GENEALOGY
1913 - 1949 H.E. Shaikh ‘Abdu’llah bin Jasim Al-Thani, Ruler of Qatar, CIE (3.6.1919). b. at Doha, 1871, son of Shaikh Jasim bin Muhammad Al-Thani, Ruler of Qatar, by his wife, Shaikha Noor bint Muhammad Al-Ghanim, educ. privately. Governor of Doha 1906-1913. Proclaimed as regent when his father became incapacitated, 13th May 1913. Succeeded on his death, 17th July 1913. Established his independence from Turkey, 1915. Signed a treaty of protection with Great Britain, 3rd November 1916. Abdicated in favour of his eldest son, 20th August 1949. Settled at Al-Rayyan. Rcvd: Silver Jubilee (1935) and Coron (1937) medals. m. (first) a lady from the Al-Suwaidi. m. (second) a daughter of Shaikh Jasim bin Faisal al-Thani. m. (third) Shaikha Mariam bint ‘Abdu’llah al-Attiyah (bur. Al-Rayyan Cemetery), daughter of Shaikh ‘Abdu’llah bin Muhammad al-Attiyah. m. (fourth) Shaikha Sheikha Al-Buainin. m. (fifth) a lady from the al-Hitmi. m. (sixth) 1936, a daughter of Muhammad bin Khalid bin Ghanim al-Ma’adhdah. He d. at Doha, 25th April 1957 (bur. Al-Rayyan Cemetery), having had issue, three sons:
