1803 - 1843 H.H. Raj Rajeshwar Saramad-i-Rajha-i-Hindustan Maharajadhiraja Maharaja Shri Man Singhji Sahib Bahadur, Maharaja of Jodhpur. b. 13th February 1783, son of Maharaj Shri Guman Singhji Sahib, by his first wife, Chauhaniji Kanwarani Abhai Kanwarji Maji Sahiba, daughter of Thakur Shri Gordhan Das, of Sointa, educ. privately. Adopted by his childless uncle, Maharaj Shri Sher Singhji, as his son and heir. Appointed as Heir Apparent by his grand father, 7th November 1791. Sent to Jalore for his own safety soon afterwards, where he remained throughout the reign of his cousin, Maharaja Bhim Singhji. Contested the succession when he came of age in 1798 and finally succeeding on his cousinĺs death, 19th October 1803. Recognised by the principal nobles and his subjects after occupying the fort, 5th November 1803. Installed on the gadi at Sringar Chowki, Mehrangarh, Jodhpur, 17th January 1804. Temporarily abdicated his ruling powers in favour of his eldest son, Yuvraj Shri Maharajkumar Chattar Singhji, on 19th April 1817. Resumed control again, 6th January1818. Entered into treaty relations with the HEIC 6th January 1818. Opposed by many of his principal nobles throughout his reign, he depended on the support of successive factions. The last of these were the Nath family, the Maharajaĺs spritual advisers, who came to control state affairs and turned him into a recluse. Many of the nobles fled to neighbouring principalities, state repression having become entirely vengeful and cold-blooded. The British authorites eventually intervened in 1839, banishing the Nath family from the state four years later.
