1572-1573 & 1574-1610 Maharao Shri Surtan Singhji, Rao Sahib of Sirohi. b. 1558, grandson of Thakuran Raj Shri Randhir Singhji, of Nandia, a grandson of Rao Lakha, educ. privately. Supposedly adopted and appointed heir apparent by Maharao Man Singh on his deathbed. Selected by the Deora nobles and proclaimed at Sirohi, 1573. His succession being disputed by the Chief Minister, Bija Singhji Deora, for period of eight months. Later deposed for another short period by his erstwhile saviour, Kalla Deora, who had been sent by Maharana Pratap Singh of Mewar. Accepted Mughal suzerainty by submitting to Mir Muhammad Khan in 1573, but rebelled against them in 1576. Captured and sent as a prisoner to Delhi by Maharaja Rai Singh of Bikaner, and Sirohi annexed to Ajmer in 1580. Restored and permitted to return to Sirohi, after winning the sympathy of the Emperor for his stubborn refusal to yield. He took up arms against the Mughals again, defeated and imprisoned for a second time. Restored in 1583, but only on the understanding that Jagmal would govern half the state. He fought in 52 battles against the Muslims, but was repeatedly defeated. Known to their historians as Sultan Deora or Sarman, "who in his pride, shot arrows at the sun for daring to shine upon him". m. (first) a daughter of Maharana Shri Pratap Singhji II, Maharana of Mewar. m. (second) ca. 1583, a daughter of Maharana Shri Amar Singhji, Maharana of Mewar. He d. 1610, having had issue, including and eldest son:

1610 - 1622 Maharao Shri Raj Singhji, Rao Sahib of Sirohi, eldest son of Maharao Shri Surtan Singhji, Rao Sahib of Sirohi, educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1610. He was k. by his minister, Prithvi Raj, 1622, having had issue, a son:

1620 - 1673 Maharao Shri Akheraj II, Rao Sahib of Sirohi, son of Maharao Shri Raj Singh, Rao Sahib of Sirohi, educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1622. Imprisoned by his eldest son, Udaibhan, in 1663, but released after the intervention of Maharana Raj Singhji I of Mewar. m. Rani Shri Ratan Kanwar Sahiba (d. after 1675). He d. 1673, having had issue:

1673 - 1697 Maharao Shri Verisalji I, Rao Sahib of Sirohi, younger son of Maharajkumar Shri Udaibhan, educ. privately. Proclaimed on the death of his grandfather, 1673. Reigned under the Regency of his paternal uncle, Uday Singhji, until his death in 1676. He d. at Sirohi, 1697 (when three of his wives joined committed sati), having had issue, at least three sons, including:

1697  Maharao Shri Surtan Singhji II, Rao Sahib of Sirohi, only surviving son of Maharao Shri Verisalji I, Rao Sahib of Sirohi. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1697. Dethroned by his cousin and fled for his life to his relatives in Jodhpur. Settled there with his brothers, and granted Devatra in jagir by the Jodhpur Durbar.
