1914 - 1917 H.H. Husain Kamil, Sultan of Egypt, Sovereign of Nubia, of the Sudan, of Kordofan and of Darfur, GCB (c 19.12.1914). b. at Cairo, 21^st November 1853, second son of H.H. Ismail Pasha, Khedive of Egypt, etc., GCB, GCSI, by his second wife, H.H. Princess Jananyar [Janazir] Berinici Khanum Effendimiz, educ. Royal Sch, Cairo and in France. Granted the personal title of Mîrmîran Pasha together with the rank of Maj-Gen in the Imperial Ottoman Army 6/4/1863, Dir-Gen of Education, Charitable Endowments & Public Works 1872-1875, prom Field Marshal Ottoman Army 1875, Presdt Legislative Council 1909-1910. Proclaimed as Sultan of Egypt, Sovereign of Nubia, of the Sudan, of Kordofan and of Darfur with the style of 'Azama, following the deposition of his nephew, 19^th December 1914. Installed at the 'Abdin Palace, Cairo, 20^th December 1914. Field Marshal Egyptian Army 20/12/1914. Founded the Orders of Muhammad 'Ali, Ismail, the Nile and al-Kemal, 14^th April 1915. Hosh al-Basha, Imam al-Shafi'i, Cairo), Founder Presdt Muhammad 'Ali Benevolent Soc, eldest daughter of H.H. Prince Ahmad Rifa'at Pasha, sometime Presdt Council of State, by his second wife, Dilbar-Jahan Khanum. m. (second) at Istanbul, Turkey, 12^th March 1887, H.H. Sultana Malak Khanum Effendimiz (b. at Istanbul, Turkey, 27^th October 1869; d. at Heliopolis, Egypt, 4^th February 1956, bur. ar-Rifai Mosque, Cairo), raised to the title of Sultana with the style of 'Azama, 19^th December 1914, rcvd: the Decoration of al-Kemal in brilliants (1915), daughter of Admiral H.E. Hasan Turhan Pasha, late ION, a Circassian, and adopted daughter of H.H. Jahan Uffat Kadin Effendimiz, wife of H.H. Khedive Ismail. • 1) General H.S.H. Prince Husain Kamal ud-din Pasha. b. at Cairo, 20^th December 1874 (s/o Princess Ain ul-Hayat), educ. Militar Theresianum Acad., Vienna. Granted the style of His Sultanic Highness 11^th October 1917. C-in-C Egyptian Army 1914. Renounced his rights of succession, 7^th October 1917. A great collector of oriental antiquities and works of art, explorer and traveller. Presdt. Royal Agricultural Soc. 1914-1932. Rcvd: GC of the Orders of Muhammad 'Ali (1915) and Ismail (1915). m. at Cairo, 5^th May 1904, H.S.H. Princess Ni'matu'llah Khanum (b. at the Palace of Shubra, Cairo, 4^th November 1881; d. at Nice, France, 1965, bur. there at the cimetière de Caucade), granted the style of Her Sultanic Highness 11^th October 1917, formerly the wife of Lieutenant-General H.E. Muhammad Jamil Tusun Pasha, and youngest daughter of H.H. Muhammad Tawfik, Khedive of Egypt, etc., GCB, GCSI, by his wife, H.H. Princess Amina Najiya Khanum Effendimiz, the Valida Sultana, eldest daughter of Lieutenant-General H.H. Damad Prince Ibrahim al-Hami Pasha. He d.s.p. at Toulouse, France, 6^th August 1932 (bur. in a mausoleum in the Muqattam Hills).
• 2) H.H. Prince Saif ud-din Bey. b. 1878 (s/o Princess Ain ul-Hayat). He d. 1898.
• 3) H.H. Prince Ahmad Nazim Bey. b. 21^st April 1879 (s/o Princess Ain ul-Hayat). He d. at Cairo, 15^th April 1884.
• 4) H.H. Prince Yusuf Kamil Bey. b. 1880 (s/o Princess Ain ul-Hayat). He d. 1910.
• 1) H.S.H. Princess Kazima Khanum Effendi. b. 16^th July 1876 (d/o Princess Ain ul-Hayat). Granted the style of Her Sultanic Highness 11^th October 1917. Rcvd: the Decoration of al-Kemal in brilliants (1915). She d. unm. at Rome, 29^th January 1921 (bur. ar-Rifai Mosque, Cairo).
• 2) H.H. Princess Kamila Khanum Effendi. b. 12^th October 1877 (d/o Princess Ain ul-Hayat). She d. unm. at Mataria, 14^th October 1895 (bur. ar-Rifai Mosque, Cairo).
• 3) H.S.H. Princess Kadria Khanum Effendi. b. at Cairo, 10^th January 1888 (d/o Sultana Malak). Granted the style of Her Sultanic Highness 11^th October 1917. (first) at Heliopolis Palace, near Cairo, 11^th May 1919 (div.), (Sahib ul-Izza) Muhammad Jamal ud-din Sirri Bey, OBE (c 5.12.1919) (b. at Istanbul, 1888; d. there, 7^th February 1952), son of H.E. (Sahib us-Sa'ada) Mahmud Sirri Pasha, by his wife, H.H. Princess Fatima Khanum Effendi, second daughter of H.H. Ismail Pasha, Khedive of Egypt, etc., GCB, GCSI. m. (second) at Emirgan, Istanbul, 1921, H.E. (Sahib us-Sa'ada) Mahmud Khairy Pasha (d. at Cairo, 13^th March 1957), sometime ADC to Sultan Husain Kamil, Senator, Presdt. de la Pinto Cotton Co., l'Industrie Fibres Textiles, General Chemical Co., etc. She d. at Cairo, 3^rd June 1955, having had issue, one son and one daughter, by her second husband:
  • a) H.H. Damad Mahmud Husain Khairy Bey Effendi. b. 22^nd December 1924. m. at Cairo, Egypt, 1949, H.I.H. Princess Fawzia Sultana (b. at Paris, France, 6^th December 1928), youngest daughter of Rear-Admiral H.I.H. Prince Ibrahim Tawfik Effendi, by his fourth wife, Khadija Shadiya Khanum Effendi, daughter of Admiral H.E. Mahmud Bakhri Pasha. No issue.
  • a) Samira Khanum. b. 1922. m. Yahya al-Alaili (b. 1910; d. 1969). She d. 26^th July 2007, having had issue, one son.
• 4) H.S.H. Princess Samiha Khanum Effendi. b. at Cairo, 17^th July 1889 (d/o Sultana Malak). Granted the style of Her Sultanic Highness 11^th October 1917. Rcvd: the Decoration of al-Kemal in brilliants (1915). m. (first) 1917 (div. 1919), as his first wife, Brigadier H.H. Prince Ismail Daud Bey, CBE (b. 10^th May 1892; d.s.p. 1956), eldest son of Lieutenant-General H.H. Prince Muhammad Daud Pasha, by his wife, H.H. Princess Saniya Khanum, elder daughter of Field Marshal H.E. (Sahib us-Sa'ada) Yahya Mansur Yeghen Pasha - see above. m. (second) 1921 (div. 6^th April 1926), H.E. (Sahib us-Sa'ada) Muhammad Tahir Pasha (b. at the Pembe Yali, Emirgan, August 1897; d. 29^th January 1970), sometime Senator of the Kingdom, only son of H.E. Mustafa Pasha Shakib, sometime Ottoman Env. Extr. & Min. Plen. to Sweden, by his wife H.H. Princess Amina Aziza Khanum, seventh daughter of H.H. Ismail Pasha, Khedive of Egypt, etc., GCB, GCSI - see above. m. (third) 12^th January 1939, as his second wife, H.E. (Sahib us-Sa'ada) Vahid Yusri Pasha (b. 7^th February 1907; d. 12^th January 1969), younger son of H.E. (Sahib us-Sa'ada) Saifu'llah Yusri Pasha, by his wife, H.H. • 5) H.H. Princess Badiha Khanum Effendi. b. 4^th July 1894 (d/o Sultana Malak). Rcvd: the Decoration of al-Kemal in brilliants. m. at Heliopolis, Spring 1913, as his first wife, H.E. (Sahib ul-Ma'ali) Mahmud Fakhry Pasha, CBE (b. 24^th November 1884; m. second, 24^th May 1919, H.R.H. Princess Fawkia, eldest daughter of H.M. King Ahmad Fu'ad I, GCB, Royal Victorian Chain, and  - see below), sometime Minister for Finance and Foreign Affairs, son of H.E. (Sahib ud-Daula) Husain Fakhry Pasha, KCMG, sometime Prime Minister of Egypt, by his wife, a daughter of H.E. (Sahib us-Sa'ada) Safvat Pasha, a general under Muhammad 'Ali Pasha. She d.s.p. from measles at Cairo, 6^th November 1913 (bur. there at ar-Rifai Mosque).
