Sri Paduka Tuanku Sultan ‘Abdu’l ‘Aziz ‘Abdu’l Jalil Rahmad Shah ibni al-Marhum Sultan al-Haj Musa al-Khalidal-Mu’azzam Shah, Sultan of the State of Langkat. b. at Tanjung Pura, 19th May 1875, third son of H.H. Sri Paduka Tuanku Sultan al-Haj Musa al-Khalidal-Mahadiah Mu’azzam Shah ibni al-Marhum Sultan Ahmad, Sultan of the State of Langkat, by his third wife, H.H. Tuanku Hajjah Maslurah binti Tengku Besar Desan [Meshaurah], Tengku Permaisuri, daughter of Y.M. Wan Desan, Tengku Panglima Besar Setia di-Raja of Binjai, educ. privately. Appointed as Heir Apparent by his father, in preference to his older brothers, 1881 (formally recognised and confirmed by the govt of the NEI on 14th July 1887, with the proviso that his eldest half-brother would act as his guardian during his minority). Proclaimed on the abdication of his father, 23rd May 1893. Installed at Tanjung Pura, 23rd May 1894. Rcvd: Cdr of the Order of Orange-Nassau (31.8.1920), Knt of the Order of the Netherlands Lion, and Cdr 2nd class of the Order of Henry the Lion of Brunswick (1910). m. (first) 1892, H.H. Tengku Alautih binti Raja Muda Tengku Sulaiman [Alutik], Tengku Mahasuri (d. at Tanjung Pura, 31st October 1897, bur. there at the Masjid Azizi), installed at Tanjung Pura, as Tengku Mahasuri 23rd May 1894, daughter of Y.A.M. Tengku Sulaiman ibni al-Marhum Sultan Panglima Mangedar Otteman, Raja Muda and Regent of Deli, by his wife, Gendak, daughter of Datuk Setia Raja, of Kampung Hamparan Perak. m. (second) January 1898, H.H. Tengku Aisha binti al-Marhum Sultan Zainal Rashid Mu’adzam Shah, Tengku Permaisuri (d.s.p. at the Istana Dar ul-Aman, Tanjung Pura, Langkat, 11th January 1904, bur. there at the Masjid Azizi), installed at Tanjung Pura, as Tengku Permaisuri January 1898, daughter of H.H. Sultan Zainal Rashid Mu’adzam Shah II ibni al-Marhum Sultan Ahmad Taj ud-din Mukarram Shah, Sultan of Kedah, by his wife, Y.M. Tengku Miriam binti Tengku Zia ud-din, eldest daughter of Y.A.M. Tunku Zia ud-din ibni al-Marhum Sultan Zain al-Rashid al-Mu’azzam Shah, sometime Viceroy of Selangor. m. (third) at Perbaungan, Serdang, 8th March 1905, H.H. Tengku Fatima Sham binti Tengku Putih ‘Abdu’l Kadir, Tengku Permaisuri (cre. 1905) (b. 1890; d. at the Istana Dar ul-Aman, Tanjung Pura, Langkat, 23rd May 1919, bur. there at the Masjid Azizi), daughter of Y.M. Tengku Putih ‘Abdu’l Kadir bin Tengku Zainal Abidin, by his wife, Y.M. Tengku Ngah Saleha binti Sutan Siddiq, daughter of Y.A.M. Sutan Siddiq ibni al-Marhum Sultan Thaf Sinar Bashar Shah, Tengku Temenggong, sometime Wakil at Perbaungan. m. (fourth) Aja Loyah. m. (fifth) Y.M. Tengku Putri. m. (sixth) Y.M. Tengku Ainum. m. (seventh) at Klang, Selangor, December 1919, H.H. Tengku Putri Zahara binti al-Marhum Sultan ‘Ala ud-din Sulaiman Shah, Tengku Permaisuri (b. 18th December 1899; d. 18th January 1982), installed at Tanjung Pura, as  Tengku Permaisuri December 1919, daughter of Colonel H.H. Sultan ‘Ala ud-din Suleiman Shah ibni al-Marhum Raja Muda Musa, Sultan of Selangor, GCMG, KCVO, by his first wife, H.H. Tengku Maharum binti Tengku Zia ud-din, Tengku Ampuan, daughter of Y.A.M. Tengku Zia ud-din ibni al-Marhum Sultan Zain al-Rashid al-Mu’azzam Shah [Tunku Kudin], Viceroy of Selangor. m. (eighth) Encik Pediwi. m. (ninth) Encik Sanggit. He d. after a long illness, at the Istana Dar ul-Aman, Tanjung Pura, Langkat, 1st July 1927 (bur. there at the Masjid Azizi), having had issue, thirteen sons and ten daughters:
