Proclaimed on the death of his father, 18th October 1667. Crowned as A’alaf Seggad (‘He to whom thousands bow’). m. October 1667, H.M. Empress (Itege) A’alaf Mogassa (d. at Hamad Bar, 13th January 1690, bur. Arwa Mariam Church, Masraha island, Lake Tana), née Sabla Wangel, crowned as EmpressA’alaf Mogassa, at Gondar, 25th December 1667, widow of his late father, H.M. Elect of God, Emperor ‘Alam Seggad [Sultan Seggad II], King of Kings of Ethiopia, daughter of Prince Gabre Maskal, of the Madabay, by his wife, a sister (or half-sister) of Emperor ‘Alam Seggad [Sultan Seggad II]. He d. at Gondar, 19th July 1682 (bur. at the Arwa Mariam Church, Masraha island, Lake Tana), having had issue, ten sons and five daughters:
