Y.M. Tuan Syed Ahmad bin Syed Husain Jamal ul-Lail, son of Syed Husain bin Syed ‘Abdu’llah Jamal ul-Lail, from the Hadramaut, in South Arabia. m. at Alor Star, Kedah, ca. 1735, Sharifa Amina [Aisha] binti Syed Muhammad, only daughter of Syed Muhammad Taha al-Qadri, by his wife, a princess of Kedah. He d. in Kedah, 1751, had issue:

1834 - 1873 Y.M. Tuan Syed Husain ibni al-Marhum Syed Harun Jamal ul-Lail, Raja of Perlis Indra Kayangan. b. at Arau, 10th April 1805, eldest son of Y.M. Tuan Syed Abu Bakar Harun bin Syed Ahmad Jamal ul-Lail, Penghulu Mukim of Arau, by his third wife, Wan Fatima binti Dato' Kayang, educ. privately. Performed important services for the Siamese government by bringing the rebel Raja of Ligor to heal. Granted the personal title of Phya Indra Kayangang by the King of Siam. The district of Perlis was separated from Kedah and he became ruler of the new state, with the personal title of Phya Sungrama Rama Visitra Asmara Phraya Perlis (or Phya Songkeram Rammu Visit Asmara Phya Perlis), 20th May 1834. Rcvd: Cdr. of the Order of the White Elephant of Siam 1872. m. (first) Inche' Sofia binti Datuk Awang Muhammad Arshad, daughter of Datuk Awang Muhammad Arshad bin Muhammad Yunus, Datuk Belat Sri Paduka Perdana Menteri. m. (second) Inche' Teka. m. (third) Y.M. Sharifa Hawa. m. (fourth) Inche' Fatima. m. (fifth) at Ligor, 1829, Y.M. Tengku Nur Aisha binti Tengku Long Puteh [Tunku Ku Tam], daughter of Y.A.M. Sultan Sayyid al-Sharif Alwi ibni al-Marhum Sayyid Osman 'Abdu'l Jalil Saif ud-din [Tengku Long Puteh], of Siak Sri Indrapura, by his wife, Y.A.M. Tengku Zamzam binti al-Marhum 'Abdu'llah al-Mukarram Shah, eldest daughter of H.H. Paduka Sri Sultan 'Abdu'llah al-Mukarram Shah ibni al- Sultan Muhammad Jiwa Zain al-Azlan Mu'azzam Shah, Sultan and Yan di-Pertuan of the State of Kedah Dar ul-Aman. m. (sixth) Inche' Sara. m. Tuan Syed Husain ibni al-Marhum Syed Harun Jamal ul-Lail, Raja of Perlis Indra Kayangan, by his first wife, Inche' Sofia binti Datuk Awang Muhammad Arshad, educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his father, 21st November 1873. Granted the personal title of Phra' Sundara Raja by the King of Siam. Promoted to Phya Visitra Sungrama Rama Visitra Asmara Phraya Perlis, 1st March 1874. Rcvd: Companion of the Order of the White Elephant of Siam. m. (first) Inche' Manis (d.s.p.). m. (second) Y.M. Sharifa Jahara (d.s.p.). m. (third) Y.M. Sharifa Seha binti Syed Muhammad, daughter of Syed Muhammad al-Haddad, by his wife, Y.M. Sharifa Jahara binti Syed Ahmad al-Qadri. m. (fourth) Inche' Puteh (d.s.p.). m. (fifth) Inche' Aisha (d.s.p.). He d. at the Istana di-Raja, Arau, 17th February 1897 (bur. there at the Royal Cemetery), having had issue, an only son by his third wife:
