GENEALOGY
1771 - 1819 H.H. Maharajadhiraj Maharaja Mahimahendra Maharao Raja Shri Umed Singhji I Sahib Bahadur, Maharao Raja of Kotah. b. at the City Palace, Kotah Fort, 1761, eldest son of Maharajadhiraj Maharaja Mahimahendra Maharao Raja Shri Shri Shri Shri Shri Guman Singh Sahib Bahadur, Maharao Raja of Kotah, by his wife, Jhaliji Maharani Ganga Bai Sahiba, sister of Raj Rana Zalim Singh Bahadur, educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his father, 17th January 1771. Installed on the gadi, at Kotah Fort, 28th January 1771. He tool little part or and showed no interest in state affairs, preferring to patronise the arts and artists to a great degree. State affairs continued to remain in the control of his maternal grandfather, the Musahib-i-Ala "Mamajiraj" Zalim Singh, throughout his reign, and long after he attained his majority. Signed a treaty of friendship and alliance with the HEIC, 26th December 1817 (ratified 6th January 1818). A subsequent supplementary article to the treaty dated 7th March 1818 confirmed the hereditary control of state affairs to Raj Rana Zalim Singh Bahadur and his male heirs. He d. at the City Palace, Kotah Fort, 19th November 1819, having had issue, three sons:
1828 - 1866 H.H. Maharajadhiraj Maharaja Mahimahendra Maharao Raja Shri Ram Singhji II Sahib Bahadur, Maharao Raja of Kotah. b. at Kotah, 1808, only son of Maharaj Shri Prithvi Singhji Sahib, educ. privately. Designated as Heir Apparent by his paternal uncle, 7th December 1827. Proclaimed on the death of his uncle, 21st July 1827 and ascended the gadi, at Kotah Fort, 1st August 1828. Besieged within Kotah Fort by mutinous troops during the Indian Mutiny, after they had murdered the British Political Agent and his family in October 1857. Relieved by a joint force composed of loyal Hadas, British and Karauli troops, 30th March 1858. However, the British suspected him of collusion with the mutineers and reduced his gun salute from 17 to 15-guns as a punishment, April 1858. Granted a sanad of adoption, 11th March 1862. m. (first) H.H. Rathorji Maharani Sahiba, daughter of Thakur Shri Bairi Sal, Thakur of Junian, in Ajmer-Merwara. m. (second) H.H. Shri Jadamanji Maharani Sahiba, a princess of Karauli. m. (third) H.H. Chandawatji Maharani Anup Kunwar Sahiba, from Salumbar. m. (fourth) H.H. Ranawatji Maharani Phul Kunwar Sahiba, a princess of Mewar. m. (fifth) at Jaisalmer, 19th February 1843, H.H. Bhatianiji Maharani Bai Raj Shri Gulab Kunwarji Sahiba, daughter of Meherban-i-Dostan Thakuran Raj Shri Shri Maha Singh Sahib, of Jaisalmer state. m. (sixth) H.H. Tanwarji Maharani Sahiba (d. at Kotah Fort, after 1867). He d. at the City Palace, Kotah Fort, 27th March 1866, having had issue, a son:
1866 - 1889 H.H. Maharajadhiraj Maharaja Mahimahendra Maharao Raja Shri Shatru Sal II Sahib Bahadur, Maharao Raja of Kotah. b. as MaharajkumarShri Bhim Singh, son of H.H. Maharajadhiraj Maharaja Mahimahendra Maharao Raja Shri Ram Singhji II Sahib Bahadur, Maharao Raja of Kotah, by his first wife, H.H. Rathorji Maharani Sahiba, educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his father, 27th March 1866. Ascended the gadi assuming the reign name of Shatru Sal II, at Kotah Fort, 28th March 1866. Restored to a salute of 17-guns 1866. Rcvd: Prince of Wales's gold medal (1876), and KIH gold medal (1877). m. 1854, a daughter of H.H. Maharajadhiraj Shri Pratap Pal Deo Bahadur, Yadukul Chandra Bhal, Maharaja of Karauli. He d. at the City Palace, Kotah Fort, 11th June 1889, having had issue, an only son:
