Shrimant Sardar Sambhajirao Kerojirao Puar, son of Shrimant Sardar Kerojirao Krishnajirao Puar, of Nager-Deole (see Dewas Senior). He had issue three sons:

i) Shrimant Sardar Umdatrao Dakurjirao Puar, of Chitgaon. Settled at Poona. He had issue.
1728 - 1731 Meherban Shrimant Sardar Uddajirao I Sambhajirao Puar Sahibji, of Multhan. b. 1708, eldest son of Shrimant Sardar Sambhajirao Kerojirao Puar, of Nager-Deole (see Dewas Senior), educ. privately. A distinguished Maratha general, he entered Malwa and took possession of Mandu in 1709, but was compelled to retreat within a short period. Received a grant from the Peshwa for half of his own mokasa in Gujarat and Malwa, 3rd December 1722. Confirmed in his mokassa rights over the districts of Dhar and Jhabua, 11th August 1725. Entered Gujarat in 1726 and briefly held Baroda, but he made no impression upon that province and was forced to withdraw into Malwa. He joined Trimbak Rao Dabhade and Pilaji Rao Gaekwad in opposing Baji Rao I and was severely defeated with them at the Battle of Dabhoi, 1st April 1731. Taken prisoner by the Peshwa, his sardarship and mokassa rights were transferred to his younger brother. Subsequently escaped from confinement and fled to his remaining properties at Multhan. He d. at Multhan, ca 1732 (succ. by his younger brother), having had issue, four sons:

1731 - 1736 Meherban Shrimant Raja Shri Anandrao I Sambhajirao Puar Sahibji, Raja of Dhar, second son of Shrimant Sardar Sambhajirao Kerojirao Puar, educ. privately. Purchased the office of Patil of Kumtar, in the Junneer pargana, 1710. Succeeded to the family estates following the resignation of his elder brother in 1731, and subsequently secured a saranjam from the Peshwa in 1732 for the districts of Nalchha, Badnawar, Dharampuri, Rakaner, Saver, Tal Khairabad, etc, all yielding annual revenues of between Rs 15 and 20 lakhs. He also received the rights to a portion of the tributes from the states of Banswara and Dungarpur in Rajputana. Received a further grant of the city and district of Dhar in 1734, where he settled permanently and began laying the foundations of the state. Abdicated in favour of his eldest son, June 1736. m. Granted the Larawat (Ladawad) taluqa in Sundarsi district by the Rajas of Dhar and Dewas, following mediation by the British authorities, 19th December 1818. The Larawat estate becoming a guaranteed or mediatised estate of the HEIC. He d. 1834, having had issue, an only son:

1736 - 1761 Meherban Shrimant Raja Shri Yeshwantrao I Anandrao Puar Sahibji, Raja of Dhar. b. 1724, elder son of Meherban Shrimant Raja Shri Anandrao I Sambhajirao Puar Sahibji, Raja of Dhar, by his first wife, Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Rani Laddu Bai Puar, educ. privately. Appointed to the rank of a Sardar and succeeded on the resignation of his father, June 1736. Received a confirmation grant from the Pehswar for Dhar and its dependencies, on the partition of Malwa, February 1739. His excesses in extracting revenues from Banswara and other places brought him into disfavour, and he was obliged to surrender his rights over Dhar and Mandu in early 1748. Retired to Badnawar and granted a jagir of three and a half mahals, 14th June 1748. m. (first) Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Rani Sakwar Bai Puar. m. Meherban Shrimant Raja Shri Yeshwantrao I Anandrao Puar Sahibji, had further issue, two sons (excluded from the succession because their mother was not a Maratha):

a) Shrimant Murarrao Mahipatrao Puar. b. at Dhar 1782, educ. privately. Seized the government shortly after the death of Anandrao II on 25th June 1807. Fled from Dhar after being thwarted in his attempt to seize the control and kill the infant raja. However, he continued to wage a long running insurrection which despoiled the state for several years. He d. at Jhabua, September 1816, having had issue, one son:
1761 - 1782 Meherban Shrimant Raja Shri Khanderao I Yeshwantrao Puar Sahibji, Raja of Dhar. b. ca. 1758, only son of Meherban Shrimant Raja Shri Yeshwantrao I Anandrao Puar Sahibji, Raja of Dhar, by his wife, Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Rani Gahena Bai Bai Puar, educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his father, 7th January 1761 and reigned under the nominal Regency of his mother and her minister, Dewan Mahdu Rao Warekar, until he came of age. m. 1782 - 1807 Meherban Shrimant Raja Shri Anandrao II Khanderao Puar Sahibji, Raja of Dhar. b. at Baroda, 1782, six months after the death of his father, posthumous son of Meherban Shrimant Raja Shri Khanderao I Yeshwantrao Puar Sahibji, Raja of Dhar, by his wife, Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Rani Nubadha Bai Bai Puar [Bala Bai], sometime Rani Regent, educ. privately at Baroda. Succeeded at birth. He reigned under the nominal regency of his mother under the control of Dewan Rangrao Warekar, while residing in Baroda throughout his minority. He came of age and returned from Baroda in 1798 but was prevented from assuming the government by the Dewan, until he sought the assistance of the Rajput Kakur of Wakhatgar and was able to expel the minister. However, the turbulent minister fled to Hokkar and induced him to attack Dhar and annex large tracts of territory, then flew again to Scindia who repeated the exercise in 1805. As a consequence, the once powerful Puars were reduced to a fraction of their former holdings. m. (first) at Baroda, 1798, Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Rani Maina Bai Sahib Puar (b. at Paphlana, 1792; d. at Dhar, 1850), Rani Regent for her only son 1807-1810, a brave and resolute lady who prosecuted a war against Murarrao for several years and saved Dhar from extinction by its neighbours, third daughter of Shrimant Sardar Satwajirao Sathe, jagirdar of Paphlana, by his wife, Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Sai Bai Sahib Sathe, sister of Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Gahinabai Raje Sahib Gaekwad of Baroda, and daughter of Balaji Garud, headman of a village in the Poona district. m. 1807 - 1810 Meherban Shrimant Raja Shri Ramchandrarao I Anandrao Puar Sahibji, Raja of Dhar. b. at Mandu Fort, December 1807, posthumous son of Meherban Shrimant Raja Shri Anandrao II Khanderao Puar Sahibji, Raja of Dhar, by his wife, Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Rani Maina Bai Sahib Puar. Succeeded at birth, but imprisoned with his mother by Murarrao Puar, soon afterwards. Escaped with the help of loyal servants, 11th August 1808. Reigned under the regency of his mother. He d. young at Dhar, 1810.
1810 - 1833 H.H. Meherban Shrimant Raja Shri Ramchandrarao II Anandrao Puar Sahibji, Raja of Dhar. b. at Karadia, 1805, as Shrimant Lakshmanrao [Nana Sahib] Shinde, eldest son of Shrimant Sardar Mahipatrao Shinde, Ravi Rao, jagirdar of Karadia, by his wife, Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Thaku Bai Sahib Shinde, eldest sister of Rani Maina Bai Sahib Puar, and daughter of Shrimant Sardar Satwajirao Sathe, jagirdar of Paphlana, educ. privately. Adopted by Rani Maina Bai Sahib Puar, and ascended the gadi on the same day as Ramchandrarao II Anandrao, 1810. He concluded a treaty of friendship and protection with the HEIC on 10th January 1819, after which they induced Scindia to return the district of Badnawar, and themselves restored Bersiah after they defeated the Pindaris . m. at Lashkar, Gwalior, 1822, H.H. Meherban Shrimant Raja Shri Yeshwantrao II Ramchandrarao Puar Sahibji, Raja of Dhar. b. 1823, as Shrimant Malharrao Yeshwantrao Puar, eldest son of Shrimant Yeshwantrao Dakurjirao Puar [Bhau Sahib], of Multhan, by his first wife Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Jamna Bai Sahib, educ. privately. Adopted by Rani Annapurna Bai Sahib Puar after the death of her husband and ascended the gadi on the same day as Yeshwantrao II Ramchandrarao, 21st April 1834. He took a keen interest in education, established the first English school in 1849, a Persian school in 1850, followed by others teaching in Marathi, Hindi and Sanskrit. m. (first) Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Rani Bhagirathi Bai Raje Sahib Puar (d. before 1857), daughter of Shrimant Daulatrao Garud. m. (second) H.H. Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Rani Shri Draupadi Bai Sahib Puar [Burra Rani] (b. 1828; d. at the Palace, Dhar, 1860, aged 32), Regent 23rd May to 19th January 1858, née Jijibai, sister of Shrimant Sardar Bhimrao Bhonsle, sometime Bakshi of the Dhar State Forces. m. (third) 1836, H.H. Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Rani Nani Bai Sahib Puar (b. at Tankwa, 1837; d. of heartbreak, at the Palace, Dhar, November 1857, five months after her husband, aged 20), daughter of the Mungikar Patel of Tankwa, in the Poona district of the Bombay Presidency. m. (fourth) H.H. Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Rani Gajra Bai Sahib Puar, from the Surve family. He d. from cholera, at the Palace, Dhar, 23rd May 1857 (succ. by his younger brother).
