  • 1) Meherban Shrimant Sardar Maloji Raje Sahib Bhonsle, of Poona. b. 1552. Sometime Patil of Deulgaon. Entered the service of Sultan Murtaza Nizam Shah of Ahmadnagar and received the substantial jagir of Poona from Nizam Shah Malik. Raised to a mansab of 5,000 horse and granted the hereditary title of Raje. m. several wives including (first), a daughter of Shrimant Lokhojirao Jadhav. m. (second) Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Dipabai Sahib Bhonsle [Umabai], sister of Meherban Shrimant Sardar Vangoji II [Jagpalrao] Naik Nimbalkar, Chief of Phaltan. He d. 1620, having had issue, two sons:
    • a) Meherban Shrimant Farzand Shahaji Raje Sahib Bhonsle Maharaj, of Poona and Satara. b. 15th March 1594 (s/o Dipabai), educ. privately. Succeeded his father in his jagir. Received additional lands comprising most of Satara. Entered the Mughal Emperor's service and was appointed to a mansab of 5,000, November 1630. Later deserted them and returned to the Nizam Shahi's March 1632. Regent for Murtaza Nizam Shah II, September 1632-1636. Granted the title of Maharaj by Sultan Ali 'Adil Shah II, King of Bijapur, before 1643. m. (first) at Sindkhed, 5th November 1605, Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Jijibai Raje Sahib Bhonsle Maharaj (b. 1596; d. 17th June 1674), daughter of Shrimant Lakhujirao Jadhav of Deolgaon, by his wife Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Mhalsabai Sahib. m. (second) 1630, Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Tukabai Raje [Annu Sahib] Bhonsle Maharaj, daughter of Shrimant Ry. Bajirao Mohite Pognwadikar, of Bijapur. He d. near Basavapattan, from a fall from his horse, while hunting, 23rd January 1664, having had issue, three sons:
      • i) Meherban Shrimant Shambhajirao Bhonsle. b. at Bijapur, 1623 (s/o Jijibai). m. Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Muckaubai Sahib (d.s.p.m.). He d.v.p. at Kanakgiri, 1653, having had issue, one son and an adopted son and successor:
        • (1) Shrimant Suratsinh Raje Sahib Bhonsle. He d.v.p.
        • (2) Shrimant Umajirao Bhonsle, son of Pursojirao Bhonsle of Bhambarrey. Adopted by Shambhajirao, before his death. He left descendants.
      • ii) H.H. Kshatriya Kulawatasana, Sinhasanadhishwar, Shrimant Rajashri Shivaji I Raje Bhonsle Chhatrapati Maharaj (Shivaji the Great) (s/o Jijibai) - see below.

              • 1. Shrimant Raja Balwantrao Chhatrasinhrao [Bala Sahib] Bhonsle, Senapati of Satara. Installed as Senapati at the Dussera of 1826. He d. 27th January 1849, leaving one adopted son.
    • f) Shrimant Parsojirao Vithojirao Bhonsle. Entered Mughal service 1629. He had issue, one son:
      • i) Shrimant Umajirao Bhonsle. He was adopted into the Jintee family and left descendants ->
