1859 – 1873 H.M. Sultan Sidi Muhammad IV bin ‘Abdu’l-Rahman, Sultan of Morocco. b. 1803, second son of H.M. Sultan ‘Abu Zaid Mulay ‘Abdu’l-Rahman bin Hisham, Sultan of Morocco, etc, by his first wife, H.H. Lalla Halima bint Sulaiman, daughter of H.M. Sultan Abu ar-Rabi Mulay Sulaiman bin Muhammad, Sultan of Morocco, educ. privately. Khalifa of Marakesh during his father’s reign. Proclaimed on the death of his father, 28^th August 1859. Enthroned at the Dar al-Makhzin, Marrakesh, 1^st September 1859. m. (first) a daughter of al-Arabi al-Jama’ai. m. (second) Lalla Ahniya, daughter of Haji ‘Abdu’l-Kabir al-‘Arusiya. m. (third ) H.H. Lalla Safia bint Maimun, daughter of Sharif Mulay Maimun bin Muhammad. m. (fourth) Lalla Khadija [Lalla bint Sidi]. He d. at the Palace of Ennil, Marrakesh, 16^th September 1873 (bur. at the Tomb of Mulay ‘Ali as-Sharif, Rissani, Tafilalt), having had issue, including seventeen sons and two daughters:

• 1) His Sharifian Majesty Sultan ‘Abu ‘Ali Mulay Hassan I bin Muhammad, Sultan of Morocco, etc. – see below.
• 2) H.H. Mulay Ismail bin Muhammad, educ. privately. Khalifa of Fez in 1874. He had issue:
  • a) H.I.H. Mulay Muhammad al-Mahdi bin Ismail. Enthroned as Khalifa of Tetuan with the style of His Imperial Highness, in the Spanish zone, 19^th April 1913. Rcvd: GC of the Sharifan Order of Alawi. m. Lalla Khnata, daughter of Sidi Muhammad Sussi. He d. at Tetuan, 9^th November 1923, having had issue, three sons and one daughter, including:

    • ii) H.H. Prince Mulay Ahmad bin al-Mahdi.
    • iii) H.H. Prince Mulay Hassan bin al-Mahdi. b. at Fez, 14^th August 1912, educ. privately. Enthroned as Khalifa of Tetuan with the style of His Imperial Highness, in the Spanish zone, 9^th November 1925. Founded the Wissam al-Mahdawiya (the Order of Guidance) in six classes 18^th August 1926 and the Wissam al-Hasaniya (the Order of Beautification) in five classes, 29^th May 1949. Relinquished the Khalifate and the style of Imperial Highness, 7^th April 1956. Ambassador at the Court of St James’s 1957-1964, and to Italy 1964-1967, Mbr Personal-Economic Council of the King 1967, Presdt National Bank for Economic Dvpt. 1967-1969, Governor Al-Maghrib Bank 1969-1983. Rcvd: GC of the Sharifan Orders of Alawi and the Throne of Morocco, the Collar of the Order of Carlos III (27.5.1942), and GC of the Orders of Naval Merit of Spain (4.10.1935), Merit of the Republic of Italy, etc. m. (first) .… m. (second) at Tetuan, 5^th June 1949, H.H. Princess Lalla Fatima Zohra al-Azizia (b. at Tangiers, 13^th June 1927; d. at the Royal Palace Hospital, Rabat, 15^th September 2003, bur. there at the Mulay al-Hassan Mausoleum), daughter of His Sharifian Majesty Mulay ‘Abdu’l-Aziz, Sultan of Fez, Tafilalt, Marrakesh and Sus, Amir al-Mu’minin, GCB, by his wife, H.H. Lalla Yasmin. m. (third) August 1972, H.R.H. Princess Lalla Aisha (b. at Rabat, 17^th June 1930), former wife of Mulay Hassan al-Yaqubi, and second daughter of H.M. King Muhammad V, by his first wife, Sharifa Lalla Abla, younger daughter of Sharif Mulay Muhammad al-Tahar bin Hassan . He d. at Rabat, 1^st November 1984, having had issue, one son and four daughters:

Lycée Français, Rabat, and Grenoble Univ (D.Econ), France, Chargé de Mission Royal Cabinet, Permanent Representative UN, Ambassador to Saudi Arabia and Algeria, Presdt & MD Morocco-Kuwaiti Consortium (CMKD) 1979-1994, Presdt Assoc de Dévelopment Régional Bouregreg de Sale, Wafa Bank, Petrom, Farah, Safir and other companies, Mbr Chess Club and Diplomatic Circle. (first) Lalla Aisha bint Abbas, daughter of Mulay Abbas bin ‘Abdu’l-Rahman, sometime Khalifa of of Gharb and C-in-C, by Um Sa’ad. m. (second) Lalla Nufissa bint Glawi, from the al-Glaoui family. He had issue, including:
