1627 Khwaja Khizr Khan, Governor of Safa and Chief of the Alus Abdali. b. 29th September 1582, eldest son of Amir-i-Afghan Malik Saddu, Governor of Safa and Chief of the Alus Abdali. Succeeded his father as Governor of Safa and Chief of the Alus Abdali, 18th March 1627. He d. (or was k. by his younger brother) 13th September 1627, having had issue, two sons (ancestor of the Khizr-khel):
1) Sultan Khuda Dad Khan [Khudkai Sultan], Sultan of Safa and Chief of the Alus Abdali - see below.
2) Shahzada Sher Muhammad Khan. b. 1614, educ. privately. Appointed as guardian to his nephew after the death of his elder brother, 1665. Disputed the succession of his nephews and entered ino an alliance with he Mughal emperor, who recognised him in the title of Shahzada. He was k. from a fall from his horse, ca. 1666, having had issue, an only son:
a) Sardar Sarmast Sultan Khan. Recognised as successor to his father and placed under the guardinaship of Bakhtiar, son of Saleh Khan. He was k. in battle, ca. 1666, having had issue, a son:
i) Sardar Daulat Khan. m. daughter of Aidal Khan, of the Zafran-khel branch of the Sadozzai. He was k. by Gurgin Khan, before 24th March 1708, having had issue, a son and a daughter:
(a) Sardar Zulfikhar Khan. He disputed the succession of Muhammad Khan in 1723-1724. Forced into exile by the elders of the tribe at Pamarz Wa Chaman, a valley east of Herat. Returned and organised a rebellion against Allah Yar Khanin 1727. Defeated and fled to Farah, his stronghold. Conquered Herat from Allah Yar Khan, 21st April 1730. Forced to surrender the fort to him by Nadir Shah, 22nd August 1731. Imprisoned at Kandahar Fort 1731-1738. Freed by Nadir Shah and granted lands at Mazandaran.
(b) Sardar ‘Ali Mardan Khan. Imprisoned at Kandahar Fort 1731-1738. He had issue, a son:
(i) Sardar Luqman Khan.
(c) Sardar Ahmad Khan, who became H.M. Padshah Dur-i-Durran Ahmad Shah, Padshah of Afghanistan (s/o Zarghuna Begum) - see below.
(1) A daughter. m. Sultan ‘Abdu’llah Khan, Shah of Herat and Safa (b. at Safa, 1670; k. by Qasim Khan Zafran-khel, at Rauda Bagh, Herat, 13th November 1721), eldest son of Sultan Hayat Khan Khudakka, Sultan of Safa and Chief of the Alus Abdali - see below.
1627 - 1644 Sultan Maudad Khan, Governor of Safa and Chief of the Alus Abdali. b. 20th October 1584, second son of Amir-i-Afghan Sado Khan, Governor of Safa and Chief of the Alus Abdali. Succeeded as Chief of the Alus Abdali after the resignation of his elder brother. Governor of Safa 1627-1643. He was k. in battle against Mir Yahya Diwan, at Kabul, before 10th March 1644, having had issue, two sons (ancestor of the Khan-khel):
1) Shah Husain Khan, Wafadar Khan Bahadur, Governor of Safa and Chief of the Alus Abdali - see below.
2) Allah Dad Khan. Fled to India with his brother in 1649. He d. at Multan, a few months before his brother in 1659, having had issue, three sons:
a) Inayat Khan, Wafadar Khan Bahadur. Granted an Imperial mensab of 500 together with a jagir in Rangpur dist., and raised to the title of Wafadar Khan. Recognised as Chief of the Saddozai by the Mughal emperor in succession to his uncle, 1659. He had issue:
i) Sher Muhammad Khan. Recognised as Chief of the Saddozai in succession to his father, but being an imbecile, his paternal uncle acted on his behalf.
ii) Asghar Khan.
b) 'Abid Khan. Acted as Chief of the Saddozai for his nephew. m. (first) a daughter of Jalal Khan, of the Zafran-khel branch of the Saddozai. m. (second) …He d. at Multan, having had issue, three sons and one daughter:
i) Nawab Zahid Khan Bahadur (s/o Jalal Khan's daughter), educ. privately. Chief of the Saddozai in succession to his father and cousin. Naib Nazim (Dep. Governor) of Multan 1738-1744 and 1747-1748. Raised to the personal title of Nawab by the Emperor Muhammad Shah 1747. Appointed to an Imperial mensab of 500 zat and 50 sawar. m. a daughter of Harun Khan, of the Kamran-khel branch of the Saddozai. He was k. in battle, at Multan, 1749, having had issue, two sons:
(1) Nawab Shakir Khan Bahadur. Naib Nazim (Deputy Governor) of Multan 1749-1752. Succeeded his father as Chief of the Saddozai, 1749. He d. before 1763, having had issue, two sons:
(2) Nawab Shuja Khan Bahadur, Safdar Jang (s/o Harun Khan's daughter), educ. privately. Appointed as Chief of the Saddozai by Ahmad Shah Durrani, 1763. Subadar (Governor) of Multan 1763-1764 and 1767-1770. Founder of the fortress of Shujabad. Granted the titles of Nawab, Bahadur, and Safdar Jang in 1767. He d. at Shujabad, 14th September 1775 (bur. there), having had issue, four sons and one daughter:
(a) Rukn ud-Daula, Nawab Haji Muhammad Muzaffar Khan Bahadur, Safdar Jang. b. at Multan, 1757. Subadar (Governor) of Multan 1780-1807 and 1808-1818. Granted the titles of Nawab, Bahadur, Safdar Jang and Ruknud-Daula in 1780. Founded the town and fort of Muzaffargarh in 1794. His governorship was spent in almost continuous warfare. Went on a pilgrimage to Mecca 1807-1808. Requested British protection in 1808-1809, but refused. m. (first) a daughter of Sardar Sarwar Khan, of the Khan-khel branch of the Saddozai. m. (second) a former dancing girl from Multan. m. (third) a non-Pathan. He was k. during the Sikh siege of Multan Fort, 29th May 1818 (bur. there at the Shrine of Hazrat Baha ud-din Zakariya), having had issue, eight sons and three
(i) Nawab Sarfaraz Khan Bahadur, of Chamusa (s/o Sarwar Khan's daughter). Subadar (Governor) of Multan 1807-1808. Carried as a prisoner to Lahore in 1818, then granted Chamusa in jagir (with Sharakpur and Naolakha later exchanged for a cash pension). He d. at Chamusa, Lahore, 12th March 1851, having had issue, eight sons and seven daughters:

4a. Nawabzadi Nabila Gul Begum. b. 1960. m. Dr Shahzada Sultan Zohaib, son of Shahzada Sultan Sultan Azeem, sometime SSP Prisons Dept, by his second wife, Nasim Begum. She has issue, one son - see below.
ii. Nawabzada Sultan Babar Khan. b. 1917. m. Wazir Begum. He d.s.p. July 1986.
iii. Nawabzada 'Abdu'l Wahid Khan. b. 1923. m. Dilara Begum (d. 1998), daughter of Muhammad Ghani Khan Khattak. He had issue, three sons and two daughters:

(v) Haq Nawaz Khan (s/o the third wife). He was k. during the Sikh siege of Multan Fort, 29th May 1818, having had issue, one son:
