Shrimant Banaji alias Malhaji Holkar. He had issue, three sons:

        • (1) Shrimant Tanuji Holkar. He had issue, three sons:
          • (a) Shrimant Mahadji Holkar. He had issue, three sons:
            • (i) Shrimant Sardar Babuji Holkar (same as Bapuji?). An adherent of Raghunathrao. Fl 1778-1780.
            • (ii) Shrimant Sardar Bapuji Holkar [Rajshri Bapu Rao Holkar] (same as Babuji?). Snr Counsellor to Tukojiro and cdr of his forces in Rajputana. He served under his uncle with great distinction, inflicting a tremendous defeat over the British at the Battle of Wargaon in January 1779, forcing them to sue for peace and surrender Raghoba. He joined in the invasion of Tipu’s territories in 1786, annexing Navalgund, Gadag, Sirhatti, Sunsi, New Hubli and Old Hubli. Special Envoy for the settlement of differences with Scindia in 1792. Later an adherent of Khasi Rao Holkar, whom he served as Bakshi 1793-1799.
            • (iii) Shrimant Banaji Holkar.
            • (iv) Shrimant Sardar Rao Sahib Mahipat Rao Holkar. One of the party of sardars who espoused the cause of Khasi Rao Holkar, and attempted to release him from confinement. Subsequently proclaimed as their head and intended sovereign by the Kandesh Patans under Dadan Khan, following the murder of Khasi Rao before 16th February 1808. Attacked and defeated by the British when they invaded the Nizam’s territory and threatened Poona with their depredations. Mahipat escaped capture, but thereafter fell into obscurity.

            • (i) Shrimant Bhikaji Holkar.

              • b. Shrimant Sardar Gandharerao Holkar [Bhau Sahib], of Amba. Granted a half share in the village of Neuguradia by his cousin, at the behest of Maharaja Harirao Holkar. Granted the jagir of Lalendi following the adoption of his younger son. Subsequently exchanged for Amba and granted a sanad accordingly. He d. 19th May 1859, having had issue, three sons:
                • i. Raja Shrimant Sir Kashirao Gandharerao Holkar [Dada Sahib], KCSI (31.12.1875). b. at Neuguradia, near Mhow, 17th March 1832, educ. privately. Chief Officer of the Shagird Pesha, Household Officer 1849-1886, Joint Minister 1886. Performed personal services during the Indian Mutiny in 1857, receiving public recognition by the Viceroy, Lord Canning, in open durbar, 14th January 1861. He inherited two shares of the Amba jagir in Mhow and received the jagirs of Sheoni, Badhia, and Bhagora. Rcvd: Prince of Wales’s silver medal (1876) and KIH silver medal (1877). m. five wives, including (first) Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Anandibai Sahib Holkar. m. (third) Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Lakshmibai Sahib Holkar. He d. 10th May 1902, having had issue, one son and one daughter:

                  • 1a. Shrimant Gautamabai Sahib Holkar (d/o Anandibai).
                • Sir Kashirao, also adopted a son and heir from a distant branch of the family, after the death of his son:
                  • 2a. Shrimant Sardar Ganpatrao Kashirao Holkar [Bhaiya Sahib]. Adopted by Sir Kashirao, 17th March 1894. He d. of the plague at Bhagora, 24th September 1906, when his widows adopted a son and heir on his behalf:
                    • 1b. Shrimant Sardar Malharrao Ganpatrao Holkar. b. 1895, educ. Daly Rajkumar Coll, Indore, and in England. Adopted by the widows of Ganpatrao, 13th April 1907. Invested with the administrative powers over his jagirs, 3rd April 1916. Granted the personal title of Sardar, 21st August 1930. Rcvd: Delhi Durbar silver medal (1911). m. Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Premlatabai Sahib Holkar. He d. after 1951, having had issue, three sons and two daughters:
                      • 1c. Shrimant Sardar Prataprao Malharrao Malharrao Holkar. b. March 1922.He d.s.p. having adopted son and heir:
                        • 1d. Dr Udayasingh Raje Prataprao Holkar [Uday Singh Holkar] [Bala Kaka Saheb]. National Sec Ahilyabai Holkar Tricentenary Celebration Cttee 2024. m. Shrimant Soubhagyavati Madhuri Holkar, née Kanitkar. He had issue:
                          • 1e. Kumar Abhaysingh Uday Singh Holkar, educ. IPS Acad, and New Digambar Public Sch, Indore, Maharashtra.
                      • 2c. Shrimant Narhanrao Malharrao Holkar. He had issue, two sons:

                          • 1e. Kumar Raghavendra Singh Santajirao Holkar. b. at Indore, 12th October 1999, educ. Advanced Academy Sch, Napania, Indore.
                          • ?1e. Yashodhara Holkar, educ. Advanced Academy Sch, Napania, Indore.
                      • 1c. Shrimant Sanjeevanibai Holkar [Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Sanjeevanibai Borade]. b. 1918. m. Sanjayrao Pandurang Rao Borade, son of Captain Pandurang Rao Bhagwant Rao Borade, sometime ADC to Maharaja Tukojirao III, by his wife, Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Sundarabai Borade, nee Holkar. She d. 1993, having had issue, four daughters.
                      • 2c. Shrimant Hemlatabai Holkar [Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Hemlatabai Borade]. m. Harishchandra Borade, son of Colonel Chandrasen Rao Borade. She had issue, two sons.
                • ii. Kumar Mulhajirao [Malhar Rao] Gandharerao Holkar, adopted by H.H. Maharani Krishranabai Maji Sahiba, and ascended the gadi as H.H. Maharajadhiraj Raj Rajeshwar Sawai Shri Sir Tukojirao II Holkar XI Bahadur, Maharaja of Indore – see below.
                • iii. Raja Shrimant Parajirao Gandharerao Holkar [Raja Sahib]. He had issue, an only son:
                  • 1a. Shrimant Sardar Shankarrao Parajirao Holkar. He d.s.p. having adopted son and heir:
                    • 1b. Shrimant Ramchandra Shankarrao Holkar [Bhahu Sahib]. Rcvd: Delhi Durbar silver medal (1911).
          • (iii) Shrimant Ithuba Holkar.
  • 3) Shrimant Heluji Holkar. He had issue, four sons:
    • a) Shrimant Khandoji Holkar, of Vir. m. Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Jiwaji Bai, a sister of Shrimant Sardar Bhojirajrao Bargal, of Talode, in the Khandesh district. He d. 1697, having had issue, two sons:
      • i) Shrimant Sardar Malharrao I Holkar I Subadar Bahadur, Subadar of the Holkar Domains - see below.
      • ii) Shrimant Sardar Pirbhuji Holkar. He was k. in battle with Raja Udwat Singh Bundela, in Orchha, before 24th June 1732.

    • c) Shrimant Sardar Santaji Holkar, of Mandagaon, Deccan. He seized Jalghon fort after the death of Umed Singh 1795. He had issue, one son:
      • i) Shrimant Manaji Holkar, of Durjanpur. An adherent of Kashi Rao Holkar. He had issue, three sons:
        • (1) Shrimant Vithaji Holkar.
        • (2) Shrimant Mukhtarji Holkar. He had issue, two sons:
          • (a) Shrimant Malharji Holkar. He had issue, one son:
            • (i) Shrimant Pandoba Holkar, of Mandgaon.
          • (b) Shrimant Anandrao Holkar, of Jallein. He had issue, a son:
            • (i) Kumar Mahipat Rao Holkar. A candidate for adoption put forward by Amanbai [Emabai] Sahib and Maharani Larabai in December 1811, but actually at the instigation of Scindia’s agent Jatiba Mania. The insurrection in his favour was crushed by Nawab Ghafur Khan of Jaora and Raja Rana Zalim Singh of Kotaa. The two ladies murdered, and the prince put to flight to Khandesh. He gathered a small band of followers and returned to assert his claims in the following year, but was utterly defeated and forced to flee.
        • (3) Shrimant Tukoji Holkar. He had issue, one son:
          • (a) Shrimant Ithoba [Ektoji] Holkar. He had issue, three sons:
            • (i) Shrimant Sardar Nanajirao Holkar, of Mandgaon.
            • (ii) Shrimant Sardar Bapujirao Holkar, of Jotsikhera. He had issue, one son:
              • 1. H.H. Maharajadhiraj Raj Rajeshwar Sawai Shri Khanderao Holkar X Bahadur, Maharaja of Indore - see below.
            • (iii) Shrimant Sardar Santojirao Holkar. He had issue, two sons:
              • 1. Shrimant Sardar Mukhtajirao Holkar. b. 1834.
              • 2. Shrimant Yeshwantrao [Tukarji] Holkar.
    • d) Shrimant Sardar Rorji Holkar. Amil of Kaitha.
