Mehtar Sir Muhammad Shuja ul-Mulk, Mehtar of Chitral, KCIE (1.1.1919, CIE 1.1.1903). b. at Chitral, 1882, youngest son of Shah Muhammad Aman ul-Mulk II, Mehtar of Chitral and Yasin, Master of Ghizr, Ishkoman and Suzerain of Kafiristan, by his wife, a sister of the Khan of Asmar, in Afghanistan, educ. privately. Recognised by the British authorities and the Maharaja of Kashmir as successor to his father, 3rd March 1895. Installed at Chitral Fort, by British and Kashmiri forces after the conquest of Chitral, 1st May1895. Reigned under a Council of Regency until he came of age and was invested with full ruling powers. Attended the Coronation Durbars at Delhi in 1903 and 1911. Granted a personal salute of 11-guns together with the style of His Highness 11th December 1911 (made permanent and hereditary, 18th July 1919). Hon Cdt The Chitral Scouts 21/8/1903-1936, Hon Col Cdt Chitral State Scouts. Mbr Himalayan Club (1911). Rcvd: Delhi Durbar gold medals (1903 and 1911), and Silver Jubilee medal (1935). m. (first) a daughter of Mehtar Ghulam Muhi ud-din Shah Khuswaqte, Pahlawan Bahadur, Mehtar of Yasin. m. (second) before 12th August 1912, a daughter of Mir ‘Ali Mardan Shah, sometime Governor of Ishkoman and former Chief of Wakhan, in Badakshan, Afghanistan. m. (third) Kabuli Khonza (d.s.p.), elder daughter of Faiz Gangvur Huzur-i-Walashan Mehtar Sher Afzal, Mehtar of Chitral and Yasin, Master of Ghizr, Ishkoman and Suzerain of Kafiristan. m. (fourth) ca. 1917, a daughter of Nawab Muhammad Sharif Khan Bahadur, Nawab of Dir, CIE. m. (a) a consort from Kusham. m. (b) ca. 1912, a daughter of Khan Bahadur Ataliq Bahadur. m. (c) a consort from Bimboret. m. (d) a consort from Shishi. He d. at Chitral Fort, 13th October 1936 (bur. within the New Noghor-i-Masjid, Chitral), having had issue, sixteen sons and several daughters by four wives and four consorts including:
  • 1) H.H. Nasir ul-Mulk, Mehtar Sir Muhammad Ahmad, Mehtar of Chitral (s/o Pahlawan’s daughter) - see below.
  • 2) Shahzada Amin ud-din Khan. b. at Chitral, 1901 (s/o the Kusham consort). He d. (sp?) before 1st June 1937.

  • 4) Major Shahzada Hissam ul-Mulk. b. at Chitral, September 1902 (s/o Pahlawan’s daughter), educ. Islamia Coll., Peshawar. Governor of Drosh 1924, Maj. Chitral Body Guard 1937. Proclaimed himself Heir Apparent in 1946 due to a false rumour that Muzaffar ul-Mulk had died. Deported to Loralai 1946-1949. m. a daughter of ‘Abdu’l Razak Pasha. He d. 1980, having had issue, two sons and one daughter, including:
    • a) Shahzada Samsam ul-Mulk. b. before 1st June 1937. m. Shahzadi Dur-i-Shahwar (d. 1996), daughter of Colonel H.H. Mehtar Haji Muhammad Muzaffar ul-Mulk, Mehtar of Chitral, by his second wife, a grand-daughter of Mehtar Ghulam Muhi ud-din Shah Khuswaqte, Pahlawan Bahadur, Mehtar of Yasin. He had issue, one son and two daughters:
      • i) Shahzada Zia ul-Mulk. m. younger daughter of his paternal grand uncle, Shahzada Mohay ud-din, sometime to Mehtar Saif ul-Mulk and Minister of State for Tourism. He had issue, two sons and two daughters, including:
        • (1) Shahzada Hasham ul-Mulk.
        • (2) Shahzada Samir ul-Mulk.
      • i) A daughter. m. Shahzada Hyder ul-Mulk, son of Colonel Shahzada Muhammad Muta ul-Mulk, sometime Governor of Shoghor. She had issue, two sons and two daughters - see below.
      • ii) Another daughter. m. Nawab Muhammad Salah ud-din Khan, Nawab of Amb, son of Nawab Muhammad Said Khan, Nawab of Amb, by his wife, Ayesha Sultana, younger daughter of Lieutenant-Colonel H.H. Mehtar Sir Muhammad Nasir ul-Mulk, Mehtar of Chitral, KCIE.
    • b) Dr Shahzada Sardar ul-Mulk. Civil Surgeon-Gen 1973. Founder Shainigar Community Sch. 1998. m. Jamal Khonza, Head Mistress Shainigar Community Sch. since 1998, Councillor Shainigar Village, daughter of his paternal uncle, Colonel Shahzada Khuswakht ul-Mulk, sometime Governor of Mastuj. He had issue, one son and five daughters, including:
      • i) Shahzada Hussain ul-Mulk, educ. Edward’s Coll, Peshawar.

  • 5) Shahzada Khadev ul-Mulk [Molkhowichi Shahzada]. b. at Chitral, 1904 (s/o Pahlawan’s daughter), educ. Islamia Coll., Peshawar. Served in the Third Afghan War 1919, Governor of Mulikho 1924. m. (first) a daughter of Shah ‘Abdu’l Hassan, Maulai Pir of Hasanabad. . m. (second) a daughter of Nawab Sir Muhammad Shah Jahan Khan Bahadur, Nawab of Dir, KBE, by his wife, a daughter of Shah Muhammad Aman ul-Mulk II, Mehtar of Chitral and Yasin, Master of Ghizr, Ishkoman and Suzerain of Kafiristan. He had issue, three sons and one daughter:
    • a) Shahzada Ghulam Jilani [Joghoro Shahzada]. b. at Chitral, 26th February 1922. He d. 2002, having had issue, three sons:
      • i) Shahzada Nisar Jilani, of Khosht. m. the younger daughter of Colonel Shahzada Khusrow ul-Mulk, by his wife, Alghani Khonza, daughter of Nawab Sir Muhammad Shah Jahan Khan Bahadur, Nawab of Dir, KBE. He had issue, one son and five daughters, including:
        • (1) Shahzada Hassan Jilani.
      • ii) Shahzada Riaz Jilani. m. an Egyptian Doctor, and has issue, one son and one daughter, including:
        • (1) Shahzada Umer Jilani.
      • iii) Dr Shahzada Faiz Jilani. m. a daughter of ‘Abdu’l Latif Khan, a grandson of Khan Muhammad ‘Umara Khan, Khan of Jandul and Dir. He has issued two sons and two daughters.
    • b) Shahzada Imad ul-Mulk, of Drasun Mulkhow. b. before 1st June 1937. He has issue, two sons and one daughter:
      • i) Shahazada Saeed ul-Mulk.
      • ii) Shahzada Iqbal ul-Mulk. m. a daughter of his paternal grand uncle, Colonel Shahzada Muhammad Muta ul-Mulk, sometime Governor of Shoghor. He had issue, five sons and two daughters, including:
        • (1) Shahzada Mansur ul-Mulk.
        • (2) Shahzada Iqtidar ul-Mulk.

      • i) a daughter. m. 1992, Shahzada Sikander Hayat (b. at Kabul, 1954), youngest son of Shahzada Amir Abe Hayat, ‘Usman ul-Mulk, of Dammernisar. She has issue, one son and one daughter - see above.
    • c) Shahzada Fakhr ul-Mulk. b. before 1st June 1937. Poet and man of letters. He d. at Chitral, 31st October 2005, having had issue, four sons and three daughters, including:
      • i) Major Shahzada Iftikhar ul-Mulk.
      • ii) Shahzada Mubashir ul-Mulk. m. a daughter of his paternal uncle, Colonel Shahzada Muhammad Muta ul-Mulk, sometime Governor of Shoghor.
      • iii) Shahzada Tanvir ul-Mulk. Advocate. m. a descendant of Mehtarjao Afrasiyab, of Koghozi.
      • iv) Shahzada Muddasar ul-Mulk. Engineer. m. a descendant of Mehtarjao Afrasiyab, of Koghozi.
      • i) A daughter. m. a gentleman from Islamabad.
      • ii) Another daughter. m. Pir Sayyid Zahir ud-din Al-Gilani, son of Pir Sayyid ‘Abdu’llah Muiz ud-din Al-Gilani, by his wife, the elder daughter of Major Mehtarjao Muhammad ‘Usman Khan, of Gahiret. She had issue, one son - see below.
  • 6) Shahzada Muhammad Ghazi ud-din Khan. b. at Chitral, 1904 (s/o the Bimboret consort), educ. Islamia Coll, Peshawar, and Aligarh Muslim Univ (BA). Granted Nagar, Utzun, Ziarat and Pattai in jagir. Served in the 3rd Afghan War 1919, Sikatar to the Mehtar 1937. m. a daughter of Sardar Muhammad Yusuf Khan Muhammadzai, by his wife, Koko Jan, daughter of H.H. Amir Muhammad Yaqub Khan, Amir of Afghanistan. He had issue, two sons:

      • i) Shahzada Salah ud-din [Sarkar Nagar]. m. a daughter of Khan Rahimdad Khan, Khan of Hathiyan Mardan, sometime Provincial Presdt Pakistan Peoples’ Party. He has issue, four sons and two daughters:
        • (1) Shahzada Ghazi ud-din. b. 22nd May 1984.
        • (2) Shahzada Faisal Salah ud-din. b. 28th June 1985.
        • (3) Shahzada Jamal ud-din. b. 28th July 1988.
        • (4) Shahzada Hamid ul-Mulk. b. 19th July 2006.
        • (1) Zainab Khonza. b. 28th Feburary 1992.
        • (2) Hina Khonza. b. 6th June 1993.
      • i) The elder daughter. m. a conservationist from Islamabad.
      • ii) The younger daughter. m. Mehtarjao Zia ud-din ‘Ali Khan, sometime Consul-Gen at Jalalabad, son of Major Mehtarjao Muhammad ‘Usman Khan, of Gahiret, by his wife, Shahzadi Amna Sultan, sometime Provincial Minister for Women’s Affairs, daughter of Colonel H.H. Mehtar Haji Muhammad Muzaffar ul-Mulk, Mehtar of Chitral. She d. 1984, having had issue, one son and two daughters - see above.
    • b) Shahzada Nasir ud-din. Civil Servant. He d. 2002, having had issue, two sons and three daughters, including:
      • i) Shahzada Shuja ud-din. m. a daughter of Major-General H.H. Nawab Muhammad Shah Khusru Khan Bahadur, Nawab of Dir. He d. 1989, having had issue, one son.
      • ii) Shahzada Ihsan ud-din. m. a daughter of Major Shahzada Shams ud-din, sometime Sikatar to Mehtar Saif ul-Mulk.
      • i) A daughter. m. a grandson of Major-General Nawab Muhammad Shah Khusru Khan Bahadur, Nawab of Dir - see Pakistan (Dir).
      • ii) Another daughter. m. Nawab Muhammad Shah Salim Khan Bahadur, Nawab of Dir, son of Major-General H.H. Nawab Muhammad Shah Khusru Khan Bahadur, Nawab of Dir. She had issue, two sons - see Pakistan (Dir).
  • 7) Shahzada Shahab ud-din Khan. b. at Chitral, 1911 (s/o the Shushi consort). Mbr Board of Administration 1950. m. Fatima Jan Ayim, daughter of His Grace Sayyid Nasir ud-din ‘Abdu’l Karim Khan, Khan of Kokand. He had issue, two sons:
    • a) Major Shahzada Shams ud-din. Sometime Sikatar to Mehtar Saif ul-Mulk. m. …Bibi (d. from heart failure, at Broze, 19th May 2004). He had issue, one son and five daughters:

    • b) Shahzada Jalal ud-din. Local government servant. m. Khonza Mas, younger daughter of Major Mehtarjao Muhammad ‘Usman Khan, of Gahiret, sometime ADC, by his wife, Shahzadi Amna Sultan, sometime Provincial Minister for Women’s Affairs, daughter of Colonel H.H. Mehtar Haji Muhammad Muzaffar ul-Mulk, Mehtar of Chitral. He d. 1990, having had issue, an only son:
      • i) Shahzada Iftikhar ud-din Jehangir. m. the elder daughter of his maternal uncle, Mehtarjao Zia-ud-Din ‘Ali Khan, sometime Consul-Gen at Jalalabad, by his wife, the younger daughter of Shahzada Siraj ud-din [Sarkar Nagar]. He has issue, one son and two daughters.
  • 8) Shahzada Amir ud-din Khan [Boshkhoroko Shahzada]. b. at Chitral, 1912 (s/o the Kusham consort). Governor of Kalkatak. m. (first) Bibi Hawa Khonza, née Shahzadi Ruqaya Sultan [Hindustani Khonza], eldest daughter of his paternal uncle, Mehtar Muhammad Amir ul-Mulk, Mehtar of Chitral and Yasin, Master of Ghizr, Ishkoman and Suzerain of Kafiristan. m. (i) Biljim Sera, daughter of Ataliq Sarfaraz Shah. m. (a) Ruqaya Bibi, daughter of Muhammad Shafi, from Kalkatak. m. (b) Sultan Bibi (d. at Kalkatak, 14th February 2006, bur. there), daughter of Jami’ullah, sometime Hakim of Arandu. He d. at Chitral, 8th February 2002 (bur. Kalkatak, Drosh), having had issue, seven sons and three daughters:
    • a) Shahzada Mohay ud-din [Sairdorchi Shahzada] (s/o Sarfaraz Shah’s daughter). Sometime Sec for Public Works and Sikatar to Mehtar Saif ul-Mulk, in private business an contracting 1971-1983, Chair Chitral District Council 1983, MNA 1997-2004, Minister of State for Tourism, District Nazim of Chitral 2004. Capt Pakistan National Football Team in 1960s. He had issue, three sons and two daughters:
      • i) Shahzada Iftikhar ud-din, educ. (MBA). m. a daughter of Captain Shahzada Sikandar ul-Mulk. He had issue, one son and one daughter:
        • (1) Shahzada ‘Usman Amin ud-din.
        • (1) Khadijat ul-Kubra Khonza.
      • ii) Shahzada Khalid Pervez. Dist. Head of Pakistan Muslim League 2004. m. a lady from the family of the foster brother of Mehtar Shuja ul-Mulk. He had issue, an only daughter:

      • iii) Shahzada Suhail Mohay ud-din.
      • i) Parveen Khonza. m. Shahzada Masud ul-Mulk, CEO Sarhad Rural Support Program, son of her paternal uncle, Major Shahzada Khushamad ul-Mulk. He had issue, three sons and one daughter - see below.
      • ii) A daughter. m. Shahzada Zia ul-Mulk, eldest son of her paternal first cousin, Shahzada Samsam ul-Mulk, of Drosh. She had issue, two sons and two daughters - see above.
    • b) Shahzada Nizam ud-din (s/o the Kalkatak lady). Employed by US Agency for International Dvpt, retd. 1993. m. Carolan Nizamuddin, an Irish-Canadian lady. He had issue, two sons and one daughter:
      • i) Shahzada Dawood Nizamuddin. Settled in Toronto, Canada, in 1994. Banker.
      • ii) Shahzada Faisal Nizamuddin. m. Farahdiba, daughter of Zabiu’llah Nuristani, a tribal chief from Nuristan province, in Afghanistan.
      • i) Rosy Nizamuddin.
    • c) Shahzada Habib ur-Rahman (s/o Amir ul-Mulk’s daughter). m. a granddaughter of Mehtarjao Afrasiyab, of Koghozi. He had issue, two sons and five daughters, including:
      • i) Shahzada Zia ur-Rahman Gormani.
      • ii) Shahzada Zahir ud-din Babur. m. a daughter of his paternal grand uncle, Colonel Shahzada Muhammad Muta ul-Mulk, sometime Governor of Shoghor. He had issue, two sons:
        • (1) Shahzada Hamza Amir ud-din.
        • (2) Shahzada Salman Amir ud-din.
      • i) Gul Khonza (eldest daughter). m. Muhammad Salim Moghul, a businessman settled in Birmingham, UK. She had issue, one son and one daughter:
        • (1) Muhammad Haris Suleman Moghul.

      • ii) The second daughter. m. Shahzada Aziz ul-Mulk, youngest son of her paternal grand uncle, Colonel Shahzada Muhammad Muta ul-Mulk, sometime Governor of Shoghor. She had issue, two sons and two daughters - see below.
    • d) Shahzada Saif ud-din (s/o the Kalkatak lady). m. a Chitrali lady. He had issue, one son and three daughters, including:
      • i) Shahzada Zubair Saif ud-din.
    • e) Shahzada Dr Bakhtiar ud-din (s/o Sarfaraz Shah’s daughter). m. Gulnar Begum, a lady from Mastuj. He had issue, one daughter:
      • i) Zainab Khonza.
    • f) Shahzada Sareer ud-din (s/o Jami’ullah’s daughter). m. a daughter of Sayyid Taufiq, of Sover. He had issue, two sons and three daughters, including:
      • i) Shahzada Ihtisham ud-din.
      • ii) Shahzada Zaka ud-din.
    • g) Shahzada Naeem ud-din (s/o Jamil’ullah’s daughter). Banker. m. a daughter of Mehtarjao Taimur. He had issue, two sons and one daughter:
      • i) Shahzada Fahim ud-din.
      • ii) Shahzada Tafhi ud-din.
    • a) Kaneez Fatima Khonza (d/o Amir ul-Mulk’s daughter). m. Mehtarjao Saleem, of Danin, sometime DSP.
    • b) Sumiya Khatun Khonza (d/o Sarfaraz Shah’s daughter). m. 1979, Shahzada Sohrab Hayat (b. at Dammernisar Fort, 1943), sometime Govt. Contractor in Chitral, second son of Shahzada Amir Abe Hayat, ‘Usman ul-Mulk, of Dammernisar. He has two sons and one daughter - see above.
    • c) Surayah Khatun Khonza (d/o Jami’ullah’s daughter). m. Muhammad Fazl-i-Rabi, of Peshawar, sometime Dir. Water Supply Programme. She had issue, two sons and one daughter, including:
