Sultan Muhammad Shams ud-din Iskandar II, Sultan of Land
and Sea, Lord of the twelve-thousand islands and Sultan
of the Maldives. b. as Muhammad Manikufa'anu,
son of Al-Amir Husain BoduDorimenaKilegefa'anu,
by his second wife, Amina Manikufa'anu. Seized the
throne within a month of the departure of Sultan
Ghiya'asuddin for Mecca, 22nd December 1773.
Abdicated in favour of his cousin in May 1774, but
continued to wield power. Thereafter-styled as SultanMuhammedFarina Kilege. He d. at
Malé, 31st March 1779.

privately. Exiled to Addu Atoll with his two brothers in
1773. Brought back to Mah by his first cousin, who then
abdicated in his favour, May 1774. m. (first) at
