• 3) H.R.H. Princess (Ashin Hteik Suhpaya) Myat Mibura Gyi [Ashin Hteik Su Myat Phaya Gyi]. b. at the Royal Palace, Ratnapura, Mandalay, 27^th October 1882 (d/o Suhpaya Lat), educ. privately. Went to Burma in late 1918, but returned again to Ratnagiri in June 1920. m. at Ratnagiri, Bombay, India, 1905 (common law), Shrimant Gopal Bhaurao Savant Shivrekar (d. at Ratnagiri, 1972), sometime Gatekeeper Havildar at Ratnagiri, Bombay, India. She d. at Ratnagiri, Bombay, India, 3^rd June 1947, having had issue, one son and two daughters:

  • a) Tu Tu Savant [S.A.S. Baisubai Shankar Pawar]. b. at Ratnagiri, Bombay, India, 26^th November 1906. m. at Ratnagiri, 1930, Shankar Yeshwant Pawar (b. 1902; d. there, 1976), a garage mechanic. She d. at Ratnagiri, 24^th October 2000 (a few months after being evicted from her residence by the Indian authorities), having had issue, five sons and two daughters:

Princess (Ashin Hteik Suhpaya) Myat Phaya Lat. b. at the Royal Palace, Ratnapura, Mandalay, 4^th October 1883 (d/o Suhpaya Lat), educ. privately. m. at the Collector’s Bungalow, Ratnagiri, Bombay, India, 20^th February 1917 (eloped 11^th October 1916), Khin Maung Lat [Burma Raja Sahib] (b. at Mandalay, 1887; d.s.p. at ‘Panorama’, Kalimpong, India, 10th January 1955, cremated at Tirpai), sometime Officer in the Indian Police (dismissed for insubordination), Private Sec to Ex-King Thibaw 1914-1916, a nephew of King Thibaw and son of the ‘Duke and Duchess’ of Ngape and Ngape and Mindat (Khin Maung Lat was apparently the son of a former Minister for Munitions or Head of the Artillery (Mandalay), by his wife, Hmantha Gyi Ywasar, sometime Maid of Honour to Queen Supayalat). She d.s.p. while en route to Burma, at the Presidency General Hospital, Calcutta, Bengal, India, 4^th April 1956, having adopted the son of her Nepalese maidservant, Satyamaya and her husband Jaiman:
  • a) Maung Lu Gyi [Alaungyi]. b. at Kalimpong, India, 8^th January 1932, as Prem Lall. Clerk at the Burmese Consulate-General at Calcutta 1960-1988. m. at Calcutta, Bina Devi, from Kalimpong. He d.s.p. peacefully in his sleep, at Calcutta, Bengal, 18th December 2008.
• 5) H.R.H. Princess (Ashin Hteik Suhpaya) Myat Phaya. b. at Madras, 7^th March 1886 (d/o Suhpaya Lat), educ. privately. Returned to Burma 1915. Patron King Thibaw Funeral Cttee 1949, and the Assoc for Buddhism as the National Religion 1958. m. (first) 1921(div. 1930) H.H. Prince (Kodaw-gyi) Naing (b. 1903; m. second, Daw Mama Gyi, and d. at Rangoon, 22^nd October 1954 or at Mandalay, 11^th November 1954), son of Maung Maung Thaung, by his wife, Princess (Hteik Hteik Hkaung-tin) Aye, the Princess of War Nwe Gone, daughter of H.R.H. Maha Uparaja Anaudrapa Ainshe Min Maung Kauk, Sri Pawara Maha Suriya Dharmaraja, Prince of Pagan, Debiyeen, Taungwingyi, Sale and Pinyala [the Kanaung Crown Prince]. m. (second) ca 25^th June 1931, U Mya U [Maung Mya U] (b. at Henzada, 1876; d. at Sagaing, July 1943, aged 67 years), educ. Lincon’s Inn, London, Barr-at-Law 26/1/1910, Mandalay, Spokesman for The Separation League 1922-1937, Delegate Burma Reforms Cttee 1922 and Indian Statutory Cmsn 1929-1930, MLC for Mandalay, author of “Lecture on Procedure in Buddhism”, “Wall Paintings of the Abeyadana Temple” (ASIAR, 1930-31), “Exploration in Burma” , “Some Hitherto Unknown Burmese Coins” , and “Note on the Buddha’s Foot-prints in Burma” (all ASIAR, 1930-34), FRGS 1910, Founder Mbr The People’s Party (Pyi Thu Pyi Thar) 1927-1936, Mbr International Buddhist Soc 1905, Buddhist Soc of GB & Ireland, Burma Soc (London), Young Mens Buddhist Assoc (YMBA) 1917, General Council of YMBAs 1911-1919, General Council of Burmese Assocs (GCBA) 1919, etc, son of U Hpo, of Sandoway, Hon Magistrate, merchant and money lender. • 6) H.R.H. Princess (Ashin Hteik Suhpaya) Mayat Phaya Galay. b. at Ratnagiri, Bombay, India, 25^th April 1887 (d/o Suhpaya Lat), educ. privately. Returned to Burma 1915, and ordered to reside in Moulmein 1932. Author of “Private affairs by H.R.H. the fourth Princess, daughter of the late H.M. King Thi Baw and his crowned Queen of Burma whose inner facts are unknown to the public” (1931). m. at Rangoon, Burma, 1^st July 1920, U Ko Ko Naing (b. at Shapinhla, Magwe district, 22^nd July 1890; d. at Rangoon, 2^nd September 1959), a former monk, ordered to reside in Moulmein 1932. She d. at her home on West Cantonment Road, Moulmein, 3^rd March 1936 (bur. there), having had issue, four sons and two daughters:
  • a) George Taw Phaya Gyi. b. at Rangoon, 6^th May 1922, educ. St Patrick’s High Sch, Moulmein, St Paul’s Sch, and Rangoon Univ (BA 1945). Petrol Rationing Officer with Dept of Civil Supplies 1948. m. Rangoon, April 1945, Daw Khin Kyi [Susan] (m. second, U Sein Hlaing, and d. 1995, leaving a further son and two daughters), sister of Maung Maung Khin. He was k. by communist insurgents who mistook him for a police officer, at Tatkon, Central Burma, 9^th April 1948, having had issue, two sons:
    • i) U Soe Win [Maha Chandra Kumara ]. b. 1948. Joined Burmese Foreign Service, First Sec Washington DC 1989-1990, Ambassador Extr & Plen to Japan 1999, Pakistan 1999-2003, and Australia 2003-2005, Deputy Dir-Gen of Protocol 2006-2008, Vice-Chair of Myanmar-China Friendship Assoc, Dir of International Affairs with Myanmar Football Fed. m. Daw Tin Lay Wai.

  • b) Edward Taw Phaya [U Tun Aung]. b. at Rangoon, 22^nd March 1924, educ. St Patrick’s High Sch, Moulmein, and St Paul’s Sch, Rangoon. Dir Thibaw Commercial Syndicate (TCS) Co Ltd 1951-1962. Vice-Presdt Assoc for Buddhism as the National Religion 1958. Mbr National Sports Assoc, Maha Bodhi Soc of India, etc. m. at Rangoon, 4^th May 1944, Princess (Hteik Su) Gyi Phaya [Princess Rita] [Mra Taw Phaya] (b. 20^th May 1924; d. from thrombosis, at Rangoon, 27th November 2002), daughter of H.R.H. Prince (Kodaw-gyi) Naing [Thakin Hteik Tin Kadow Gyi], sometime Presdt Dobama Exec Cttee, by his wife, H.R.H. Princess Myat Phaya, third daughter of H.M Hpondawgyi Hla-thaw Hpaya Shwe Nanshin Hpaya Hsinbyushin Sri Pawara Aditya Lawka Vijaya Nandaratta Tilaka Adipati Pandita Maha Dharma Rajadhiraja [Thibaw Min Thaya Gyi], King of Burma. He had issue, five sons and two daughters:
    • i) Richard Taw Phaya Myat Gyi. b. 14^th May 1945. m. (first) at Rangoon, May 1962, Hteik Su Margaret Phaya Htwe (b. at Rangoon, 20^th August 1927; d. from a brain haemorrhage, at Maymyo, 21st June, 2003), his paternal aunt, younger daughter of U Ko Ko Naing, by his wife, H.R.H. Princess (Ashin Hteik Suhpaya) Mayat Phaya Galay. m. (second) at Rangoon, 1993, Myint Myint Aye. He had issue, one son by his first wife:

  • c) Terence Taw Phaya Nge. b. at Rangoon, 17^th July 1925, educ. St Patrick’s High Sch, Moulmein, St Paul’s Sch, and Rangoon Univ (BA, LLB). Served with Burma Defence Army during the Japanese occupation, a novice monk 1946-1948, Deputy Dir of Religious Affairs Govt of Burma 1948, sometime English teacher, re-took holy orders at Moulmein December 1994. m. (first) 1955 (div. 1963) Ma Khin Su. m. (second) 1964, Ma Khin Zaw, from Moulmein. He d. at a Buddhist monastery near Moulemein, 21^st April 1995, having had issue, one son and three daughters:
  • i) Maung Min Thu Aung (s/o Ma Khin Zaw). He d. young due to “slovenly neglect” by his mother, 1962.
  • i) Ma Akeyi (d/o Ma Khin Su).

  • a) Hteik Su Tessie Phaya Gyi [Daw Su Su Khin]. b. at Rangoon, 5^th April 1923, educ. Catholic Sch, Mawlamyine. Employed at the US and Australian embassies in Rangoon, sometime school teacher. m. 1943, Maung Maung Khin (d. at Rangoon, 1984), brother of Daw Khin Kyi [Susan]. She d. 1943, having had issue, three sons and two daughters:
  • i) Maung Win Khin. b. at Rangoon, 1945.
  • ii) Maung Khyaw Khin. b. at Rangoon, 1948.
  • iii) Maung Aung Khin. b. at Rangoon, 1953. Artist. He d. from a cerebral haemorrhage, October 2008.
  • i) Ma Cho Cho Khin. b. at Rangoon, 1943.
  • ii) Ma Devi Khin. b. at Rangoon, 1951.
  • b) Hteik Su Margaret Phaya Htwe. b. at Rangoon, 20^th August 1927. m. at Rangoon, May 1962, as his first wife, Richard Taw Phaya Myat Gyi (b. 14^th May 1945), eldest son of her nephew, Edward Taw Phaya [U Tun Aung],  by his wife, Princess (Hteik Su) Gyi Phaya Rita [Mra Taw Phaya], daughter of H.H. Prince (Hteik Tin) Kodaw Gyi Naing. She d. from a brain haemorrhage, at Maymyo, 21^st June, 2003, having had issue, a son - see above.
