1789 - 1794 H.M. Elect of God, Emperor Hezekeyas, King of Kings of Ethiopia, Nubia, Enarya and all the kingdoms of Saba. b. before 1755, son of H.M. Elect of God, Emperor Berhan Seggad [Iyasu II], King of Kings of Ethiopia, by his second wife, Woizero Walatta Bersebeh, educ. privately. Proclaimed by Azzaz Dagale and Kantiba Ayadar, while his cousin was at Arengo, 26th July 1789. Deposed January 1794. Expelled from Gondar by Ras Wolde Selassie of Tigray in 1796, but later returned to live in peace after the acession of his son, Egwala Seyun. m. Woizero Walatta Qirqos. He d. at Gondar, 13th September 1813, having had issue, three sons and one daughter:

1795 H.M. Elect of God, Emperor Ba’eda Mariam II, King of Kings of Ethiopia, Nubia, Enarya and all the kingdoms of Saba. b. 1749 (aged 84 in 1833), son of H.M. Elect of God, Emperor Salomon III, King of
Kings of Ethiopia, educ. privately. Fetched from Wahni and raised to the throne by Dejazmatch Wolde Gabriel of Tigray and the Roman Catholic party, at Gondar, 15th April 1795. Crowned at the Cathedral of St Mary of Zion, Axum, 18th May 1795. Deposed December 1795 and exiled to Semien. Briefly restored to the throne by Haile Mariam, for three or four days in April 1826.  Deposed again and allowed to settle peacefully in the Sawada Valley. He d. there after 1833.

Emperor Fasiladas (or of Abeto Kefla Iyasus). Raised to the throne by Ras Israel of Begamder, 18th August 1797. Deposed by Ras Gugsa, 4th January 1798 and exiled to Lasta. m. H.M. Empress (Itege) Aster (d. at the Negus Gemb, Gondar, 11th November 1797, bur. in the Tomb of Empress Mentwab, at the Monastery Church of St Mary, Qwasqwam), crowned as Itege August 1797. He d. at Lalibela, September 1832, having had issue, an only son:

Elect of God, Emperor Admas Seggad III [Takla Haymanot II], King of Kings of Ethiopia, educ. privately. Baptised as Gabre Madakhan. Imprisoned at Wahni by his uncle 1782. Raised to the throne by Ras Wolde Selassie, of Tigray and Ras Merid, 20th May 1796. Crowned as Emperor Salomon, at the Cathedral of St Mary of Zion, Axum, 19th June 1796. Deposed in favour of Yonas 15th July 1797 and settled in Axum under the protection of Ras Wolde Selassie. Reconciled with Emperor Fakr Seggad [Takla Giyorgis I] at Gondar, 16th February 1798. Restored 15th June 1799. Deposed for the last time, 25th July 1799. Exiled to Tigray. m. H.M. Empress Altash, a former concubine of H.M. Elect of God, Emperor Fakr Seggad [Takla Giyorgis I], King of Kings of Ethiopia, and daughter of daughter of H.H. Ras Bitwodad ‘Ali Gwangul, Viceroy of the Empire and Governor of Begameder. He d. at Gondar, 1827 (bur. Axum), having had issue, a son:

younger son of H.M. Elect of God, Emperor Sadiq Seggad [Yohannes II], King of Kings of Ethiopia, by his first wife, Empress Abala Maryam, educ. privately. Proclaimed at Gojjam by Ras Wolde Selassie and Ras Kefla Adyam, 20th July 1779. Proclaimed at Gondar, 23rd July 1779. Crowned there at the Mannagus, as Fakr Seggad (‘He who is loved’). Fled to Ambassel and deposed by Ras Hailu, 8th February 1784. Restored by Ras Ali, following the defeat and death of Dejazmatch Wolde Gabre of Tigray at Madeb, 24th April 1788. Deposed in favour of Hezekeyas, while absent in Arengo, 26th July 1789. Returned and attempted to battle with the rebels, but was surrounded in his camp at Salam and forced to flee to safety to the Abay. Regained the throne by force of arms, January 1794. Deposed for the third time, 15th April 1795. Restored, December 1795. Deposed for the fourth time, 20th May 1796. Restored again, 4th January 1798. Deposed for the fifth time, 20th May 1799. Restored, 24th March 1800 but was deposed for the sixth, and last time, June 1800. A well educated man, skilled in poetry and music, with a sweet disposition. m. (first) before 1782, H.M. Raised to the throne against his will, 25th July 1799. Crowned as Emperor Demetros. Deposed 24th March1800. Restored June 1800. Deposed June 1801. He d. after 9th October 1802 and before 6th June 1803 (bur. Ba’ata).

Elect of God, Emperor Hezekeyas, King of Kings of Ethiopia, educ. privately. Raised to the throne by Ras Gugsa Merso, July 1801. Crowned as Newaya Seggad at the Mannagus, Gondar. m. at Gondar, 1801, Woizero Walatta Iyasus (m. second, before November 1810, H.H. Ras Goshu), sister of H.H. Ras Gugsa Merso, Viceroy of the Empire, and daughter of Merso Barento, by his wife, Woizero Kefey, younger daughter of Gwangul Merid. He d. at Gondar, 12th May 1818 (bur. there at Mariam Gimgar Church, Ba’ata,), having had issue, three sons and two daughters:

1818 - 1821 H.M. Elect of God, Emperor Adyam Seggad III [Iyoas II], King of Kings of Ethiopia, Nubia, Enarya and all the kingdoms of Saba. b. as Prince Iyoas, second son of H.M. Elect of God, Emperor Hezekeyas, King of Kings of Ethiopia, educ. privately. Retreated to Waldabba Monastery 1812-1818. Proclaimed after the death of his brother, by Ras Gugsa the Great, 14th June 1818. Crowned at the Mannagus, Gondar, as Adyam Seggad III, the last of his line to receive a throne name, and thus probably the last to receive the full coronation and consecration according to the ancient customs. He d. at Gondar, 3rd June 1821.

1821 - 1831, 1841 H.M. Elect of God, Emperor Gigar, King of Kings of Ethiopia, Nubia, Enarya and all the kingdoms of Saba. b. 1745, son of Giyorgis Manfesked, son of Gabre Manfeskedu, son of Mammo, a descendant in the direct line of Emperor Fasiladas; or a son of Emperor Iyasu II and brother of Emperor Adyam Seggad II (Iyoas). Entered the priesthood at an early age, but was plucked from obscurity and proclaimed on the death of his great-grand nephew, 3rd June 1821. Briefly deposed by Haile Mariam, for a three or four days in April 1826. Deposed by the Viceroy, Ras Ali, 25th June 1831. Briefly restored again in 1841, but soon deposed at the age of 96 years. m. 1821, Woizero …(d. 30th May 1830). He d. after 1841.

Elect of God, Emperor Gabra Krestos, King of Kings of Ethiopia, Nubia, Enarya and all the kingdoms of Saba, son of Gabre Masai, son of Masraha, son of Wolde Amlak, son of Aganatheos, a descendant of a younger son of Emperor Fasiladas. Raised to the throne by Ras ‘Ali Alula Tekku on 18th March 1832, after the clergy had rejected his first choice, Sahle Dengal. He was k. (poisoned) by Emperor Gigar, 2nd July 1832 (bur. at the Abuna Takla Haymanot Monastery, Andababay, Gondar).

Settled in Wagara under the protection of the Wagshum Gobaze [Emperor Takla Giyorgis III]. m. at the Negus Gemb, Gondar, 30th August 1840, H.M. Empress (Itege) Menen (b. at Warra Himanu, ca. 1800; d. December 1847), née Halima, and later baptised as Woizero Mekonnen, widow of Dejazmatch Wule Gugsa, of Ras Alula Gugsa, and
of Dejazmatch Sahlu, and daughter of Ras Liban Amade Kolase, Imam of the Wollo of Warra Himenu. He d. at Axum, after 1868, having had issue, a son:

Driven from the throne by Empress Menen, 29th August 1840. Restored October 1841. Deposed 1845. Restored for the third time, 1845. Deposed again January 1850. Restored 1851. Captured by Emperor Tewodros at the battle of Dirasge, 8th February 1855. Deposed and allowed to reside in Gojjam, at a small house outside the palace grounds, 11th February 1855. m. H.M.
