1712 - 1713 H.M. Shahanshah-i-Ghazi Abu’l-Fath Mu’iz ud-din Muhammad Jahandar Shah Sahib-i-Qiran Padshah-i-Jahan, Shahanshah-i-Ghazi [Khuld Aramgah], Emperor of India. b. in the Deccan, 9th May 1661 n.s., educ. privately. Subadar of Multan 1694, and Sind and Multan 1707-1712. Invested with the title of Jahandar Shah Bahadur at Bagh Dahr-Ara, near Agra, 20th March 1707. Raised to a mansab of 30,000 zat and 20,000 sowar, 2nd May 1707. Succeeded on the death of his father, 27th February 1712. Ascended the musnaid at Lahore, 29th March 1712 n.s. m. (first) at Agra, 13th October 1676 n.s., a daughter of Mirza Murad Kam Safawi, Mirza Mukarram Khan, sometime Subadar of Oudh. m. (second) Anup Bai (d. at Delhi, 18th April 1735 n.s. m. (third) at Ahmadnagar, 29th August 1684 n.s., Nawab Saidat un-nisa Begum Sahiba, niece of his first wife, and daughter of Mirza Rustam Safawi. m. (fourth) Nawab Imtiaz Mahal Begum Sahiba (cre. 1712), née Lal Kunwar alias Zohra Kanjri, a former singing girl who exercised supreme influence over the Emperor, encouraged frivolity and pleasure which eventually led to his ignominious downfall, daughter of Khasusiyat Khan, a descendant of Mian Tansen, a celebrated musician during the reign of Emperor Akbar. m. (sixth) the mother (d. after 1757) of Muhammad A’azz ud-din. m. (seventh) Jina Begum? He was k. (strangled to death and his body dragged through the streets) on the orders of his nephew, Emperor Farrukh-siyar, in captivity at the Tripoli Gate Prison, the Red Fort, Shahjahanabad, Delhi, 12th February 1713 n.s. (bur. Mausoleum of Humayun, Delhi), having had issue, four sons and three daughters:
