1911 - 1933 Lieutenant-Colonel H.H. Shri Maharaja Sir Amar Prakash Bahadur, Maharaja of Sirmur, KCSI (3.6.1915), KCIE (1.1.1921). b. at Nahan, 26th January 1888, eldest son of H.H. Shri Raja Sir Surendra Bikram Prakash Bahadur, Raja of Sirmur, KCSI, by his wife, H.H. Shri Suketwala Rani Subhadra Deviji Sahiba, educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his father, 4th July 1911. Installed on the gadi, at Nahan, 24th October 1911. Cmsnd as Hon Major IA 3/6/1915, prom Hon Lieut-Col King George's Own Sappers and Miners, IA 1/1/1918. Raised to the hereditary title of Maharaja 1st January 1918. Granted with unrestricted power to pass sentences of death, as a personal mark of distinction 1919. Granted a personal salute of 13-guns 1931. His reign saw the inauguration of several important developments including the extension of metalled roads, completion of the Surendra Dam, extension of free primary education, and the bulding of several schools, libraries, and hostels. The state forces served with distinction during the Great War, in particular the heroic defence of Kut Al Amara in Mesopotamia 1915-1916. Rcvd: Delhi Durbar gold medal (1911). m. at the Sirmur Camp, Dehra Dun, 4th March 1910, H.H. Shri Maharani Mandalasa Kumari Deviji Sahiba (b. at Katmandu, 1896; d. February 1973), née Shri Shri Shri Maharajkumari Mandalasa Rajya Lakshmi, Dir Jagatsons International Corp, eldest daughter of Field Marshal H.H. Swasti Shri-Madarti-prachandra-bhujadandetyadi Maharaja Shri Shri Shri Deva Shamsher Jang Bahadur Rana, Maharaja of Lambjang and Kaski and Prime Minister of Nepal, by his first wife, Shri Shri Shri Bada Maharani Krishna Kumari Devi Sahiba, daughter of General H.H. Crown Prince Trailokya Bir Bikram Shah Deva, of Nepal. He d. at the Wiennier Cottage Sanatorium, Vienna, Austria, 13th August 1933, having had issue, one son and two daughters:
