1886 - 1903 H.H. Maharajadhiraja Raj Rajeshwar Sawai Shri Sir Shivajirao [Bala Sahib] Holkar XII Bahadur, Maharaja of Indore, GCSI (30.6.1887). b. at Indore, 11th November 1859, third son of General H.H. Maharajadhiraja Raj Rajeshwar Sawai Shri Sir Tukojirao II Holkar XI Bahadur, Maharaja of Indore, GCSI, CIE, by his fourth wife, H.H. Maharani Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Parvati Bai Sahiba, educ. Indore High Sch and Daly Coll, Indore. Succeeded on the death of his father, 17th June 1886. Installed on the gadi, at Indore, 12th July 1886. Attended the Golden Jubilee celebrations of Queen Victoria in London, 1887. Abdicated in favour of his eldest son, 31st January 1903. Rcvd: Golden Jubilee medal (1887, with Diamond Jubilee bar 1897), and Delhi Durbar gold medal (1903). m. (first) at Indore, 20th May 1865, H.H. Maharani Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Girja Bai Sahib Holkar. m. (second) at Indore, 18xx, H.H. Maharani Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Chandrabhaga Bai Sahib Holkar. m. (third) at Indore, 18xx, H.H. Maharani Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Sita Bai Sahib Holkar (d. at Maheshwar, 12th December 1890). He d. at Maheshwar, 13th October 1908, having had issue two sons and six daughters:
1903 - 1926 H.H. Maharajadhiraja Raj Rajeshwar Sawai Shri Sir Tukojirao III Holkar XIII Bahadur, Maharaja of Indore, GCIE (1.1.1918). b. at Maheshwar, 26th November 1890, eldest son of H.H. Maharajadhiraja Raj Rajeshwar Sawai Shri Sir Shivajirao [Bala Sahib] Holkar XII Bahadur, Maharaja of Indore, GCSI, by his third wife, H.H. Maharani Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Sita Bai Sahib Holkar, educ. Mayo Coll., Ajmer and with ICC, Dehra Dun. Succeeded on the abdication of his father, 31st January 1903. Reigned under a Council of Regency until he came of age and was invested with full ruling powers, 6th November 1911. Attended the Coronation of the King-Emperor George V in London in 1911. Founded the Holkar Order of Merit in February 1914 and the Order of the Ahilya Holkar Sultanat on 22nd November 1920. Field Marshal and C-in-C, Indore State Forces 1903-1926. Abdicated in favour of his only son, 26th February 1926. Rcvd: Delhi Durbar gold medals (1903 and 1911), Coron medal (1911), and DGBStJ (25.11.1911). m. (first), at Indore, 16th March 1895, H.H. Maharani Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Chandravati Bai Sahib Holkar (d. 1937), née Gawade. m. (second), at Indore, 8th December 1913, H.H. Maharani Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Indira Bai Sahib Holkar (d. after 1960), Mngr Education, Medical, Charitable & Household Depts 1923-1924, Chair All-India Women's Cttee 1953, daughter of Rao Bahadur Anandrao Ramkrishna Talcharkhar, of Bombay, by his wife, the daughter of Rao Bahadur Mukundrao Ramachandra. m. (third), at the Daryava Mahal, Barwada, 17th March 1928, H.H. Maharani Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Sharmista Devi Sahib Holkar [Sharmista Devi] (b. at Seattle, Washington, USA, 9th September 1907; d. at the Sukh Niwas Palace, Indore, 1995), née Nancy Anne Miller, educ. Univ. of Washington, Seattle, who became a member of the Dhanar caste and was adopted by Princess Tara Bai and Colonel Lambhate before her marriage, daughter of Mr John Miller, of Seattle, Washington, and sometime goldminer of Miller Gulch, Alaska, by his wife, Mrs Jennie Miller, daughter of Louis Schaeffer, of Seattle, Washington, and Lausanne, Switzerland, by whom he had issue four daughters. He d. 21st May 1978, having had issue, including one son and six daughters:
1926 - 1961 H.H. Maharajadhiraj Raj Rajeshwar Sawai Shri Yeshwantrao II Holkar XIV Bahadur, Maharaja of Indore, GCIE (1.1.1935). b. 6th September 1908, educ. Cheam Sch., Surrey, Charterhouse and Christ Church, Oxford (MA). Succeeded on the abdication of his father, 26th February 1926. Installed on the gadi at the Juna Rajwada Palace, Indore, 11th March 1926. Reigned under a Council of Regency until he came of age. Invested with full ruling powers, at King Edward Durbar Hall, Indore, 9th May 1930. Mbr Second Indian Round Table Conference in London 1931. Inaugurated a Legislative Council enjoying a wide franchise and representing diverse interests within the state. Established cabinet government consisting of a Prime Minister and three Ministers of State. Field Marshal and C-in-C Indore State Forces 1926-1961. Hon Maj-Gen IA 15/10/1946. Signed the instrument of accession to the Dominion of India, 11th August 1947. Merged his state into the Madhya Bharat Union, 28th May 1948 and served as Senior Up-Rajpramukh until 31st October 1956. He subsequently worked for the UNO. Rcvd: Silver Jubilee (1935), Coron (1937) and Indian Independence (1948) medals. m. (first) at Indore, 9th February 1924, H.H. Maharani Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Sanyogita Bai Sahib Holkar (b. 1914; d. at Tarasp, Switzerland, 13th July 1937), née Shrimant Chandraprabha Bai Sahib Ghatge [Akka Sahib], eldest daughter Meherban Shrimant Chiranjiva Rajashri Dattajirao Ghatge [Bala Sahib], Sarjerao, Desmukh, Chief of Kagal (Junior), by his third wife, Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Shakutala Bai Sahib Ghatge, a lady from the Rana family of Nepal. m. (a) at Mexico City, 19th September 1938 (div. 1943) Marguerite (b. at Fargo, North Dakota, USA, 13th July 1904; m. third, at Las Vegas, Nevada, 15th January 1945 (div. 6th July 1945), Charles W. Masters, and d. at Corona del Mar, California, USA, 2nd May 1963), née Marguerite Lawler, educ., Sacred Heart Convent, Lake Forest, Illinois; Romona Convent, Alhambra, California, and Hunter Coll., New York, trained as a nurse at St Mary's Hospital, Minneapolis, later employed with the Union Pacific Railway and at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Los Angeles, personal nurse to Mrs Alexander Pantages 1927-1937, and to the Maharaja Holkar 1937-1938, styled Maharani Holkar without the style of Her Highness 1938-1943, volunteer with the Women Approved For Volunteer Emergency Service, USN (WAVES) 1943-1945, former wife of John Paul Branyon, and second child of Mr. J. B. (Tom) Lawler, of Minnesota, USA, sometime switchman for the Northern Pacific Railroad Co. m. (b) at Reno, Nevada, USA, 6th July 1943 (div. 1960), Euphemia Watt [Fay] (b. 1st July 1914; d. at Santa Rosa, Sonoma, California, USA, 6th September 1994), former wife of Frank Arthur Crane. He d. at Breach Candy Hospital, Bombay, 5th December 1961, having had issue, one son and one daughter:

Maharanidhiraja Rani Rajeshwar Sawai Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Usha Devi Maharaj Sahiba Holkar XV Bahadur, Maharani of Indore. b. at Paris, France, 20th October 1933, only daughter and heiress of H.H. Maharajadhiraj Raj Rajeshwar Sawai Shri Yeshwantrao II Holkar XIV Bahadur, Maharaja of Indore, GCIE, by his first wife, H.H. Maharani Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Sanyogita Bai Sahib Holkar, daughter Meherban Shrimant Chiranjiva Rajashri Dattajirao Ghatge, Sarjerao, Desmukh, Chief of Kagal (Junior), educ. Hoover Elementary Sch., Santa Ana, Calif., USA, and privately in India and Europe. Declared Heiress-Apparent, in preference to her only brother, by special gazette of the Government of India, 1950. Succeeded on the death of her father, 5th December 1961 (recognised by the Presdt. of India). The GOI amended the Indian Constitution to remove her position as a "ruler" and her right to receive privy-purse payments, 28th December 1971. m. Shrimant Sardar Satish Chandra Malhotra, of Windemere, Cuffe Parade, Colaba, Bombay, educ. Daly Coll., Indore and the Doon Sch., Dehra Dun, Chair. Empire Industries Ltd., Empire Institute of Learning, Brd. of Governors Daly Coll., Indore, Presdt. All-India Federation of Master Printers, Founder Trustee Ahilyabai Holkar Educational Trust.
