Sultan Muhammad 'Imad ud-din IV Iskandar Sri Kula Sundara Kathiri Buwana Maha Radun, Sultan of Land and Sea, Lord of the twelve-thousand islands and Sultan of the Maldives. b. 1818, second son of H.H. Sultan Muhammad Mu'in ud-din I Iskander Sri Kaki Sundara Kathiri Buwana Maha Radun, Sultan of Land and Sea, Lord of the twelve-thousand islands and Sultan of the Maldives, by his second wife, Khadija Didi, educ. privately. Proclaimed on the death of his father, 22^nd January 1835. m. (first) H.H. Kudaeduruge Zulaikha Rani Kilege, a commoner whose family were elevated to noble rank before she could marry the sultan. m. (second) Maryam Didi, elder daughter of Ahmad Naib Manikufa'anu, by his wife, Daleyka Didi. He d. at Malé, 10^th January 1882 (bur. there at Hukuru Miskiy), having had issue, two sons:

1) H.H. Sultan Hassan 'Izz ud-din ibni al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad 'Imad ud-din [Manduge Bodu Dori Manippulu] (s/o Zuleikha). Excluded from the succession on account of blindness, but accorded the personal rank and title of Sultan for life, 1882. m. (first) Handeygirige Kahambuge Bodu Didi Aisha (m. second, Nevinge Hassan Kaleyfan). m. (second) Nabila Manduge Don Didi (d. 23^rd May 1922), daughter of Athirige Tuttu Ahmad Didi, by his wife, Thalhamudhige Bodu Sanfa'a Didi. m. (third) Kahanbuge Bodu Didi (d.s.p.). He d. at Malé, (bur. there at Hukuru Miskiy), having had issue, four sons and four daughters:
- a) Prince Manduge Muhammad Mu'in ud-din, who succeeded as H.H. Sultan Muhammad Mu'in ud-din II, Sultan of the Maldives (s/o Kahambuge Bodu Didi) - see below.
- b) Prince Manduge Hassan Nur ud-din, who succeeded as H.H. Sultan Muhammad 'Imad ud-Din VI, Sultan of the Maldives (s/o Manduge Don Didi) - see below.
- c) Prince Manduge Dori Manippulu (s/o Manduge Don Didi). Appointed Regent during the absence of his brother in Cairo, November 1902, but deposed by a coup d'etat in favour of his brother, March 1903. m. (first) Esjehi Ganduvaru Sitti Didi. m. (second) Henveyruge La Didi, daughter of Hassan Hakura'a Manikufa'anu [Henveyruge Don Hassan Didi]. m. (third) (div.) Velanage La Didi (m. second, Prince Ahmad Manduge Tuttu Manippulu - see below), daughter of Malinge Hassan Velana Manikufa'anu. He had issue, one son and three daughters:
  - i) Prince Manduge Ahmad Kamal Manippulu (s/o Velanage La Didi). m. (first) (div.) Athirige Maryam Didi (m. second, Al-Amir Ahmad Hilmy Fa'arhana'a Kilegefa'anu, CVO), and younger daughter of Al-Amir Ahmad Kuda Dorimena Kilegefa'anu [Athirige Ahmad Didi], by his wife, Roanuge Aisha Didi. m. (second) Medu Ganduvaru Fatima Didi. He had issue, by his second wife:

  - iii) Princess Munarudoruge Tuttu Goma (d/o Henveyruge La Didi). m. Velanage Ibrahim Didi, son of Velanage Muhammad Didi. She had issue, two sons - see above.
- d) Prince Ahmad Manduge Tuttu Manippulu. b. at the Kambaafaanu Ganduvaru, Malé, 27^th January 1877 (s/o Manduge Don Didi). Regent during his brother's absence in Mecca and Cairo December 1900-2^nd June 1901. Went into voluntary exile to Colombo, Ceylon, 1912. m. (first) Velanage La Didi, former wife of his elder brother, Prince Manduge Dori Manippulu, daughter of Malinge Hassan Velana Manikufa'anu. m. (second) Maveyodoruge Sanfa'a Didi, former wife of H.H. Sultan Muhammad Shams ud-din III Iskander, Sultan of the Maldives, CMG, and daughter of Nevinge Hassan Kaleyfan, by his step-mother Handeygirige Kahambuge Bodu Didi. m. (third) Princess Aa Goduvaru Tuttu Goma, daughter of his uncle H.H. Sultan Ibrahim Nur ud-din II Iskandar, Sultan of the Maldives. He d. at Malé, 9^th May 1946 (bur. there at Hukuru Miskiy), having had issue, eight children, by his first two wives:
  - i) Prince Ali Uthuru Ganduvaru Manippulu. b. 1904 (s/o Velanage La Didi). m. Tuttu Diddi, daughter of Meerubahuru Ismail Didi. He d. 1965, having had issue, two sons:
    - (1) Muhammad Khalil.
    - (2) 'Abdu'llah Khalil. m. his first cousin, Diana, eldest daughter of Prince Manduge Muhammad 'Abdu'l-Wahhab Manippulu, by his wife, Fatima Sitti, daughter of Sayyid Husain Afifi ud-din al-Husaini Ba-Alawi, sometime Chief Justice.
  - ii) Prince Muhammad 'Abdu'l-Hadi Manduge Manippulu.
  - iii) Prince Manduge Muhammad 'Abdu'l-Wahhab Manippulu. b. 16^th December 1907 (s/o Sanfa'a Didi). Acted as Regent for King Muhammad Farid on several occasions. m. Sayyida Fatima Sitti binti Husain Afifi ud-din al-Husaini Ba-Alawi [Bodufenvalhuge Fatima Sitti Seedi] (b. 28^th September 1911; d. 15^th August 1991), daughter of Bodufenvalhuge Sayyid Husain Afifi ud-din al-Husaini Ba-Alawi, sometime Chief Justice, by his wife, Bodugaluge Aisha Didi, daughter of Bodugaluge Latuttu Didi. He d. at Malé, 6^th October 1999, having had issue, six sons and one daughter:
    - (1) 'Abdu'l-Razzak 'Ali Numan. b. at Malé, educ. Sanniya Sch., Malé, St Peter's Coll., Colombo.
    - (2) Dr 'Abdu'l-Rashid Saeed. b. at Malé, 16^th October 1932, educ. Sanniya Sch., Malé, St Peter's Coll., Colombo, Madras Medical Coll. (MBBS), in Canada (MD), and the USA (PhD). Worked at Ottawa Gen. Hosp.; Henderson Gen. Hosp., Hamilton; St. Joseph's Gen. Hosp., London, Ontario; and Colombia Pacific Hosp., San Rafael, Calif.; in private practice at South Haven, Michigan 1976-1992. Poet, musician and author. m. at London, Ontario, 8^th October 1970, Suzanne (b. Brantford, Ontario, Canada, 4^th October 1938; d. from cancer, October 1991), née Bergey, a lady of American-Dutch ancestry. He d.s.p. at South Haven, Michigan, USA, 30^th September 1992 (bur. McDowell Cemetery).

Sultan al-Hassan Nur ud-din Iskander II, Sultan of the Maldives. He has issue, a son:

1) Princess Athirige Goma (d/o Zuleikha). m. at Malé, 1883, as his fifth wife, Al-Amir Haji Ibrahim Dorimena Kilegefa'anu [Athirige Ibrahim Didi Effendi] (b. at Malé, 1845; d. at Malé, 31^st March 1925), sometime Grand Vizier, second son of Al-Amir 'Ali Dorimena Kilegefa'anu [Athirige 'Ali Didi], sometime State Treasurer. She had issue, one daughter - see above.
2) Princess Galollu-Goduvaru Goma (d/o Zuleikha). m. (first) Al-Amir 'Abdu'llah Didi Farina Kilege. m. (second) Al-Amir Sayyid Musa Fa'amuladeri Kilegefa'anu. She d. at Malé, 10^th June 1922.

1885 - 1888 H.H. Sultan Muhammad Mu'in ud-din II Iskandar Sri Kula Sundara Kathiri Buwana Maha Radun, Sultan of Land and Sea, Lord of the twelve-thousand islands and Sultan of the Maldives, eldest son of H.H. Sultan Hassan 'Izz ud-din ibni al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad 'Imad ud-din [Manduge Bodu Dori Manippulu], by his first wife, Handeygirige Kahambuge Aisha Bodu Didi, educ. privately. Succeeded on the abdication of his paternal uncle, 27^th October 1885. Accepted British Protection, 16^th December 1887. Abdicated in favour of his uncle, 1888. m. (first) a lady from Ekgamuge. m. (second) H.H. Zulaikha Rani Kilege, née Dandikorige Zulaikha Kamba'a Didi, a princess of Royal descent. He d. at Malé, 23^rd September 1892, having had issue, two sons:

1) Prince Ekgamuge Tuttu Manippulu (s/o the Ekgamu lady). Excluded from the succession due to a dissability, 1892.
2) Prince 'Ali Majehi Ganduvaru Manippulu, who succeeded as H.H. Sultan al-Hassan Nur ud-din Iskander II, Sultan of the Maldives (s/o Dandikorige Didi) - see below.

Sultan Ibrahim Nur ud-din II Iskandar Sri Kula Sundara Svasti Sri Mata Maha Sri Bari Kusa Furadana Sri Kula Sada Ira Siaka Sastara Auda Kirti Kathiri Buwana Maha Radun ibni al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad 'Imad ud-din Iskandar, Sultan of Land and Sea, Lord of the twelve-thousand islands and Sultan of the Maldives, second son of H.H. Sultan Muhammad Mu'in ud-din II Iskandar Sri Kula Sundara Kathiri Buwana Maha Radun, Sultan of the Maldives, educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his father, 10^th January 1882. Abdicated in favour of his nephew, 27^th October 1885. Resumed the throne on the abdication of his nephew, 1888. m. (first) Don Didi (d.s.p.), daughter of Malinge Hassan Velana Manikufa'anu. m. 1) Prince Muligi-Gaduvaru Dori Manippulu, who succeeded as H.H. Sultan Muhammad Shams ud-din III Iskander, Sultan of the Maldives (s/o Kakage Don Goma) - see below.
2) Prince Machchangoli Aa Gaduvaru Manippulu, who was wrongly installed as H.H. Sultan Muhammad 'Imad ud-din V, Sultan of the Maldives (s/o Bodugaluge Don Didi) - see below.
3) Prince Marandu-Gaduvaru Dori Manippulu (s/o Henveyruge Don Didi). m. an Indian lady. He d. at Lucknow, India, 1928, having had issue:
- a) Prince Muhammad Farid. b. 1914, educ. Lucknow. A candidate for Heir Apparent in 1930-1931.
4) Prince Marandu-Gaduvaru Tuttu Manippulu (s/o Henveyruge Don Didi), educ. India. m. Amina Didi, second daughter of Haji Ibrahim Didi Effendi Bodu Muridu Thakuru'fa'anu, by his fourth wife, Rahmat Didi. He had issue.
1) Princess Veyoge Medu Goma (d/o Kakage Don Goma).
2) Princess Veyoge Don Goma (d/o Kakage Don Goma). m. (first) (div.) H.H. al-Muntakhab al-Arash ud-Daula al-Mahaldiviya Amir Amin 'Abdu'l-Majid Didi, Sultan Elect of the Maldives (b. 1873; d. in Colombo, Ceylon, 21^st February 1952), second son of Haji Ibrahim Didi Effendi Bodu Muridu Thakuru'fa'anu, by his third wife, Ekgamuge Don Didi, daughter of Al-Amir Hassan Fa'amuladeri Kilegefa'anu, educ. privately. - b) Prince Ibrahim Habib Manippulu. Served in a Punjab Regiment of the Indian Army during WW2 1943-1944, Deputy Cdr Sifain Militia, and sometime Warden of the Maldive Hostel in Colombo. He had issue, a daughter:
  - i) Habiba. m. Tuttu Ahmad Didi, son of Al-Amir 'Ali Kuda Rannabanderi Kilegefa'anu [Henveyruge 'Ali Didi], sometime Chair of the Council of Regency, by his wife, Kaka'age Fatima Didi, eldest daughter of his maternal uncle, Kaka'age Ismail Dorimena Manikufa'anu. She had issue - see above.
3) Princess Aa Goduvaru Dori Goma (d/o Bodugaluge Didi). m. as his first wife (div.), H.H. Sultan Haji Muhammad 'Imad ud-din VI, Sultan of the Maldives, second son of H.H. Sultan Muhammad 'Imad ud-din IV, Sultan of the Maldives, by whom she had issue, an only daughter - see below. m. (second) Malinge Ismail Didi, by whom she had further issue, one son and two daughters.
4) Princess Aa Goduvaru Don Goma. m. H.H. al-Muntakhab al-Arash ud-Daula al-Mahaldiviya Amir Amin 'Abdu'l-Majid Didi (b. at Malé, 1873; d. in Colombo, Ceylon, 21^st February 1952), second son of Haji Ibrahim Didi Effendi, Bodu Muridu Thakuru'fa'anu, by his third wife, Ekgamuge Don Didi, daughter of Al-Amir Hassan Fa'amuladeri Kilegefa'anu. She had issue - see below.
5) Princess Aa Goduvaru Tuttu Goma (d/o Bodugaluge Didi). m. as his third wife, Prince Ahmad Manduge Tuttu Manippulu (b. at the Kamba'afa'anu Ganduvaru, Malé, 27^th January 1877; d. at Malé, 9^th May 1946), youngest son of H.H. Sultan Manduge Bodu Dori Manippulu Hassan 'Izz ud-din, by his second wife, Manduge Don Didi, daughter of Ahmad Didi. She had issue - see above.
6) Princess Ganduvaru Goma Ma'ava Kilege (d/o Medu Didi). m. (div.) Sayyid Husain Afifi ud-din bin Muhammad al-Husaini Ba-Alawi [Bodufenvalhuge Seedi] (b. 19^th May 1888; d. at Malé, 2^nd June 1970, sometime Chief Justice and Minister for Education, son of Sayyid Muhammad bin Ibrahim al-Husaini Ba-Alawi [Kuda Seedi], by his wife, Sayidda Zulaikha binti Ibrahim Majd ud-din [Bodufenvaluge Don Manika], daughter of Eduruge Shaikh al-Faqih al-Qazi Sayyid Ibrahim Majd ud-din bin Musa, Fandiya'aru Thakkan, of Midu, in Addu Atoll, sometime Chief Justice. She had issue, a daughter - see above.

1892 - 1893 H.H. Sultan Muhammad 'Imad ud-din V Sri Kula Sundara Kathiri Buwana Maha Radun, Sultan of Land and Sea, Lord of the twelve-thousand islands and Sultan of the Maldives. b. at Malé, 1884, as Prince Machchangoli Aa Gaduvaru Manippulu, second son of H.H. Sultan Ibrahim Nur ud-din II Iskandar Sri Kula Sundara Svasti Sri Mata Maha Sri Bari Kusa Furadana Sri Kula Sada Ira Siaka Sastara Auda Kirti Kathiri Buwana Maha Radun ibni al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad 'Imad ud-din Iskandar, Sultan of the Maldives, by his third wife, Bodugaluge Don Didi, educ. privately. Proclaimed and installed on the death of his father, by the Council of Ministers, December 1892. Reigned for three months and deposed following strong protests to the British Governor of Ceylon, 20^th May 1893. m. Fatima Didi. He d. during his pilgrimage to Mecca, at Bombay, India, June 1920, having had issue, two sons:

1) Prince Muhammad Farid Machchangoli-Gaduvaru Dori Manippulu. He d. at Malé, 1928.
2) Prince Machchangoli-Gaduvaru Tuttu Manippulu. He d. while on pilgrimage to Mecca, at Bombay, India, June 1920.
