Svasti Sri Giriraj Chakrachudamani Narnarayanetyadi Vividha Virudavali Virajamana Manonnata Shriman Maharajadhiraja Sri Sri Sri Maharaj Rajendra Bir Bikram Jang Bahadur Shah Bahadur Shamsher Jang Devanam Sada Samaja Vijayinam, Maharajadhiraja of Nepal, by his first wife, H.H. Sri Sri Sri Maharani Samrajya Lakshmi Devi, educ. privately. Appointed as Heir Apparent with the title of Sri Sri Sri Sri Sri Yuvarajadhiraj by his father. Granted the title of Sri Sri Sri Sri Sri Maharajadhiraj, together with certain executive powers, September 1842. Attempted a coup d'etat by having himself "accepted" as King by troops loyal to him, at Bichekoh, 10th December 1844. Returned to Katmandu 14th December, and was granted supreme authority save the throne, conduct of foreign affairs and control of the mint by his father on 18th December 1844 (annulled 23rd December 1844). Regent, 23rd November 1846. Succeeded on the deposition of his father, and Crowned on the same day at the Nyasal Chowk, Hanuman Dhoka Palace, Basantapur, Katmandu, 12th May 1847. m. (first) H.H. Sri Sri Sri Sri Sri Sahila Bada Maharani Sura Rajya Lakshmi Devi (d. at the Hanuman Dhoka Palace, Basantapur, Katmandu, 28th May 1842). m. (second) at the Hanuman Dhoka Palace, Basantapur, Katmandu, 1st May 1843, H.H. Sri Sri Sri Sri Sri Bada Maharani Trailokya Rajya Lakshmi Devi (d. at the Hanuman Dhoka Palace, Basantapur, Katmandu, October 1850), daughter of the Raja of Gulmi. m. (third) at the Hanuman Dhoka Palace, Basantapur, Katmandu, before 12th February 1845, H.H. Sri Sri Sri Sri Sri Maharani …Rajya Lakshmi Devi (d. young). m. (fourth) before 1865, H.H. Sri Sri Sri Sri Sri Kancha Bada Maharani Deva Rajya Lakshmi Devi (d. at the Hanuman Dhoka Palace, Basantapur, Katmandu, August 1876). m. (fifth) at the Hanuman Dhoka Palace, Basantapur, Katmandu, February 1877, H.H. Sri Sri Sri Sri Sri Maharani Punya Kumari Rajya Lakshmi Devi (d. at Katmandu, 1882), daughter of Commanding-General H.E. Krishna Bahadur Kunwar Rana, C-in-C. He d. at the Hanuman Dhoka Palace, Basantapur, Katmandu, 17th May 1881, having had issue, three sons:
