However, Morié p. 307-308 notes that a young
Ethiopian aged 16 or 17 years arrived in Cairo in
December 1700, claiming to be Prince Yishaq, the
only child of Iyasus by the Empress his first
legitimate wife, apparently repudiated and
returned to her family in Gondar. Later sent with
a monk on pilgrimage to Jerusalem and Rome, but
took refuge in Egypt when the monk died on voyage
to Massawa. Later settled in Paris.
