1927 - 1948 H.H. Sri Paduka Tuanku Sultan Mahmud 'Abdu'l Jalil Rahmad Shah ibni al-Marhum Sultan 'Abdu'l 'Aziz, Sultan of Langkat. b. at Kota Dalam, 19th July 1893, son of H.H. Sri Paduka Tuanku Sultan 'Abdu'l 'Aziz 'Abdu'l Jalil Rahmad Shah ibni al-Marhum Sultan Haji Musa al-Khalid al-Mu'azzam Shah, Sultan of Langkat, by his first wife, H.H. Tengku Alautiah binti Raja Muda Tengku Sulaiman, Tengku Mahasuri, daughter of Tengku Sulaiman ibni al-Marhum Sultan Panglima Mangedar Otteman, Raja Muda and Regent of Deli, educ. privately. Appointed as Heir Apparent and invested with with the title of Raja Muda 1899. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1st July 1927. Installed at the Istana Dar ul-Aman, Tanjung Pura, 24th October 1927. Attended the Golden Jubilee Celebrations of Queen Wilhelmina, in Amsterdam, 1938. Held under detention and ill treated by the revolutionaries from March 1946 until freed by Dutch troops in July 1947. Rcvd: Knt of the Order of the Netherlands Lion (21.10.1935), GC of the Order of the Dragon of Annam (17.2.1939), and Cdr of the Order of Leopold II of Belgium (29.3.1939). m. (first) at Istana Dar ul-Aman, Tanjung Pura, 1917, H.H. Tengku Rauda binti al-Marhum Tuanku Al-Haji Muhammad Shah, Tengku Permaisuri (b. 8th August 1892; d. 9th March 1971), installed at Tanjug Pura, as Tengku Permaisuri 2nd September 1927, eldest daughter of H.H. Sri Paduka Tuanku Al-Haji Muhammad Shah ibni al-Marhum Tuanku Al-Haji 'Abdu'llah Ni'matu'llah Shah, Yang di-Pertuan of Kualuh and Leidong, by his wife, H.H. Tengku Zubaida binti Tengku Al-Haji Ismail, Tengku Ampuan, daughter of Y.A.M. Tengku Al-Haji Ismail ibni al-Marhum Sultan Usman al-Sani Perkasa 'Alam Shah, Tengku Pangeran Nara, of Bedagai, by whom he had issue, 12 children. m. (second) Inche' Sri Dharma [Seridam]. m. (third) Inche' Asmah. He d. from grief, at Manggalaan, Medan, 23rd April 1948 (bur. Masjid Azizi, Tanjungpura), having had issue, four sons and ten daughters:

Tengku Atha'ar ibni al-Marhum Sultan Mahmud 'Abdu'l Jalil Rahmad Shah, Head of the Royal House of Langkat. b. at Istana Dar ul-Aman, Tanjung Pura, 14th November 1929, second son of H.H. Sri Paduka Tuanku Sultan Mahmud 'Abdu'l Jalil Rahmad Shah ibni al-Marhum Sultan 'Abdu'l 'Aziz, Sultan of Langkat, by his first wife, H.H. Tengku Raudah binti al-Marhum Tuanku Al-Haji Muhammad Shah, Tengku Permaisuri. Succeeded as Head of the Royal House of Langkat, on the death of his father, 23rd April 1948. m. Y.M. Tengku Radliya binti Tengku Mansur Shah, eldest daughter of Y.A.M. Tengku Mansur Shah ibni al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Shah, Tengku Besar, sometime Regent of Kualuh, by his wife, Tengku Darjat, eldest daughter of H.H. Sri Paduka Tuanku Sultan Muhammad Husain Rahmad Shah II ibni al-Marhum Sultan Ahmad Shah, Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan of Asahan. He d. (s.p?) 14th June 1990.

Tengku Mustafa Kamal Pasha ibni al-Marhum Sultan Mahmud 'Abdu'l Jalil Rahmad Shah, Head of the Royal House of Langkat. b. at Istana Dar ul-Aman, Tanjung Pura, 27th August 1935, youngest  son of H.H. Sri Paduka Tuanku Sultan Mahmud 'Abdu'l Jalil Rahmad Shah ibni al-Marhum Sultan 'Abdu'l 'Aziz, Sultan of Langkat, by his first wife, H.H. Tengku Raudah binti al-Marhum Tuanku Al-Haji Muhammad Shah, Tengku Permaisuri. Succeeded as Head of the Royal House of Langkat, on the death of his elder brother, 14th June 1990. m. Y.M. Tengku Zulfa binti Tengku Harison, only daughter of Y.M. Tengku Harison, of Bedagai, Deli, by his wife, Y.A.M. Tengku Maimuna binti al-Marhum Sultan 'Abdu'l Aziz 'Abdu'l Jalil Rahmad Shah, daughter of H.H. Sri Paduka Tuanku Sultan 'Abdu'l 'Aziz 'Abdu'l Jalil Rahmad Shah ibni al-Marhum Sultan Haji Musa al-Khalid al-Mu'azzam Shah, Sultan of Langkat. He had issue, a son:

[1999 - 2001] Y.A.M. Tengku Herman Shah ibni al-Marhum Tengku Kamil Aziz [Dr T Hermasyah], Head of the Royal House of Langkat. b. at Tanjung Pura, 7th August 1940, third son of Y.A.M. Tengku Kamil ibni al-Marhum Sultan ‘Abdu’l Aziz ‘Abdu’l Jalil Rahmad Shah, Pangeran of Bedagai, by his wife, Y.A.M. Tengku Arfah binti al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Husain Rahmad Shah, daughter of H.H. Sri Paduka Tuanku Sultan Muhammad Husain Rahmad Shah II ibni al-Marhum Tengku Muhammad ‘Adil, Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan of Asahan. Recognised by the thirteen chiefs of Langkat as Sultan designate 22nd May 1999, but never confirmed by the government of Indonesia or formally installed. m. Y.M. Tengku Zuraida binti Tengku Amir Shah [Nde Ida] (b. posthumously, at Tanjung Balai, Asahan,), younger daughter of Y.M. Tengku Amir Shah bin Raja Salim [T Anir Syah], of Johor-Singapore, by his wife, Y.A.M. Tengku Jawahir binti al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Husain Rahmad Shah, daughter of H.H. Paduka Sri Tuanku Sultan Muhammad Husain Rahmat Shah II ibni al-Marhum Tengku Muhammad ‘Adil, Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan of Asahan. He d. at Medan, 8th August 2001 (bur. Azizi Mosque, Tanjung Pura).

Tengku Murad Aziz ibni al-Marhum Sultan 'Abdu'l Aziz 'Abdu'l Jalil Rahmad Shah, by his wife, Y.A.M. Hajjah Tengku Maheran binti al-Marhum Sultan 'Alam Shah Otteman al-Sani Perkasa 'Alam, eldest daughter of H.H. Sri Paduka Tuanku Sultan 'Alam Shah Otteman II al-Sani Perkasa 'Alam ibni al-Marhum Sultan 'Amal ud-din al-Sani Perkasa 'Alam Shah, Sultan of Deli. Succeeded his first cousin as Head of the Royal House of Langkat, 2001. Selected by the thirteen hereditary chiefs and nobles of the principality as Sultan of Langkat, 29th May 2002. Installed at Tanjung Pura, with the title of Sri Paduka Tuanku Sultan Iskandar Hilali 'Abdu'l Jalil Rahmad Shah al-Haj, 27th October 2002. m. Y.M. Hajjah Dr. Mirla Safrina. He d. suddenly, in hospital, at Medan, 21st May 2003 (bur. Azizi Mosque, Tanjung Pura).

SMA Negeri 1, and the Faculty of Economics of the Univ of North Sumatra, Medan. Dir National Agency for Export Development in North Sumatra for the Indonesian Dept of Industry & Trade, Dir North Sumatra Provincial Trade & Industry Office 2006, Chair Kerapatan Adat Kesultanan Langkat (KAKL), Sec Asahan Development Authority 2009-2010, Dir of North Sumatra Provincial Research & Development Dept 2010, etc. Recognised and proclaimed as Sultan by the thirteen members of the Royal clan, principal noblemen and the territorial chiefs of Langkat, at Medan, 21st May 2003. Installed on the same day, at the Balairung, Istana Agong Kota Ma’amun, Medan, with the title of Sri Paduka Tuanku Sultan Azwar ‘Abdu’l Jalil Rahmad Shah al-Haj. m. at Medan, 2nd October 1982, Hajjah Marina Indra Utama [Ny Marina Aziz] (b. at Medan, 1st March 1958). He had issue, one son and one daughter:
