(Sa'adat Sahib al-Tal'a al-vaiqa al-Khedivi al-Afkham wa'l-duari al-Akram) Muhammad Tawfik Pasha, Khedive of Egypt, Sovereign of Nubia, of the Sudan, of Kordofan and of Darfur, GCB (c 21.6.1887), GCSI (3.5.1875). b. at the Qasr al-Maniyal, Cairo 30th April 1852, eldest son of H.H. Ismail Pasha, Khedive of Egypt, etc., GCB, GCSI, by his fourth wife, H.H. Princess Shafiq-Nur, Valida Effendimiz, educ. Royal Sch., Manyal and Tajhiziyya Sch., Cairo. Granted the personal title of Mîrmîran Pasha together with the rank of Maj-Gen. in the Imperial Ottoman Army 6/4/1863, prom. to Vizier and Field Marshal 19/7/1868. Became Heir Apparent as a consequence of the change in the rules of succession, 28th May 1866. Invested as Heir Apparent at the Citadel, Cairo, 1st August 1868. Presdt. Privy Cncl. 1872-1879 and of the Cncl. of Ministers 10th March-6th April 1879. Succeeded on the deposition of his father, 25th June 1879. Installed at the Citadel in Cairo, 26th June 1879. Grand Master National Grand Lodge of Egypt 1881-1891. Rcvd: the Exalted Order of Honour (Nishan-i-Ali-Imtiaz), and the Imperial Orders of the Osmans (Nishan-i-Osmanieh) special class in brilliants (1st class 19.7.1868), and Nobility (Nishan-i-Majidieh) special class in brilliants of Turkey, Knt. of the Order of the Seraphim of Sweden (7.3.1891), GC of the Orders of Vasa of Sweden (17.12.1868), Kalakaua I of Hawaii (1882), SS Maurice & Lazarus of Italy, Franz Joseph of Austria (1886), the Netherlands Lion (6.9.1890), Legion of Honour of France, etc. Grand Master of the National Grand Lodge of Egypt 1881-1891. m. 16th January 1873 (nikah) and at the Kasr al-'Ali Palace, Cairo, 23rd January 1873 (zifaf), H.H. Princess Amina Najiya Khanum Effendimiz, the Daulat al-Valida Sultana (b. at Istanbul, 24th May 1858; d. at Bebek, Bosphorus, 19th June 1931, bur. Khedive Tawfik Mausoleum, Kait Bey, Cairo), known as "Umm al-Mu'hsinin" in recognition of her many charitable endowments, the first consort to be styled Khediva Effendimiz from 19th January 1873, and became Daulat al-Valida Sultana on the succession of her eldest son 7th January 1892, rcvd: the Orders of Honour (Nishan-i-Imtiaz) and Charity (Nishan-i-Shafakat) 1st class of Turkey, and GC of the Order of the Crown of Hawaii (1883), eldest daughter of Lieutenant-General H.H. Damad Prince Ibrahim al-Hami Pasha. He d. at Hulvan Palace, 7th January 1892 (bur. Khedive Tawfik Mausoleum, Kait Bey, Cairo), having had issue, two sons and three daughters:
