1875 - 1942 Colonel H.H. Maharajadhiraj Mirza Maharao Shri Shri Shri Shri Shri Shri Shri Khengarji III Sawai Bahadur, Maharao of Cutch, GCSI (3.6.1917), GCIE (30.6.1887). b. at Prag Mahal, Bhuj 23rd August 1866, eldest son of H.H. Maharajadhiraj Mirza Maharao Shri Shri Shri Shri Shri Shri Shri Pragmulji II Sahib Bahadur, Rao of Cutch, GCSI, by his second wife, H.H. Jhali Rani Bai Shri Naniba Kunwarba Sahib, educ. Rajkumar Coll, Rajkot. Succeeded on the death of his father, 19th December 1875 and ascended the gadi 3rd January 1876. Reigned under a Council of Regency until he came of age, 11th August 1884 and was invested with full ruling powers, at Darbargadh, Bhuj 14th November 1884. Raised to the hereditary titles of Sawai Bahadur on 2nd March 1885 and Maharao on 1st January 1918. Granted a local salute of 19-guns, 1st January 1921. Attended the Delhi Durbars of 1877, 1903 and 1911. Represented India at the League of Nations in Geneva 1921, and the Imperial Conference in London 1921. Hon Col Cutch State Infantry 1929-1942. Vice-Presdt British Empire League (1921). Freeman of the Cities of London and Bath, 1921. Rcvd: KIH gold medal (1877), Golden Jubilee medal (1887 with Golden Jubilee clasp 1897), Delhi Durbar gold medals (1903 & 1911), Coron medals (1911 & 1937), Silver Jubilee medal (1935), and the Halvad-Dhrangadhra State Rajyabhisek Medal 1st class (posthumous 25.3.1948). m. (first) at Bhuj, 19th February 1884, H.H. Saylawala Maharani Bai Shri Motiba Sahiba (d. at Bhuj, 15th January 1914), née Ba Shri Chandraba Sahiba, younger daughter of Meherban Dostan Thakore Shri Vakhatsinhji Keshrisinhji Sahib, Thakore Sahib of Sayla, CSI. m. (second) in a joint ceremony with his first wife, at Bhuj, 19th February 1884, H.H. Charadwala Maharani Bai Shri Gangaba Sahiba (d. at Bhuj, 5th April 1945), daughter of Raj Rana Shri Jalamsinhji [Ladhubha] Amarsinhji Sahib, of Charadwa, in Dhrangadhra state. He d. at Bhuj, 15th January 1942, having had issue, three sons and four daughters:

Maharajadhiraj Mirza Maharao Shri Vijayarajji Sawai Bahadur, Maharao of Cutch, GBE (c.17.4.1945). b. at Prag Mahal, Bhuj, 2nd September 1885, as Vijayarajsinhji, eldest son of Colonel H.H. Maharajadhiraj Mirza Maharao Shri Sir Khengarji III Sawai Bahadur, Maharao of Cutch, GCSI, GCIE, by his second wife, H.H. Charadwala Maharani Bai Shri Gangabai Sahib, educ. privately and at Mayo Coll, Ajmer. Succeeded on the death of his father, 15th January 1942 and ascended the gadi 18th January 1942. Mbr National Defence Council of India 1942-1945. Signed the instrument of accession to the Dominion of India, 1947. Merged his state into the Kathiawar Union, 1st June 1948. Hon Lieut-Col IA 15/10/1946. Hon Col Cutch State Infantry 1942-1948. Assisted his father in the administration of the state, before his accession and continued his policies of reform and devlopment after his death. Instituted an independent High Court, elected village councils, and greatly expanded irrigation works and schemes for agricultural development. A keen sportsman who enjoyed playing cricket, football, tennis, sculling and shikar. Also an amateur botanist and ornithologist. Rcvd: Delhi Durbar (1911), Silver Jubilee (1935), Coron. (1937) and Indian Independence (1947) medals. m. at Sirohi, 6th March 1907, H.H. Sirohiwala Maharani Bai Shri Padma Kunwarba Sahib (b. at Sirohi, 4th February 1896; d. 26th November 1980), rcvd: Silver Jubilee (1935) and Coron. (1937) medals, daughter of H.H. Maharajadhiraja Maharao Shri Keshri Singhji Bahadur, Maharao of Sirohi, GCIE, KCSI, by his third wife, H.H. Sisodiji Maharani Nand Kunverba Sahiba, fourth daughter of H.H. Namdar Shrimant Maha Mandaleshwar Maharajadhiraj Maharana Shri Narandevji II Dharma Dev Rana Raja, Raja of Dharampur. He d. 26th February 1948, having had issue, seventeen children, including five sons and three daughters:

1948 - [1991] Colonel H.H. Maharajadhiraj Mirza Maharao Shri Meghrajji Sawai Bahadur, Maharao of Cutch. b. at Prag Mahal, Bhuj, 12th October 1909, as Madansinhji, eldest son of Colonel H.H. Maharajadhiraj Mirza Maharao Shri Vijayarajji Sawai Bahadur, Maharao of Cutch, GBE, by his wife, H.H. Sirohiwala Chauvan Maharani Bai Shri Padma Kunwarba Sahib, educ. Rajkumar Coll., Rajkot. Attended the Coronation of King-Emperor George VI and Queen-Empress Elizabeth at Westminster Abbey in London, 1937. Became Heir Apprent with the title of Yuvraj Sahib on the succession of his father, 15th January 1942. Presdt Cutch State Cncl. 1943-1948. Succeeded on the death of his father 26th February 1948 but transferred the administration of the state to the Dominion of India, 1st June 1948. Joined Indian Foreign Service 1953, Hon Minister-Counsellor at London 1953-1956, Ambassador to Norway 1957-1960, and Chile 1960-1961. The GOI amended the Indian Constitution to remove his position as a "ruler" and his right to receive privy-purse payments, 28th December 1971. Hon Col Cutch State Infantry 1948-1949. Chair Maharao of Kutch Aina Mahal Trust 1977-1991, and the Maharao Shri Madansinhji Saheb Charitable Trust, Patron Madansinhji Museum, etc. Rcvd: Coron medal (1937). m. at Kishangarh, 12th February 1933, H.H. Maharani Bai Shri Rajendra Kunverba Sahib (b. at Kishangarh, 1920; d. at Bombay, 2000), a well-known philatalist and amateur photographer, youngest daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel H.H. Umdai Rajahai Buland Makan Maharajadhiraj Maharaja Sir Madan Singhji Bahadur, Maharaja of Kishangarh, KCSI, KCIE, by his second wife, H.H. Maharani Yeshwant Kunverba Sahib, youngest daughter of Thakore Shri Raisinhji Jijibhai Sahib Jadeja, Thakore Sahib of Khirasra. He d. in Surrey, UK, 21st June 1991, having had issue, three sons and two daughters:

Became Heir Apprent with the title of Yuvraj Sahib on the succession of his father, 26th February 1948. Succeeded on the death of his father as Head of the Royal House of Cutch, 21st June 1991. Installed at a private ceremony at Bhuj, 17th October 1991. Dir. The Gandhidhilam Spinning & Manufacturing Co. Ltd. m. 16th February 1957, H.H. Maharani Bai Srila Preeti Devi Sahib (b. at Tripura House, Calcutta, 23rd April 1938), younger daughter of Colonel H.H. Bisam-Samar-Bijojee Mahamopadhyaya Pancha-Srijukta Maharaja Sri Sri Sri Sir Bir Bikram Kishore Deb Barman Manikya Bahadur, Maharaja of Tripura, GBE, KCSI, by his second wife, H.H.
