1840 - 1893 H.H. Sri Paduka Tuanku Sultan al-Haj Musa al-Khalid al-Mahadiah Mu’azzam Shah ibni al-Marhum Sultan Ahmad, Sultan of the State of Langkat. b. at Kota Dalam, 1807, as Tengku Ngah Musa, second son of Raja Ahmad Shah ibni al-Marhum Raja Indra Bongsu, Sultan of the State of Langkat, by his wife, Tengku Kanah, educ. privately. Recognised as ruler of Langkat by the Sultan of Siak, after the death of his father, 1840. Styled Pangeran Mangku Negara Raja Muda of the State of Langkat from 1849. Forced to accept Acehnese sovereignty in 1854, then raised to the title of Pangeran Indra di-Raja, Amir Pahlawan Sultan Aceh. Entered into a political contract with the Government of the Netherlands East Indies, in which he was recognised as independent of both Aceh and Siak, 26th October 1869 (when he was granted the style of His Highness). Raised to the title of Sultan, together with the style and designation of Musa al-Khalid al-Mahadiah Mu’azzam Shah His Highness, in recognition of his many years of loyalty and service by the Queen of the Netherlands, 14th July 1887. Abdicated in favour of his second son, 23rd May 1893. m. (first) Y.M. Tengku Sharikat Alam binti al-Marhum Wan Supan (d.s.p.), daughter of Y.A.M. Tuanku Wan Supan bin Raja Wan Jabar [Sutan Japura], sometime Wakil of Stabat. m. (second) Encik Chandu, sister of the Datuk of Pantai Cermin/Terusan. m. (third) Hajjah Siti Mariam binti Imam Sutan, sister of the Datuk of Kampung Hinai. m. (fourth) 1849, Wan Sri Banum (d.s.p.), younger daughter of Orang Kaya Banu Hashim [Benuasyim] bin Datuk ‘Ali, Datuk Setia di-Raja, of Pangkalan Buluh, in Hamparan Perak, by his wife, Putri Manyak, elder daughter of Datuk Undan Surbakti, of Tanjung Selamat. m. (fifth) Y.A.M. Tengku Kusut binti al-Marhum Sultan Ismail Mu’ab ud-din Ri’ayat Shah, Tengku Ampuan (d.s.p.), daughter of (?) H.H. al-Mastur Bsetriu’llah al-Jamil Paduka Sri Tuanku Sultan Ismail Mu’ab ud-din Ri’ayat Shah ibni al-Marhum Sayyid Shaikh al-Khairat Shah [al-Marhum Mangkat di-Sekudai], Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan of Perak Dar ul-Ridzwan. m. (sixth) the mother of Sutan Muda, by whom he had no issue. m. (seventh) a sister of the Kejuruan of Karang, by whom he also had no issue. m. (eighth) H.H. Tuanku Hajjah Maslurah binti Tengku Besar Desan [Meshaurah], Tengku Permaisuri (d. at Tanjung Pura, before 31st March 1903, daughter of Y.M. Wan Desan, Tengku Panglima Besar Setia di-Raja of Binjai. He d. at Gebang, Tanjung Pura, May 1897, having had issue, seven sons and two daughters:
