'Abu'l Hasan 'Ali III Pasha, Bey and Possessor of
the Kingdom of Tunis. b. 14th August
1817, fourth son of Lieutenant- General H.H. 'Abu
'Abdu'llah Husain II Pasha, Beylerbeyi of Tunis,
by his second wife, Lalla Fatima al-Munastiri, educ.
privately. Invested as Heir Apparent with the title of Bey
al-Mahalla and the style of His Highness,
23rd August 1863. Succeeded on the death of
his elder brother, 29th October 1882.
Installed at the Baît al-Bellar, in the Palace of Bardo,
2nd November 1882. Signed the Convention of La
Marsa on 8th June 1883, which confirmed the
French Protectorate over his realm. Lieut-Gen. 23/8/1863,
prom. Field Marshal 28/10/1882. Sovereign and Grand
Master of the Nishan al-Ahad al-Aman,
Nishan ad-Dam, and Nishan al-Iftikhar.

of Tunis, GCMG, and d. at Kasr as-Sa'ada, La
Marsa, 30th December 1942, bur. Sidi
Belhassen Mausoleum, Jellaz), a Circassian, widow of his
brother and predecessor, Field Marshal H.H. Sidi
Muhammad as-Sadiq Pasha, Bey and Possessor of the
Kingdom of Tunis, GCB. m. (third) Lalla
Zanukha [Zeneïkha], probably a former Circassian slave
girl. He d. at his palace at La Marsa, 11th
June 1902 (bur. Turbat al-Bey, the Madina, Tunis),
