of Addu Atoll, by his wife, Kakuni Dio, of Davaddu
Island, Huvadu Atoll, educ. privately. He served
as a vizier and was styled Devadhu Muhammad FandiyaruRasefa'anu before his accession. Proclaimed Sultan
after the eviction of Maryam Kabafa'anu from the
palace of her late husband Sultan Muhammad Shams ud-din,
5th November 1692 n.s. He took a great
interest in scholarship and learning, reduced taxation,
forbade certain inhumane punishments, restored the
mosques and assisted those in debt. m. (first)
