1754 - 1775 H..H. Wazir ul-Mamalik-i-Hindustan, Shuja ud-Daula, Nawab Jalal ud-din Hyder Khan Bahadur, Asad Jung [Arsh Manzil], Nawab Wazir of Oudh. b. at the Mansion of Prince Dara Shikoh, Shahjahanabad, Delhi, 19th January 1732, only son of H.H. Wazir ul-Mamalik-i-Hindustan, Asaf Jah, Shuja ud-Daula, Jamat ul-Mulk, Nawab Muhammad Muqim Abu’l Mansur Khan Bahadur, Safdar Jung, Sipah Salar, Nawab Wazir of Oudh, by his first wife, H.H. Nawab Aliya Sadr-i-Jahan Begum Sahiba [Nawab Begum], eldest daughter of H.H. Wakil-i-Mutlaq, Burhan ul-Mulk, Itimad ud-Daula, Nawab Sa’adat Khan Bahadur, Shaukat Jung, Nawab of Oudh, educ. privately. Raised to the personal title of Shuja ud-Daula 19th June 1748. General of the Artillery (Mir-i-Atish) 16th July 1748-8th May 1753, Paymaster of the Corps of Gentlemen (Bakshi-i-Ahdiyan), Superintendent of Grants and Appointments (Arze-Mukarrar), Superintendent of the Macebearers (Gurz-bardaran) and Master of the Horse (Jilau-i-Khas) 29th September 1752-8th May 1753, Superintendent of the Privy Chamber (Ghush-khana), 1st January 1753-8th May 1753, Naib Wazir ul-Mamalik-i-Hindustan 3rd August 1750-November 1750, 1st February 1751-4th May 1752, and 6th September 1752-16th March 1753, Naib Subadar of Oudh 1753. Succeeded on the death of his father as Subadar of Oudh and Allahabad, 5th October 1754 (confirmed by the Emperor, 11th October 1754). Superceded on the appointment of Prince Mirza Baba, 16th March 1757. He joined with the Rohillas and Ahmad Shah Durrani, and together inflicted a crushing defeat on the Marathas. Rewarded for his services by appointment as Wazir ul-Mamalik-i-Hindustan by Emperor Shah Alam, 15th February 1762. Joined Mir Qasim in his conflict with the HEIC, but was severely defeated at Buxar and Kura Jahanabad in 1764. Entered into treaty relations with the HEIC, forced to pay a heavy indemnity, but received recognition of his sovereignty and most of the territories that he had lost in battle. Joined the British and defeated the Marathas at Ram Ghat in 1773, and occupied Rohilkhan in 1774. m. (first) at the Red Fort, Shahjahanabad, Delhi, ca. October 1745, H.H. Nawab ‘Ammat uz-Zohra Begum Sahiba [Nawab Bahu Begum Sahiba] (b. in Persia, before 31st July 1731; d. at the Moti Mahal, Dilkusha Palace, Fyzabad, 8th January 1815, bur. Jawahir Bagh), only daughter of Mu’taman ud-Daula, Nawab Muhammad Ishaq Khan Bahadur, sometime Imperial Minister of Crown Lands. m. (second) Nawab Umda Begum Sahiba, daughter of Muin ul-Mulk, Rustam-i-Hind [Mir Mannu], sometime Naib Subadar of Lahore. m. (third) 1754, Nawab Aliya Begum Sahiba, daughter of Nawab Quli Khan Bahadur Dagistani, Ja’afar Jung, a noble of Delhi, by Ramjani, a former courtesan. m. (fourth) at Lucknow, 22nd June 1770, a daughter of Nawab ‘Ali Beg Khan Bahadur, Shitab Jung. m. (1) H.H. Nawab Khurd Mahal Sahiba (d. at Lucknow, after 1803). m.
