grandfather by Prime Minister Maharaja Mohan Shamsher, 6th
November 1950. Ascended the gadi at the Nyasal
Chowk, Hanuman Dhoka Palace, Basantapur, Katmandu, 7th
November 1950. Deposed when no foreign government would
recognise his accession, 8th January 1951.

Succeeded on his death and ascended the gadi on
the same day, for a second time, at the Nyasal Chowk,
Hanuman Dhoka Palace, Basantapur, Katmandu, 4th
June 2001. Supreme C-in-C Royal Nepalese Army, and
Sovereign of the Royal Orders, from that date. Field
Marshal Royal Nepalese Army 2nd June 2001.
Deposed by a majority vote of the Constituent Assembly 28th
May 2008, which proclaimed Nepal a federal republic. Patron:
