GENEALOGY

1736 - 1757 Raja Shreeman Jai Singhji Bahadur, Raja of Sailana. b. at Ratlam, 1698, second son of Raja Shrimant Keshri Singhji Bahadur, Raja of Ratlam, by a Bundi princess, educ. privately. He joined his elder brother in an insurrection against their uncle Raja Pratap Singhji, killed him, and divided the territories between them in late 1716. Enlarged his holdings and made himself independent in 1730. Established his capital and founded the new town of Sailana in 1736, from which the state takes its name. m. a daughter of Maharajadhiraj Maharawat Shri Prithvi Singhji Bahadur, Maharawat of Partabgarh. He d. at Sailana, 1757, having had issue, four sons and two daughters:

1757 - 1772  Raja Shreeman Jaswant Singhji I Bahadur, Raja of Sailana, third son of Raja Shreeman Jai Singhji Bahadur, Raja of Sailana, educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1757. He d.s.p.m. 1772 (succ. by his younger brother), having had issue:

1772 - 1782  Raja Shreeman Ajab Singhji Bahadur, Raja of Sailana, youngest son of Raja Shreeman Jai Singhji Bahadur, Raja of Sailana, educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his elder brother, 1772. Successfully defended his throne against the revolt by his brother, Daulat Singhji. He d. 1782, having had issue, three sons:

1782 - 1797  Raja Shreeman Mokham Singhji Bahadur, Raja of Sailana, eldest son of Raja Shreeman Ajab Singhji Bahadur, Raja of Sailana, educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1782. He d. 1797, having had issue, one son:
 
1797 - 1826 H.H. Raja Shreeman Lakshman Singhji Bahadur, Raja of Sailana, son of Raja Shreeman Mokham Singhji Bahadur, Raja of Sailana, educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1797. A strong ruler, who inflicted a decisive defeat on Scindia's army commanded by Bhujang Rao and forced him to offer tribute. He concluded a Treaty with the HEIC 5th January 1819, accepting British protection and agreed a fixed tribute payable to Gwalior at 42,000 Salim Shahi p.a., in return for Scindia agreeing to refrain from any interference in Sailana. He resigned from he active administration of state affairs to his son and devoted his time to religious duties. He d. a Chharias, near Sailana, 1826, having had issue:

1826 - 1827 H.H. Raja Shreeman Ratan Singhji Bahadur, Raja of Sailana, only surviving son of H.H. Raja Shreeman Lakshman Singhji Bahadur, Raja of Sailana, educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1826. m. (first) H.H. Shrimati Rani Gulab Kunverba Sahiba, daughter of Thakore Shri Jhalum Singhji, of Mundetti, in Idar, by his Rathore wife, the daughter of the Rao of Pol. m. (second) H.H. Shrimati Rani Nath Kanwarji Ba Sahib (b. 1795; d. at the Raj Mahal, Sailana, 1885, Presdt. Regency Cncl. 1857-1859. He d.s.p. at the Raj Mahal, Sailana, 1827.

1827 - 1841 H.H. Raja Shreeman Nahar Singhji Bahadur, Raja of Sailana, son of Shreeman Maharaj Bhopat Singhji Sahib, of Deolan, educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his childless nephew, 1827. He d. at the Raj Mahal, Sailana, 23rd August 1841, having had issue, a son:

1841 - 1850 H.H. Raja Shreeman Takht Singhji Bahadur, Raja of Sailana, son of H.H. Raja Shreeman Nahar Singhji Bahadur, Raja of Sailana, educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his father, 23rd August 1841. He d. at the Raj Mahal, Sailana, ca. 17th September 1850, having had issue, an only surviving son:
