Svasti Sri Giriraja Chakra Chudamani Narayanetyadi Vividha Virudavali Virajamana Manonnata Mahendramala Ojaswirajanya Parama-Gaurabmaya-Tejaswi-Tribhuvana-Prajatantra-Shripada Parama-Ujjwala-Kirtimaya-Nepal-Shripada Parama-Projjwala-Nepal-Tara Parama-Pavitra-Om-Ram-Patta Parama-Jyotirmaya-Subikhyata-Tri-Shakti-Patta Parama-Suprasiddha-Prabala-Gorkha-Dakshina-Bahu Mahadhipati Shriman Sri Sri Sri Sri Sri Maharajadhiraja Mahendra Bir Bikram Jang Bahadur Shah Bahadur Shamsher Jang Devanam Sada Samaja Vijayinam, King of Nepal, by his first wife, H.R.H. Crown Princess Indra Rajya Lakshmi Devi,  educ. St Joseph's Coll., Darjeeling, India, and Tribhuvan Univ., Katmandu (BA 1969). Proclaimed as King on the deposition of his grandfather by Prime Minister Maharaja Mohan Shamsher, 6th November 1950. Ascended the gadi at the Nyasal Chowk, Hanuman Dhoka Palace, Basantapur, Katmandu, 7th November 1950. Deposed when no foreign government would recognise his accession, 8th January 1951. Chair. Coronation Cttee. 1975, Lumbini Development Trust 1985-1992 and King Mahendra Trust for Nature Conservation (KMTNC) 1982-2001, Mbr. Raj Sabha 1977-1990, and Raj Parishad 1990-2001. Appointed Regent for his incapcitated nephew, King Dipendra, 2nd June 2001. Succeeded on his death and ascended the gadi on the same day, for a second time, at the Nyasal Chowk, Hanuman Dhoka Palace, Basantapur, Katmandu, 4th June 2001. Supreme C-in-C Royal Nepalese Army, and Sovereign of the Royal Orders, from that date. Field Marshal Royal Nepalese Army 2nd June 2001. Deposed by a majority vote of the Constituent Assembly 28th May 2008, which proclaimed Nepal a federal republic. Patron: Royal Nepal Acad., King Mahendra Trust for Nature, Lumbini Dvpt. Trust, and Pashupati Area Dvpt. Trust (PADT); Chancellor Tribhuvan and Mahendra Sanskrit Univs. Founded the Birendra Chain (Birendra Mala) and the Birendra Democracy Decoration (Birendra Prajatantra Bhaskara) in four classes on 29th December 2002, in memory of his late brother. Queen Komal Shah] (b. at Bagmati, Katmandu, 18th February 1951), educ. St Mary's Sch, Jawalakhel, St Helen's Convent, Kurseong and Kalanidhi Sangeet Mahavidhyalaya, Katmandu; installed at the Coronation of her husband at the Nyasal Chowk, Hanuman Dhoka Palace, Basantapur, Katmandu, 4th June 2001; PC 2001, Mbr. Raj Sabha 1977-1990, and Raj Parishad 1990-2001, Patron Assoc. of St Mary's Alumnae Nepal; Chair. Pashupati Area Development Trust (PADT); Presdt.
