1947 - 1952 Group Captain H.H. Raj Rajeshwar Saramad-i-Rajha-i-Hindustan Maharajadhiraja Maharaja Shri Hanwant Singhji Sahib Bahadur, Maharaja of Jodhpur. b. at Jodhpur, 16th June 1923, eldest son of Lieutenant-General H.H. Raj Rajeshwar Saramad-i-Rajha-i-Hindustan Maharajadhiraja Maharaja Shri Umaid Singhji Sahib Bahadur, Maharaja of Jodhpur, GCSI, GCIE, KCVO, KStJ, by his wife, H.H. Maharani Shri Badan Kanwar Baiji Sahiba, educ. Mayo and Govt Colls, Ajmer, and ICS Probationers’ Camp, Dehra Dun. Served under his father as Mbr Jodhpur Council of Ministers in charge of the Education, Public Works, Customs, Electrical, Aerodrome and Development Depts. Succeeded on the death of his father, 9th June 1947. Installed on the gadi at the Sringar Chowki, Mehrangarh, Jodhpur, 21st June 1947. Signed the instrument of accession to the Dominion of India, 11th August 1947. Consented to a covenant creating the Greater Rajasthan union on 10th March 1949, by which his state merged with that union effective 6th April 1949, and served as Up-Rajpramukh of the state from 7th April 1949 to 26th June 1952. He ceased enjoying sovereign powers on the acceptance of the Constitution of the Union of India by Rajasthan, 26th November 1950. MP (Lok Sabha) 1952. Hon Group Capt RIAF. Shri Shaktimant Jhaladipati Mahamandleshwar Maharana Sriraj Sir Ghanshyamsinjhi Ajitsinhji Sahib Bahadur, Maharaja Raj Sahib of Dhrangadhra, GCIE, KCSI, by his third wife, H.H. Kotdawala Maharani Ba Shri Rajni Anand Kunverba Sahiba, eldest daughter of Meherban Dostan Thakore Shri Mulvaji Singhji Sahib, Thakore Sahib of Kotda-Sangani. m. (second) at Bombay, 14th September 1948 (div. at Bombay, ca. 20th February 1950) Alexandra MacBryde [Sundra Devi Rathore] [Sandra Rathore] (b. at Bombay, 8th November 1922; d. at Catcliffe, Rotherham, South Yorkshire, 31st December 1986), educ. Sassoon Hospital, Poona, Bombay Presidency, and Battersea Coll of Advanced Technology (later Univ of Surrey) (BA 1962), Wandsworth, London, sometime registered nurse at the Bara Hindurao Hospital in Delhi, assumed the name of Shanta Devi on her marriage, shortly afterwards converted according to Arya Samaj rites and granted the name and title of Maharani Shri Sundara Devi Sahiba with the style of Her Highness, emigrated to the UK after her divorce, where she resumed practice as a nurse, Mbr General Nursing Council for England & Wales 1956-1986, sister of Captain Derryck Edmund MacBryde, late IA, of Shawbury, Shropshire, and daughter of a former railway employee from Devlati, in the Bombay Presidency. m. (a) (morganatic) at Bombay, 17th December 1950, Vidyarani Sita Devi [Vidhya Raiji Sahiba] (b. at Bombay, 1926; k. with her husband in an aireplane accident at Godwar, 26th January 1952), converted according to Arya Samaj rites at her marriage, née Zubeida Banu, a former Muslim actress, natural daughter of Shri Kasembhai Mehta, a Bohra Muslim businessman, by Faizabai, a renowned singer. He was k. in an airplane accident at Godwar, 26th January 1952 (cremated at Jaswant Thara, Mehrangarh, Jodhpur), having had issue, one son and two daughters:

MLA Himachal Pradesh state assembly 1972, Deputy Minister for Tourism and Public Relations 1977-1980, Minister of State for Tourism, PWD, Youth Welfare and Sports, Parliamentary Affairs 1982-1984, and for Health & Family Welfare 2003-2004, MP (Lok Sabha) for Kangra-Chamba 1984-1996 & since 2003, MP (Raj Sabha) 1996-2002, Dep Chief Whip 1998, Joint Sec All-India Congress Cttee 1985, Presdt All-India Mahila Congress since 1999 (Gen-Sec 1986-1999), Chair Royal Expeditions Pvt Ltd 1992, Mbr All-India Animal Welfare Brd 1996, etc. Rcvd: Himachal Ratan (2001). m. at Mehrangarh, Jodhpur, 4th December 1968, Raja Aditya Dev Chand Katoch, Raja of Lambagraon, elder son Raja Dhrub Dev Chand Katoch, Raja of Lambagraon, by his wife, Rani Shailendra Kumari Deiji Sahiba, daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel H.H. Swasti Shri 1008 Badrish Charya Prayana Garh-Rajya Mahi Mahendra Dharam, Vaibhav Dharam Rakshah Shiromani Shri 108 Maharaja Sir Narendra Shah Sahib Bahadur, Maharaja of Tehri Garhwal, KCSI. She had issue, one son – see India Zamindars (Lambargraon).
  • 2) Maharajkumari Shri Shailesh Chhota Kanwarji Baiji Lall Sahiba [Rani Shailesh Kanwar Sahiba, of Kalianjera]. b. at Umaid Bhawan, Jodhpur, 6th May 1945 (d/o Krishna Kunwarba). m. at Mehrangarh, Jodhpur, 1962 (div. 1980), Maharaj Shri Ganga Singh Sahib, of Kalianjera, son of Maharaj Shri Narpat Singhji Sahib, of Kalianjera, in Banswara. She had issue, one son and one daughter – see India (Banswara)
Maharaja Shri Hanwant Singhji Sahib, also had issue by his morganatic wife, Vidyarani:
  • 2) Rao Raja Hukum Singh [Tutu Bana]. b. at Bombay, 2nd August 1951 (s/o Sita Devi)., educ. Mayo Coll, Ajmer. Raised by the Rajmata after the death of his parents. m. Rao Rani Rajeshwari Kumari, daughter Rao Raja Daljit Singh, of Alwar, by his wife, Rani Madan Kunwar, daughter Colonel Rao Raja Amar Singh, OBE, of Jodhpur, sometime Military Secretary at Alwar. He was k. at Jodhpur, 17th April 1981 (beheaded and dumped in the street), having had issue, one son and one daughter:
    • a) Rao Raja Parikshit Singh. b. 29th May 1974. He has issue, one son:
      • i) Kumar Shri … Singh. b. 2001.
    • a) Kumari Jainandini Kanwar [Rani Jainandini Kanwar, of Palaitha]. b. 16th September 1975. m. at Umaid Bhawan, Jodhpur, 26th February 2000, Apji Vikramaditya Singh (b. 2nd June 1973), educ. the Doon Sch, Dehra Dun, and …Univ, Canada, Mngr Farasan Restaurant 1996 and with Intercontinental Hotels in Mumbhai, Proprietor Café Kooba in Jaipur since 2005, wildlife artist, son of Apji Ashok Singh, of Palaitha, in Kotah, by his wife, Rani Uma Kanwar [Uma Kilachand], a well-known Kanhai artist  from Delhi. She has issue, two sons.
