1788 - 1791 H.M. Tu-nui-ea’a-i-te-Atua-i-Tarahoi Vaira’atoa Taina [Outu] Pomare I, King of Tahiti, Moorea and its dependencies. b. at Pare, ca. 1753, second son of Teu Tunuieaite Atua, by his wife, Tetupaia-i-Hauiri, daughter of Tamatoa III, Ari‘irahi of Ra’iatea. Succeeded to the title of Tu-nui-e-a’e-i-te Atua and Ari‘i of Pare and Arue at birth and reigned under the regency of his father, until he came of age and assumed power. Recognised as enjoying the rank of Ari‘irahi and the right to wear the sacred girdle or Maro-ura, by Purea and her husband Amo, after their defeat by Tutaha Ha’amanemane, December 1768. Formally installed as Ari‘irahi at Matavai, August 1773. Succeeded in uniting the different chiefdoms of Tahiti into a single kingdom, composed of the islands of Tahiti, Moorea, Meetia, and the Tetiaroa group. Became “King Regent” for his eldest son, 13th February 1791. Succeeded on the death of his father as Ari‘irahi of Porionu’u, 23rd November 1802. m. (first) 1773, Tu-ra’i-Ari‘i Te-ra’i-mano (b. ca 1754). m. (second) between 1773 and 1777, H.M. Queen Tetua-nui-rei-a-ite Ra’iatea-i-Nu’urua [Itia], Ari‘irahi of Varari, Moorea (b. ca 1758; m. second, before 1810, Ari’i-paea Te-na-nia, second son of Mato Teri’i Tepoara’i, High Priest of Ra’iatea and Huahine, and d. at Mo’orea, 16th January 1814), granddaughter of Fetefeteui-i-Ahurai of the Puna'auia line, and eldest surviving daughter of Teihotu-i-Ahura’i, by his wife Vave’a Tetua-nui-rei-a-ite Ra’iatea, of Teoropaa, daughter of Punua Teraitua, of Nu’urua, Moorea. m. (third) 1791, Pateamai Vairareti Teano (b. ca 1772), widow of Tetua-unu-maona Vehiatua III, Ari‘irahi of Taiarapu (who d. aged 15 years in 1790), and youngest daughter of Teihotu-i-Ahurai, by his wife Vavea Tetua-nui-rei-a-ite Ra’iatea, daughter of Punua Teraitua [Nu'urua], of Mo’orea. m. (a) Pepiri, a junior wife, daughter of Piha, of Vaiuriri. He d. from thrombosis, at Matavai, 3rd September1803 (bur. Pomare Royal Cemetery, Papa’oa, Arue), having had issue, three sons and three daughters:

1803 - 1821 H.M. Tu-nui-ea’a-i-te-Atua Pomare II, By the grace of God, King of Tahiti, Moorea and its dependencies. b. 1782, elder son of H.M. Tu-nui-ea’a-i-te-Atua-i-Tarahoi Vaira’atoa Taina [Outu] Pomare I, King of Tahiti, Moorea and its dependencies, by his wife, H.M. Queen Tetua-nui-rei-a-ite Ra’iatea-i-Nu’urua [Itia], Ari‘irahi of Varari, educ. privately. Proclaimed as Ari‘irahi of and formally installed as King of Tahiti, Moorea and its dependencies by his father at Tarahoi, 13th February 1791. Recognised as supreme sovereign and Ari‘imaro-’ura by the ruler of Huahine. Reigned under the regency of his father until the latter’s death, 3rd September 1803. Forced to take refuge in Moorea 22nd December 1808. Returned and defeated his enemies at the battle of Te Feipi, 15th November 1815. Thereafter recognised as undisputed King of Tahiti, Moorea and its dependencies (Te Ari‘inui-o-Tahiti). Baptised at the Royal Chapel, Papeete, 16th May 1819. m. (first) before March 1797 (betrothed January 1792), H.M. Queen Tetua-nui Taro-vahine, Ari‘i of Varari (b. 1782; d.s.p.l. at Arue, 21st July 1806, bur. Pomare Royal Cemetery, Papa’oa, Arue), elder daughter of Teri’i Tapunui Metua’aro Mahau Ta’aro-ari‘i, Ari‘irahi of Mo’orea and Ari‘i of Varari, by his wife, Tereretua Vau’o-vahine, Ari‘i of Ha’apaino’o, youngest daughter of Tei-Hamoerea-i-Matahihae Teu Te-nui-e-a’e-i-te Atua, Ari‘irahi of Pare. m. (second) at Mo’orea, 8th November 1811, H.M. Queen Teri’to’-o-terai Tere-moe-moe Pomare-vahine (b. 1793; d. after 1827), Regent for her son 7th December 1821 to 11th January 1827, second daughter of Tamatoa IV, Ari‘irahi of Ra’iatea, by his wife, Tu-ra’i-ari‘i E-he-vahine, eldest daughter of Mato Teri’i Tepoara’i, High Priest of Ra’iatea and Huahine. m. (third) 1812, Teri’i Tari’a II Ari‘i-paea Pomare-vahine, Ari‘irahi of Huahine and Pare-Arue (b. on Huahine, 1790; d.s.p. at the Royal Palace, Papeete, Tahiti, 1858, bur. with her younger sister and niece), Regent for her step-son King Pomare III 7th December 1821 to 8th January 1827, eldest daughter of Tamatoa IV, Ari‘irahi of Ra’iatea, by his wife, Tura’iari‘i Ehe-vahine, eldest daughter of Mato Teri’i Tepoara’i, High Priest of Ra’iatea and Huahine. He d. at Motu Uta, Moorea, 7th December 1821 (bur. Pomare Royal Cemetery, Papa’oa, Arue), having had issue, two sons and one daughter:

1821 - 1827 H.M. Pomare III, By the grace of God, King of Tahiti. b. at the Military Hospital, Papofai, 25th June 1820, as Teri’itaria Pomare, second son of H.M. Tu Tunuiea’aite-a-tua Pomare II, King of Tahiti, by his second wife, H.M. Queen Teri’to’-o-terai Tere Moemoe Pomare-vahine, educ. South Sea Acad., Papetoai, Moorea. Baptised 10th September 1820. Succeeded on the death of his father, 7th December 1821. Crowned at Papa’oa, Arue, 21st April 1824. Reigned under a Council of Regency until his death from dysentery at Pare, Papeete, 8th January 1827 (bur. Pomare Royal Cemetery, Papa’oa, Arue) (succ. by his sister).
