Sultan Haji Muhammed Ghiya'as ud-din Iskandar Sri Kula
Ranmani Kirithi Sundara Maha Radun [Haji Banda'ara
Sahidu-kula], Sultan of Land and Sea, Lord of the
twelve-thousand islands and Sultan of the Maldives. b.
at the Kabafa'anu Palace, Malé, before 6th
October 1733, second son of H.H. Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar
II Zarb Mahal Sri Rannava Loaka Maha Radun, Sultan of the
Maldives, by his first wife, 'Aisha Kabafa'anu, educ.
privately.Taken by the 'Ali Raja of Cannanore to
Androth island, in the Laccadives, in 1752. Transferred
to Minicoy in April 1757. Escaped from his captores in
1758 and settled in Ganjam, in Orissa. Brought back by
Sultan al-Hassan 'Izz ud-din and appointed as his Heir
Apparent, 16th February 1763. Went on a
pilgrimage to Mecca 17th December 1773
appointing his sister and brother-in-law as joint
regents. Deposed in absentia, 22nd December
1773. Returned to Mahe, and on hearing about events
during his absence, apparently abdicated his rights and
recognised the authority of Sultan Muhammad Mu'iz ud-din
Iskander, 7th October 1774. m. (first)
Amina Kabafa'anu (d. from smallpox, before
1774), daughter of Sikka Manik. m. (second)
Maryam Kabafa'anu (d. from smallpox, before
1774), daughter of the KudabanderiThakurufa'anu.
m. (third) Aisha Manikufa'anu (m.
second, at Malé, 1778, Husain KakaThakuru'fa'anu).
He was k. (drowned) off the island of Guraidu, 8th
October 1774, having had issue:
1)
Al-Amir 'Abdu'llah Ibrahim Fa'amuladeriKilegefa'anu.
b. 1760, educ. privately. He was
banished to Fuahmulah in October 1774 but
recalled by Sultan Hassan Nur ud-din and granted
the titles of Amir and Fa'amuladeriKilegefa'anu. m. (first) Kudairani
Eduruge Maryam Manikufa'anu, daughter of
the Eduru Manikufa'anu, of Addu Midu. m.
(second) Validadi AminaManikufa'anu,
daughter of Hoadhadige Don Maniku.He d.
at Fua Mulaku, 7th June 1828 (bur.
there), having had issue, four sons and one
daughter:
a)
Nabil Musa Didi. He had issue, a
son:
i)
Ibrahim Didi, of Maradu. He had
issue, a daughter:

Hawa Didi. m.
Ganduvaru 'Abdu'llah
Didi, son of Ahmad Didi.

b)
Nabil Karayye Bodu Hassan Didi (s/o
Amina). m. (first) Kahliha'ara'a
Aisha Manikufa'anu, from Adu Midu.
m. (second) Kudhuraniyage Fatima Manikufa'anu,
former wife of Aishabigedharu Hassan Thakurufa'anu
[Kalhu Abu], and daughter of Shaikh
al-Faqih al-Hafiz Musa EduruThakuru'fa'anu,
of Midu, by his second wife,
Kudhuraniyage Amina Manikufa'anu.
He d. at Fua Mulaku, aged 75,
having had issue, two sons:
i)
Husain Didi (s/o Aisha). m.
Ma'alhosgedharu Hawa Manikufa'anu.
He had issue, a daughter:
c)
Nabil Husain Didi. He d. at
Fua Mulaku, aged seventy-four years.
d)
Nabil Ahmad Didi. He d. at
Fua Mulaku, aged sixty years.
These
sons had issue:
i)
Ahmad Didi. b. Fua Mulaku,
1860. He d. after 1922,
having had issue, a son.
ii)
'Abdu'llah Didi. b. at Fua
Mulaku, 1865. He d. after
1922.
a)
Nabila Don Aisha Didi (d/o
Maryam). m. (first) Kon'dey 'Ali Manikufa'anu,
son of Kon'dey Musa Manikufa'anu. m.
(second) El-Naib Gan'duvaru Muhammad Thakurufa'anu,
of Midu, second son of Gedharu 'Ali Thakurufa'anu,
by his wife, Dhondhonabuge Amina Raniya,
daughter of GA Ma'amendu Mudinge Ibrahim Kaleyge.
She d. at Fua Mulaku, aged sixty
years (bur. there), having had
issue, one son and one daughter by her
first and two sons and two daughers by
her second husband.
