Athet-u-san-paing-than-ashin Hpondawgyi Hla-thaw Hpaya Shwe Nanshin Hpaya Hsinbyushin Sri Pawara Aditya Lanka Vijaya Nandaratta Tilaka Adipati Pandita Maha Dharma Rajadhiraja [Thiri Pawara Ditya Lanka Wizara Nanda Yatha Tilawkadhipati Pandita Maha Dhamma Razadhiraza] [Thibaw Min Thaya Gyi], King of Burma. b. at the Royal Palace, Ratnapura, Mandalay, 1st January 1859, as Maung Pu, forty-first son of H.M. Sri Pawara Vijaya Nandaratta Pandita Maha Dharma Rajadhiraja Mindon Min Thaya Gyi, King of Burma, by his wife, H.M. Queen Sri Maha Mangala Suriya Prabha Devi, Laungshe Myosa Mibura, daughter of General H.R.H. Prince Maung Mey, Sri Suriya Maha Dharmaraja, Prince of Thibaw, Governor-General of the Shan States, educ. SPG Royal Sch., Mandalay. Granted Thibaw in fief and raised to the title of Suriya Sri Dharmaraja in his youth. Appointed as Heir Apparent with the titles of Maha Uparaja Anaudrapa Ainshe Min and Sri Pawara Maha Suriya Dharmaraja, 19th September 1878. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1st October 1878. Crowned at the Royal Palace, Ratnapura, Mandalay, 6th November 1878 and again 23rd May 1880. Declared war against Great Britain, 7th November 1885. Defeated, captured and deposed, 29th November 1885. Exiled to India 10th December 1885, thenceforth styled His Highness the Ex-King Thibaw. m. (first) at the Royal Palace, Ratnapura, Mandalay, 6th November 1878, his half-sister, H.M. Queen (Nammadaw Mibura Hkaung Gyi) Suriya Sri Ratna Mangala Devi (b. at the Royal Palace, Amarapura, Mandalay, 1854; d. at Myingun), previously styled H.R.H. Princess (Hteik Suhpaya Gyi) raised to the rank and title of Nammadaw Mibura Hkaung Gyi Suriya Sri Ratna Mangala Devi and crowned at the Royal Palace, Amarapura, Mandalay, 18th November 1878, became a nun after being displaced by Suhpaya as Chief Queen, the eldest daughter of H.M. Sri Pawara Vijaya Nandaratta Pandita Maha Dharma Rajadhiraja Mindon Min Thaya Gyi, King of Burma, by his wife, H.M. Queen (Ale-nandaw Hsinbyumashin Mibura Gyi) Sri Tilaka Sri Maha Dharmaraja, third daughter of H.M. Sri Pawara Vijaya Nanda Jatha Maha Dharma Rajadhiraja Yanadapura Sattokhta Myoti Min Thaya Gyi [Bagyidaw], King of Burma. m. (second) at the Royal Palace, Ratnapura, Mandalay, 6th November 1878, his half-sister, H.M. Queen (Myauk-nandaw Mibura) Sri Prabha Ratna Devi (b. at the Royal Palace, Ratnapura, Mandalay, 13th December 1859; d. at Rangoon, 24th November 1925, bur. there), raised to the rank and title of Myauk-nandaw Mibura Hkaung Gyi Sri Pawara Tilaka Mangala Maha Ratna Devi and crowned at the Royal Palace, Amarapura, Mandalay, 18th November 1878, née H.R.H. Princess Suhpaya Lat, Princess of Mya Daung (Myadaung Minthami), second daughter of H.M. Sri Pawara Vijaya Nandaratta Pandita Maha Dharma Rajadhiraja Mindon Min Thaya Gyi, King of Burma, by his wife, H.M. Queen (Ale-nandaw Hsinbyumashin Mibura Gyi) Sri Tilaka Sri Maha Dharmaraja, third daughter of H.M. Sri Pawara Vijaya Nanda Jatha Maha Dharma Rajadhiraja Yanadapura Sattokhta Myoti Min Thaya Gyi [Bagyidaw], King of Burma. m. (third) at the Royal Palace, Ratnapura, Mandalay, August 1880, his half-sister, H.R.H. Princess (Hteik Hkaung-tin) Min Myo Yee, Sri Suriya Mangala Devi, Princess of Maingnaung (Maingnaung Minthami) (b. at the Royal Palace, Ratnapura, Mandalay, 1857), daughter of H.M. Sri Pawara Vijaya Nandaratta Pandita Maha Dharma Rajadhiraja Mindon Min Thaya Gyi, King of Burma, by his wife, Shin Ley, Megeebensauk Myosa Mibura. m. (fourth) at the Royal Palace, Ratnapura, Mandalay, August 1880, his half-sister, H.R.H. Princess (Hteik Suhpaya Gale) Sri Suriya Singha Ratna Devi (b. at the Royal Palace, Ratnapura, Mandalay, 1863; d.s.p. at Ratnagiri, Bombay, India, 25th June 1912, bur. there) daughter of H.M. Sri Pawara Vijaya Nandaratta Pandita Maha Dharma Rajadhiraja Mindon Min Thaya Gyi, King of Burma, by his wife, H.M. Queen (Ale-nandaw Hsinbyumashin Mibura Gyi) Sri Tilaka Sri Maha Dharmaraja, third daughter of H.M. Sri Pawara Vijaya Nanda Jatha Maha Dharma Rajadhiraja Yanadapura Sattokhta Myoti Min Thaya Gyi [Bagyidaw], King of Burma. m. (fifth) at the Royal Palace, Ratnapura, Mandalay, 1881, H.M. Queen (Myauk-saungdaw Mibura) (b. 1864; k. by order of Queen Supaya Lat, at Mandalay, April 1882), née Mi Hkin Gyi, daughter of the Kanne Atwinwun, and granddaughter of the Hkampan Wungyi He d. at Ratnagiri, Bombay, India, 15th December 1916 (bur. there), having had issue, two sons and six daughters:
