 1916 - 1918 H.H. Maulana Paduka Sri Tuanku Sultan Sir ‘Abdu’l Jalil Nasir ud-din al-Muhtaram Shah Radiu’llah ibni al-Marhum Sultan Sir Idris Murshid al-Azzam Shah Rahmatu’llah, Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan of Perak, KCMG (3.6.1917). b. before 23rd April 1870, eldest son of Colonel H.H. Maulana Paduka Sri Tuanku Sultan Sir Idris Murshid al-Azzam Shah Rahmatu’llah ibni al-Marhum Raja Bendahara Alang Iskandar, Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan of the State of Perak, GCMG, GCVO, by his first wife, H.H. Raja Nuteh Aisha binti al-Marhum Sultan Yusuf Sharif ud-din Muzaffar Shah Ghafiru’llah, Raja Perempuan, daughter of H.H. Paduka Sri Tuanku Sultan Yusuf Sharif ud-din Muzaffar Shah Ghafiru’llah ibni al-Marhum Sultan ‘Abdu’llah Muhammad Shah Duran Sabatang, Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan of Perak. Granted the title of Raja di-Hiler 15th January 1898, prom to Raja Bendahara Wakil us-Sultan Wazir al-Kabir 25th February 1907, and apppointed as Heir Apparent with the title of Tuanku Raja Muda, Wakil us-Sultan, Wazir ul-Azam, 6th April 1908. MSC 1908-1916. Succeeded on the death of his father, 14th January 1916. Proclaimed 17th January 1916. Crowned at Istana Negara, Kuala Kangsar, 7th September 1916. m. (first) H.H. Che’ Yong Sapiah binti Muhammad Yunus, Raja Permaisuri (d. at Istana Negara, Kuala Kangsar, 19th October 1917, bur. there at Al-Ghufran Royal Cemetery, Bukit Chandan), raised to the title of Raja Permisuri together with the style of Her Highness 7th September 1916, daughter of Muhammad Yunus, Dato’ Panglima Besar. m. (second) 1916, H.H. Raja Nuteh Zahra [Jahrah] binti al-Marhum Sultan ‘Ali al-Mukammil Inayat Shah Nabiu’llah, Raja Perempuan, crowned with her husband at Istana Negara, Kuala Kangsar, 7th September 1916, only daughter of H.H. Paduka Sri Tuanku Sultan ‘Ali al-Mukammil Inayat Shah Nabiu’llah ibni al-Marhum Sultan Shahab ud-din Ri’ayat Shah Saifu’llah, Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan of Perak, by his wife Cik Putri Long, daughter of Dato’ Megat ‘Abbas. m. (third) Y.M. Raja Lee Mardziah binti Raja Kulop Muhammad Kramat [Mata Hari Melayu] [Engku Li] [Raja Batok] (d. after 1962), elder daughter of Y.M. Raja Kulop Muhammad Kramat bin Raja Alang Iskandar, of Kuala Dipang, by his wife, Y.M. Raja Puteh Hawa. m. (fourth) Hajjah Noriah. He d. at Istana Negara, Kuala Kangsar, 26th October 1918 (bur. there at the Al-Ghufran Royal Cemetery, Bukit Chandan), having had issue, five sons and four daughters (including two sons and three daughters by his first wife):

1918 - 1938 Colonel H.H. Paduka Sri Tuanku Sultan Sir Iskandar Shah al-Kaddasu’llah ibni al-Marhum Sultan Sir Idris Murshid al-Azzam Shah Rahmatu’llah, Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan of the State of Perak, GCMG (19.6.1933, KCMG 1.1.1921), KCVO (25.6.1924). b. at Kuala Keboi, Kampar, 10th May 1881, third son of Colonel H.H. Maulana Paduka Sri Tuanku Sultan Sir Idris Murshid al-Azzam Shah Rahmatu’llah ibni al-Marhum Raja Bendahara Alang Iskandar, Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan of Perak, GCMG, GCVO, by his third wife, Cik Ngah Manah binti Manda Duwayat, To’ Puan Besar, educ. Taiping Central Sch, Malay Coll, Kuala Kangsar, and Balliol Coll, Oxford. Attached to the Secretariat at Taiping 1900-1905, Asst Cmsnr of Police 1905, MSC Perak 1916-1918. Granted the title of Raja Kechil Tengah, prom. to Raja Bendahara Wakil us-Sultan Wazir al-Kabir 17th April 1916, and appointed as Heir Apparent with the title of Tuanku Raja Muda, Wakil us-Sultan, Wazir ul-Azam April 1918. Succeeded on the death of his brother, 26th October 1918. Proclaimed December 1918. Crowned at Kuala Kangsar, 10th April 1919. He succeeded in securing the retrocession of the Dindings and Pangkor Island from the Crown in 1935. Mbr Perak Turf Club, Taiping Turf Club, Singapore Turf Club, etc. Rcvd: Coron (1903 & 1937), and Silver Jubilee (1935) medals, medals, and KGC (special grade) of the Order of the Crown of Siam (9.10.1924). m. (first) at Pekan, 26th June 1909, Y.A.M. Tengku Nong Fatima binti al-Marhum Al-Sultan Sir Ahmad al-Mu’azzam Shah (d. at Kuala Kangsar, 19th October 1916, bur. there at the Al-Ghufran Royal Cemetery, Bukit Chandan), third daughter of H.H. Paduka Sri Baginda Sultan Sir Ahmad al-Mu’azzam Shah ibni al-Marhum Dato’ Bendahara Sri Maharaja Tun ‘Ali, Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan of the State of Pahang, KCMG. m. (second) at Kuala Kangsar, 1916, H.H. Cik Ngah Manah binti Mande Duwayat, Raja Permaisuri, rcvd: the Ratanaborn Order of Siam (20.10.1924). m. (third) H.H. Cik Puteh Salah binti ‘Abdu’llah, Raja Permaisuri (b. 1868; d.s.p. at Kuala Kangsar, 10th June 1960, bur. there at the Al-Ghufran Royal Cemetery, Bukit Chandan). (fourth) 1920, H.H. Raja Puteh Umi Kalsum binti Raja Kulop Muhammad Kramat, Raja Perempuan (b. at Kuala Dipang, 1901; m. second, ca 1940, Y.D.H. Tengku Adlan bin Tengku Adil, Tok Raja di-Raja, and d. at Istana Bukit Chandan, Kuala Kangsar, 9th May 1972, bur. there at the Royal Mausoleum), younger daughter of Y.M. Raja Kulop Muhammad Kramat bin Raja Alang Iskandar, of Kuala Dipang, by his wife, Y.M. Raja Sofia binti Raja Ibrahim. m.
