1797 - 1799 H.H. Talai Tupou, 14th Tu'i Konokupolo. b. 1753, as Finau Tuku'aho, second son of Mumui'i Topou'ila Mapatongiamanu, 13th Tu'i Konokupolo, by his second wife, Lepolo, daughter of Ha'a Ngata Motu'a Ata. Defeteated and expelled Tupou Mohe'ofo, 1793. Raised his father to the throne but ruled as Regent and Governor of Eua, with the title of Tu'i Puipuifatu 1793-1797. Succeeded on the death of his father, 29th April 1797. Installed as 14th Tu'i Konokupolo, with the name, Talai Tupou, at the Pangai Green, Kolovai, Hihifo, 14th May 1797. m. (first) 'Ulukilupetea, Tu'i Ha'apai, elder daughter of his uncle, Ngalumoetutulu, by his wife, Siu'ulua, daughter of Hareapaua, Malupo of 'Uiha. m. (second) Mata'ele, daughter of Tu'ihakavalu, by his wife, Va'asi. m. (third) Princess 'Amelia Fakahiku-'o-'uiha, 6th Tamaha (d.s.p. 1852, bur. Tungua Island), his principal consort, younger daughter of Haveatungua, 4th Tu'i Ha'ateiho, by his first wife, Princess Fatafehi Nanasipau'u, 8th Tu'i Tonga Fefine, second daughter of Fatafehi Tu'ipulatu II, 35th Tu'i Tonga. m. (fourth) Fangafua (k. (strangled) at Mu'a, April 1799, bur. Hihifo), daughter of Tofua'ipangai, 6th Ata. m. (fifth) Sisifa, youngest daughter of his uncle, Ngalumoetutulu, by his wife, Siu'ulua, daughter of Hareapaua, Malupo, of 'Uiha. He was k. at the annual 'inasi at Mu'a, by Finau Tupouni'ua, on behalf of Finau-'Ulukalala, 21st April 1799, having had issue, three sons and one daughter:
