1748-1771 &1772-1779 H.H. Ra'asa ra'usan Mikael Sehul Isqias, Prince (Mesfin) of Tigray. b. ca. 1691, son of Abeto Hezeqeyas [Isqias] Wolde Hawaryot, by his wife, Woizero Ishate Mariam, daughter of Azzaz Yakub, educ. privately. A descendant of Ras Faris the Great. Blattengeta to the Tigray Mekkonen, Ras Amda Haymanot, ca. 1720. Appointed as Dejazmatch of Tigray 20th September 1748 and of Semien 8th October 1757. Raised to the title of Ras and confirmed as Governor of Tigray, Semien, Seggada, Walqat and 44 other governments, 13th September 1759. Established his capital at Adowa. Invested as Ras Bitwodad and Enderase (Viceroy) of the Empire 22nd January 1768. Defeated by rebels at Sarbakusa in May 1771, and forced to surrender to Dejazmatch Wond Bawosen on 4th June 1771. Imprisoned, then later released and allowed to return to Tigray in 1772. m. (first) Woizero Walatta Gabr'el (d. at Adowa, after 1766). m. (second) 1769, Woizero Aster, widow of Dejazmatch Natcho and of Ras Ya Mariam Bariaw, and daughter of Garazmatch Iyasu Milmal and H.M. Empress Berhan Mogassa [Mentwab]. He d. at Adowa (Bala Mika'el), Tigray, 23rd June 1779, having had issue, two sons and four daughters:

1779 - 1784 Dejazmatch Wolde Samuel, Prince (Mesfin) of Tigray, son of H.H. Ra'asa ra'usan Mikael Sehul, Prince of Tigray and Viceroy of the Empire, by his second wife, Woizero Aster, educ. privately. Deputy Governor of Tigray during his grandfather's absence in Gondar 1767-1771, later rebelled against him and established control over the region north of the Takkaze. Succeeded as full ruler on the death of his father, 1779.

1784 - 1788 Dejazmatch Wolde Gabriel, Prince (Mesfin) of Tigray. b. ca. 1757 (aged 13 when Bruce first met him), son of Woizero Walatta Mikael, and grandson of H.H. Ra'asa ra'usan Mikael Sehul, Prince of Tigray, educ. privately. Granted the title of Dejazmatch 18th May 1783. Confirmed as Governor of Tigray, 17th February 1784. Received the additional governorship of Damot and appointed as Mezikker of Agaw 1785. He was k. in battle with Ras Aligaz, by Basha Elufa, at Madeb, 24th April 1788.

1788 - 1790 Ras Gabre Maskal, Prince (Mesfin) of Tigray. b. ca. 1740, son of a sister of H.H. Ra'asa ra'usan Mikael Sehul, Prince of Tigray and a relative of Dejazmatch Kefla Iyasus, of Endarta. Appointed as Governor of Tigray by Emperor Takla Haymanot IV, 1788. Defeated and imprisoned by Ras Wolde Selassie, 1790. He d. ca. 1805, having had a child by one of Ras Mikael's wives.
