GENEALOGY
- 1226 - 1273 1250 - 1273 Rao Shivaji [Sihoji], Rao of Pali. Although his genealogy is impossible to trace, later chronicles purport him to be the son of Set Ram, and great grandson of Maharajadhiraj Jai Chand, the last Gahadwala ruler of Kanauj. m. a sister of Bhim Dev II Solanki, of Unhilwara. He was k. in battle against the forces of Sultan Ghaus ud-din Balban, 1273 (when his Rani committed sati), having had issue, four sons:

- 2) Kumar Shri Mahevo. Established himself in Western Marwar.
- 3) Rao Shri Shri Sonungji [Sonag Sihawat], Rao of Idar (s/o Bhim Dev's sister) - see India Non-Salute (Vijayanagar).
- 4) Rao Shri Ajay Deo [Ajo Mal], of Dwarka (s/o Bhim Dev's sister). Slew Bhoj Raj Chavda and took possession of Dwarka and Okamandal, founding a new principality for himself. m. a daughter of a Chavda prince. He had issue, two sons:
- a) Rao Shri Waghaji. Ancestor of the Waja Rathores.
- b) Rao Shri Wadhaji. Ancestor of the Wadhel Rathores.

- 1273 - 1292 Rao Asthanji, Rao of Khed, eldest surviving son of Rao Shivaji [Sihoji], Rao of Pali, educ. privately. He set out for the Southwest with his two brothers, Sonanji and Ajay Deo. Expelled the Mer and Mina marauders from Pali and established his rule there. Later conquered Khed (now Mallani), in western Malrwar, from the Gohil Rajputs, laying the foundations of the Jodhpur state. m. a daughter of the ruler of Khed, but slaughtered her family during the marriage festivities. He was k. in battle against the forces of Sultan Jalal ud-din Khilji of Delhi, 1292, having had issue:

- 1357 - 1374 Rao Shri Salkha [Salkhoji], Rao of Khed, son of Rao Shri Tidaji. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1357. He d. 1374, having had issue, three sons:
- 1) Rao Shri Malinathji, Rao of Malauj. Contested the succession with his brother and became the first Rathor to shed the blood of another. He later renounced his rights and became a siddhi (mystic). Guardian to his nephew, Rao Chundarji. Founder of the Mahecha family and ancestor of the Thakus of Jasol. He had issue, including a son:

- 1374 - 1383 Rao Shri Viram Deo [Biramji], second son of Rao Rao Shri Salkha [Salkhoji], Rao of Khed, educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1374. Driven from Marwar by his nephew Jag Mal. He d. in exile, 1383, having had issue, two sons:
- 1) Rao Shri Chandra [Chundarji] Sahib, Rao of Mandore - see below.
- 2) Rao Shri Vijay, founder of the Bijawat clan.

- 1383 - 1424 Rao Shri Chandra [Chundarji] Sahib, Rao of Mandore. b. 1377, elder son of Rao Shri Viram Deo [Biramji], educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his father as head of the Rathore clan, 1383. Taken by his mother in secret to western Malwa and kept under the care of Alla. Later placed under the guardianship of his uncle, Rao Malinathji of Malauj. Acquired an interest in Mandore from the Parihar clan after his marriage in 1395, expelled the Muslim conquerors in 1406, and established his capital there. m. several wives, including (first) at Mandore, 1395, a princess of the Eenda branch of the Parihar rulers of Mandore. m. (second) a Mohil princess. He was k. in battle against Salim Shah of Multan, 1424, having had issue, fourteen sons and several daughters, including:
- 1) Rao Shri Rid Mal [Ranmalji] Sahib, Rao of Mandore - see below.
- 2) Rao Shri Sataji (s/o the Mohil princess). Contested the succession of his younger brother 1424-1427.

- 4) Rao Shri Bhimji Sahib. He had issue, including a son:
- a) Kunwar Shri Abhai Mal. Ancestor of the Thakore Sahibs of Vanod in Gujarat - see India Non-Salute (Vanod).
- 1) Hansa Baiji Lall Sahiba [Shri Rathorji Rani Hansa Kanwarji Sahiba]. m. Rana Shri Lakshman Singh [Lakha], Rana of Chittor (d. at Chittor, 1413), son of Rana Shri Kshetra Singh [Kaitsi], Rana of Chittor. She had issue, one son - see India (Udaipur).

- 1424 - 1427 Rao Shri Kanha Sahib, Rao of Mandore, second son of Rao Shri Chandra [Chundarji] Sahib, Rao of Mandore, educ. privately. Appointed as Heir Apparent by his father, in preference to his elder brother, Ranmalji. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1424. Contested the succession with his elder brothers throughout his reign. He d. young, at Mandore, 1427, having had issue, several sons, ancestor of the Karnot family.

- 1427 - 1438 Rao Shri Rid Mal [Ranmalji] Sahib, Rao of Mandore, eldest son of Rao Shri Chandra [Chundarji] Sahib, Rao of Mandore, educ. privately. Disinherited by his father, but opposed the succession of his younger brother on his father's death in 1424. Left Mandore and went to Mewar, where he gatherred together an army of Mewaris and conducted a campaign of rebellion with his brother Sataji. He eventually succeeded on the death of his younger brother, after defeating and expelling his nephews, in 1427. m. several wives, including (first) Jhaliji Rani Akher Kunwarba Sahiba, daughter of Rana Shri Jetsinghi, Rana of Kuwa. m. (second) at Chittor, 1433, a daughter of Chacha or Maira, of Chittor. m. (third) Chauvan Raniji Sahib, daughter of Lolo Ranawat, of the Sonagaro Chahuvan family. He was k. in his bed at Chittor, by members of the Sisodia clan, ca. 1438, having had issue, twenty-four sons, including:
- 1) Rao Shri Akhairaj, of Bagri. Renounced his rights in favour of Jodha. Ancestor of the Kumpawat family, Thakurs of Bagri, Asope and Kanthaliya.

- 4) Rao Shri Rupaji. Founder of the Rupawat family.
- 5) Rao Shri Jodhaji Sahib, Rao of Mandore - see below.
- 6) Rao Shri Champaji [Campo], of Auwa. Founder of the Champawat family, and ancestor of the Thakurs of Auwa and Pokaran.
- 7) Rao Shri Kandhal, of Rawatsar. b. 1416. Assisted his nephew in establishing the principality of Bikaner in 1465. Ancestor of the Rawats of Rawatsar, in that state. He was k. battle with Sarang Khan, at Sahwa, 1489, having had issue, including:
- a) Kunwar …, who had issue, three sons:
- i) Kunwar Barsal, of Chhapar-Dronpur. Briefly expelled from Chhapar-Dronpur by his cousin, Bida, he retook the jagir with the help of his uncle Bagha and the Imperial forces. Expelled by Rao Bika, who returned them to his brother Bida..
- ii) Kunwar Narbad.
