1851 - 1879 H.H. Paduka Sri Sultan Muhammad Bashar ud-din Saif ul-'Alam Shah ibni al-Marhum Sultan Thaf Sinar Bashar Shah [Al-Marhum Kota Batu], Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Serdang. b. 1809, youngest son of H.H. Paduka Sri Sultan Thaf Sinar Bashar Shah ibni al-Marhum Tuanku Ainan Johan Pahlawan Alam Shah, Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Serdang, by his wife, Tuanku Sri Indra Kuala binti al-Marhum Tuanku Sutan Usalli, Tuanku Ampuan, daughter of Tuanku Sutan Usalli ibni al-Marhum Tuanku Nan Panjang, Yang di-Pertuan of Perbaungan, educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1850/1851. Forced to accept Acehnese sovereignty and recognised as Wazir Sultan Aceh (i.e. Minister of the Sultan of Aceh) in 1854. Inherited Perbaungan after the death of his father-in-law. Deprived of the districts of Danai, Padang, and Bedagai and Perchut, by the Dutch, who ceded them to the Sultan of Deli in 1865. m. (first) H.H. Tengku Zahra binti Tuanku Musa Ainan Rahmad Shah, Tengku Ampuan, younger daughter and heiress of Tuanku Musa Ainan Rahmad Shah ibni al-Marhum Tuanku Sutan Usalli, Yang di-Pertuan of Perbaungan. m. (second) Y.M. Inche' Rata, of Pantai Cermin. He d. at Istana Bogok, Rantau Panjang Serdang, 20th December 1879 (bur. Makam di-Raja, Kampung Besar), having had issue, one son and two daughters:

1879 - 1946 H.H. Paduka Sri Sultan Tuanku Sulaiman Sharif ul-'Alam Shah ibni al-Marhum Sultan Bashar un-din [Al-Marhum Perbaungan], Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Serdang.b. 17th July 1862, only son of H.H. Paduka Sri Sultan Muhammad Bashar un-din Saif ul-'Alam Shah ibni al-Marhum Sultan Thaf Sinar Bashar Shah, Sultan and Yang di-Pertuan Besar of Serdang, by his wife, Inche', educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his father, 20th December 1879. Reigned under a Cncl. of Regency until he came of age and assumed full ruling powers, 29th January 1887. Installed at Perbaungan, 4th May 1889. Recovered the district of Danai from the Sultanate of Deli in 1882. Removed his capital to Simpang Tiga Perbaungan in 1896. A long-standing opponent of Dutch rule, he refused to sign a contract with the government of the NEI for several years. Acceded to the Indonesian Republic on 4th December 1945. Detained during the "social revolution". Chair. Sarikat ul-Mulk 1922. Rcvd: Knt. of the Order of the Netherlands Lion (26.7.1927), and Officer of the Order of Orange-Nassau (22.8.1923). m. (first) at Medan, 21st March 1891, H.H. Tengku Darwishah binti Raja Burhan ud-din, Tengku Permaisuri (d. 13th October 1946), daughter of Raja Burhan ud-din, of Paggaruyung, sometime Cdt. of Tanah Abang Dist. m. (second) Y.M. Inche' Kurnia Purba (d. at Perbaungan, 12th December 1939). m. (third) Y.M. Inche' Raya Purba. m. (fourth) Y.A.M. Tuanku Hajjah Zahara binti al-Marhum Tuanku Ainan Rahmad Shah, Tengku Ampuan, younger daughter of Tuanku Ainan Rahmad Shah ibni al-Marhum Tuanku Sutan Usalli, Yang di-Pertuan of Perbaungan. He d. in protective custody, at Perbaungan Bandar Setia, 13th October 1946 (bur. there at the Masjid Raya Sulaimaniyah), having had issue, five sons and three daughters:
