Tunku Intan binti Tunku Alang Husain, Tuanku Ampuan, sometime Regent, daughter of Y.A.M. Tunku Husain ibni al-Marhum Raja Hitam, Tunku Alang. Styled Tunku Laksamana before his accession. Elected as ruler on the death of his uncle, 1869. Reigned under the regency of his mother until he came of age and assumed full ruling powers, and formally installed as Yang di-Pertuan Besar, 1875. Assumed the style of Al-Malik ul-Manan us-Sultan, but this was never recognised by the subordinate rulers of the federation. Attacked his vassals and instigated a long civil war. Punished by the British who induced him to give up his titles of Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan Besar of the Negri Sembilan federation, 23rd November 1876.
