GENEALOGY
1913 - 1944 H.H. Rai Rayan Mahimahendra Maharawalji Sahib Shri Sir Prithvi Singhji Sahib Bahadur, Naresh Rajya, Maharawal of Banswara, KCIE (2.1.1933). b. at Banswara, 15th July 1888, eldest son of H.H. Rai Rayan Mahimahendra Maharawalji Sahib Shri Shumbhu Singhji Sahib Sahib Bahadur, Naresh Rajya, Maharawal of Banswara, by his second wife, H.H. Shrimthi Rathorjisa Maharani Kesar Kunwar Sahiba, educ. Mayo Coll, Ajmer, Rajputana, and Allahabad Univ, Allahabad, UP. Appointed as Heir Apparent on the accession of his father 29th April 1905, and invested with the title of Maharaj Raj Kumar Shri Prithvi Singhji Sahib, Yuvaraj Sahib of Banswara, at the Durrih Khana, Banswara Palace, 30th April 1905. His father abdicated administrative powers in his favour in September 1908. The government of the state was then placed under the direct supervision of the Political Agent for the Southern Rajputana States, until he underwent sufficient training and experience before assuming power. Attached to Rao Bahadur Raj Singh, of Bedla (Udaipur Mewar) for a period of political and administrative training. Mbr Banswara State and State Judicial Councils 1911-1913, Mbr for Revenue & Customs Depts 1911-1912, Police, Forests and PWD 1912-1913, and Vice-Presdt State Council 1912-1913. Assumed full administrative powers to govern the state on his father’s behalf, September 1913. Succeeded on the death of his father and ascended the gadi on the same day, at the Durrih Khana, Banswara Palace, 27th December 1913. Formally installed on the gadi, at the Durrih Khana, Banswara Palace, 8th January 1914. Invested with full ruling powers, 18th March 1914. He introduced several innovative political reforms, including the creation of a legislative assembly with an overwhelming majority of elected members. He reformed the administration, set up a State and Judicial Council, village panchayats, a printing press, electricity and telephone services, an orphanage, Ayuvedic medical services, and promoted education, particularly female education. He founded King George V Sch, and constructed the King Edward Dharamshala, Wylie Bridge, and Colvin Municipal Hall. Presdt Prithvi Club (Banswara) 1937-1944. (first) at Sirohi, 10th December 1905, Sihoriwala Maharaj Raj Kumarani Shrimati Anand Kunverba Sahiba (b. at Sirohi, 1890; d. in childbirth, at Banswara, 24th December 1909), third daughter of H.H. Raj Rajeshwar Maharajadhiraj Maharao Shri Sir Keshri Singhji Bahadur, Maharao of Sirohi, GCIE, KCSI. m. (second) H.H. Danta Maharani Sahiba (d. in childbirth, at Banswara, 25th March 1916), a daughter of H.H. Rajadhiraja Maharana 108 Shri Hamir Singhji Sahib Bahadur, Maharana of Danta. m. (third) at Malia, February 1917, H.H. Malia Maharani Shrimati Dev Kunverba Sahiba, daughter of Thakore Shri Rai Singhji Modji Sahib, Thakore Sahib of Malia, by his second wife, Thakurani Bai Shri Ba Kunverba Sahiba, daughter of Rana Shri Vaje Singhji, of Malvan, under Dhrangadhra. m. (fourth) at Himatnagar, 19th May 1920, H.H. Shri Jodhpurwala Maharani Shrimati Daulat Kunverba Sahiba (b. at Kishore Bagh, Jodhpur, 1890; d. 1994), daughter of Colonel Maharaj Shri Bhupal Singhji Sahib Bahadur, of Jodhpur. He d. at the Shrigarh Palace, Banswara, 27th July 1944, having had issue, three sons and eight daughters:

Rai Rayan Mahimahendra Maharajadhiraj Maharawalji Sahib Shri Chandraveer Singhji Sahib Bahadur, Naresh Rajya, Maharawal of Banswara. b. at Banswara, 24th December 1909, eldest son of H.H. Rai Rayan Maharawal Shri Sir Prithvi Singhji Sahib Bahadur, Naresh Rajya, Maharawal of Banswara, KCIE, by his first wife, Sihoriwala Maharaj Raj Kumarani Shrimati Anand Kunverba Sahiba, educ. Mayo Coll, Ajmer. Installed as Heir Apparent with the title of Shriman Maharaj Raj Kumar Sahib, 8th January 1914. Senior Mbr State Council and State Judicial Council 1930-1944. Succeeded on the death of his father, 27th July 1944. Ascended the gadi at the Durrih Khana, Banswara Palace, 7th August 1944. Installed at his Rajyabhishek, at the Durrih Khana, Banswara Palace, 20th November 1945. Signed the instrument of accession to the Dominion of India, 1947. Entered into a covenant with his fellow rulers to form the United State of Rajasthan on 25th March 1948, by which his state merged with that union effective from 18th April 1948 (when he ceased to enjoy any sovereign powers). Consented to a further covenant creating the Greater Rajasthan union on 10th March 1949, by which his state merged with that union effective 30th March 1949. He ceased enjoying sovereign powers on the acceptance of the Constitution of the Union of India by Rajasthan, 26th November 1950. The GOI amended the Indian Constitution to remove his position as a “ruler” and his right to receive privy-purse payments, 28th December 1971. (second) at Ajit Nivas Palace, Dhrangadhra, 11th February 1932, H.H. Jhalijisa Maharani Shrimati Sajjan Kanwarji Sahiba (b. at Dhrangadhra, 22nd May 1911; d. at Ranjit Vilas, Banswara Palace, 7th January 1982), Rcvd: the Halvad-Dhrangadhra State Rajyabhisek Medal 1st class and the Halvad-Dhrangadhra Accession to India Medal (25.3.1948), rcvd: the Halvad-Dhrangadhra State Rajyabhisek Medal 1st class and the Halvad-Dhrangadhra Accession to India Medal (25.3.1948), eldest daughter of H.H. Jadejisa Maharani Shrimati Pravin Kanwarji Sahiba, daughter of Kumar Shri Balvirsinhji Raisinhji, of Malia. m. (1) Shrimati Lalita Bai, Paswanji Sahiba, a Rajput lady from Kadana. m.
