(Sa'adat Sahib al-Tal'a al-vaiqa al-Khedivi al-Afkham wa'l-duari al-Akram) Muhammad Tawfik Pasha, Khedive of Egypt, Sovereign of Nubia, of the Sudan, of Kordofan and of Darfur, GCB (c 21.6.1887), GCSI (3.5.1875). b. at the Qasr al-Maniyal, Cairo 30^th April 1852, eldest son of H.H. Ismail Pasha, Khedive of Egypt, etc., GCB, GCSI, by his fourth wife, H.H. Princess Shafiq-Nur, Valida Effendimiz, educ. Royal Sch., Manyal and Tajhiziyya Sch., Cairo. Granted the personal title of Mîrmîran Pasha together with the rank of Maj-Gen. in the Imperial Ottoman Army 6/4/1863, prom. to Vizier and Field Marshal 19/7/1868. Became Heir Apparent as a consequence of the change in the rules of succession, 28^th May 1866. Invested as Heir Apparent at the Citadel, Cairo, 1^st August 1868. Presdt. Privy Cncl. 1872-1879 and of the Cncl. of Ministers 10^th March-6^th April 1879. Succeeded on the deposition of his father, 25^th June 1879. Installed at the Citadel in Cairo, 26^th June 1879. Grand Master National Grand Lodge of Egypt 1881-1891. Rcvd: the Exalted Order of Honour (Nishan-i-Ali-Imtiaz), and the Imperial Orders of the Osmans (Nishan-i-Osmanieh) special class in brilliants (1^st class 19.7.1868), and Nobility (Nishan-i-Majidieh) special class in brilliants of Turkey, Knt. of the Order of the Seraphim of Sweden (7.3.1891), GC of the Orders of Vasa of Sweden (17.12.1868), Kalakaua I of Hawaii (1882), SS Maurice & Lazarus of Italy, Franz Joseph of Austria (1886), the Netherlands Lion (6.9.1890), Legion of Honour of France, etc. Grand Master of the National Grand Lodge of Egypt 1881-1891. m. 16^th January 1873 (nikah) and at the Kasr al-'Ali Palace, Cairo, 23^rd January 1873 (zifaf), H.H. Princess Amina Najiya Khanum Effendimiz, the Daulat al-Valida Sultana (b. at Istanbul, 24^th May 1858; d. at Bebek, Bosphorus, 19^th June 1931, bur. Khedive Tawfik Mausoleum, Kait Bey, Cairo), known as "Umm al-Mu'hsinin" in recognition of her many charitable endowments, the first consort to be styled Khediva Effendimiz from 19^th January 1873, and became Daulat al-Valida Sultana on the succession of her eldest son 7^th January 1892, rcvd: the Orders of Honour (Nishan-i-Imtiaz) and Charity (Nishan-i-Shafakat) 1^st class of Turkey, and GC of the Order of the Crown of Hawaii (1883), eldest daughter of Lieutenant-General H.H. Damad Prince Ibrahim al-Hami Pasha. He d. at Hulvan Palace, 7^th January 1892 (bur. Khedive Tawfik Mausoleum, Kait Bey, Cairo), having had issue, two sons and three daughters:

2) Lieutenant-General H.R.H. Prince Muhammad 'Ali Pasha, GCB (c 1.2.1937), GCMG (28.6.1900). b. at the Kubba Palace, Cairo, 9^th November 1875, educ. Ali Sch., Cairo; Victoria Coll., Alexandria, the the Theresianum, Vienna, and Institut du Château de Lancy, Geneva. Raised to the ranks of Pasha and Maj-Gen. Ottoman Army, prom. to the rank of Vizier 14^th October 1910, Lieut-Gen. Egyptian Army 1917. Heir Presumptive 7^th January 1892 to 20^th February 1899, 9^th October 1917 to 11^th February 1920, 28^th April 1936 to 16^th January 1952, and 26^th July 1952 to 18^th July 1953. Granted the style of His Highness 7^th January 1892, and that of His Royal Highness 8^th May 1936. Presdt. of the Council of Regency during the minority of King Faruk 8^th May 1936 to 29^th July 1937, and of the Council of the Royal Court 1937-1938. Represented Egypt at the Diamond Jubilee celebrations of Queen Victoria in 1897, and the Coronations of King Edward VII and Quen Alxandra 1902, King George V and Queen Mary 1911, and King George VI and Queen Elizabeth 1937. Grand Master of the National Grand Lodge of Egypt 1922-1932, Hon. Presdt. Royal Shooting Club, Presdt. Muhammad 'Ali Club, Mbr. Royal Aricultural Soc., etc. Author of "Mon journal de voyage en Afrique du sud" (1923), "Breeding of Purebred Arab Horses" (1936), "Souvenirs de Jeunesse: Le Theresianum (Vienne de mon temps)" (1948), "Ma jeunesse à Paris" (1950), etc. Rcvd: the Collar of the Order of Muhammad 'Ali (GC 1915), the Imperial Orders of the Osmans (Nishan-i-Osmanieh) special class in brilliants, and Nobility (Nishan-i-Majidieh) special class in brilliants of Turkey, Knt. of the Orders of the Anunziata of Italy (1937), and the White Eagle of Russia (for non-Christians), GC of the Orders of SS Maurice & Lazarus of Italy, St Benedict of Aviz and the Conception of Our Lady of Vila Viçosa of Portugal, Crown of Rumania, Redeemer of Greece (1936), Legion of Honour of France (1936), Leopold of Belgium, Carlos III of Spain, and Pahlavi of Iran (1939), the Order of the White Lion of Czechoslovakia 1^st class, Proprietor of the 1^st class of the Order of Leopold of Austria (1906), the Order of the Red Eagle 2^nd class of Prussia, the Imperial Order of the Double Dragon 1^st class 2^nd grade of China, Queen Victoria Diamond Jubilee (1897), and King Edward VII Coron. Prince Muhammad 'Abbas Halim Pasha (b. at the Palace of Shubra, Cairo, 29^th September 1866; d. at Hulvan, 10^th January 1935), second son of H.H. Prince Muhammed 'Abdu'l-Halim Pasha, by his wife Vijdan. She d. at Hulvan, 22^nd February 1951, having had issue, six daughters - see above.
3) H.S.H. Princess Ni'matu'llah Khanum Effendi. b. at Cairo, 23^rd October 1882, educ. privately. Granted the style of Her Sultanic Highness 19^th December 1914. Rcvd: the Decoration of al-Kemal in brilliants (1915), and the Order of Charity (Nishan-i-Shafakat) 1^st class of Turkey. m. (first) at Cairo, 8^th January 1896 (div. 14^th November 1903), Lieutenant-General H.E. Muhammad Jamil Tusun Pasha (b. at Alexandria 1^st January 1874; d. at Toulouse, France, 6^th August 1932), youngest son of Lieutenant-General H.H. Prince Muhammad Tusun Pasha, by his second wife, H.H. Princess Fatima Khanum Effendi, second daughter of H.H. Ismail Pasha, Khedive of Egypt, etc. GCB, GCSI, by whom she had issue, an only son by her first husband - see above. m. (second) at Cairo, 5^th May 1904, General H.S.H. Prince Husain Kamal ud-din Pasha (b. at Cairo, 20^th December 1874; d.s.p. at Toulouse, France, 6^th August 1932), eldest son of H.H. Husain Kamil, Sultan of Egypt, etc. GCB, by his first wife, H.H. Princess Ain ul-Hayat Khanum Effendi, eldest daughter of H.H. Prince Ahmad Rifa'at Pasha. She d. at Nice, France, 1965 (bur. there at the cimetière de Caucade).
