1882 - 1902 H.H. 'Abu'l Hasan 'Ali III Pasha, Bey and Possessor of the Kingdom of Tunis. b. 14th August 1817, fourth son of Lieutenant-General H.H. 'Abu 'Abdu'llah Husain II Pasha, Beylerbeyi of Tunis, by his second wife, Lalla Fatima al-Munastiri, educ. privately. Appointed as Heir Apparent and formally invested with the title of Bey al-Mahalla and the style of His Highness, 23rd August 1863. Succeeded on the death of his elder brother, 29th October 1882. Installed at the Baît al-Bellar, in the Palace of Bardo, 2nd November 1882. Signed the Convention of La Marsa on 8th June 1883, which confirmed the French Protectorate over his realm. Appointed as Lieut-Gen 23/8/1863, prom Field Marshal 28/10/1882. Sovereign and Grand Master of the Nishan al-Ahad al-Aman, Nishan ad-Dam, and Nishan al-Iftikhar. Rcvd: the Nishan al-Ahad al-Aman al-Murassa (1874), Nishan ad-Dam, and GC of the Nishan al-Iftikhar when a young prince, GC of the Orders of the Legion of Honour in brilliants* (1.11.1882), and the Nishan al-Anuar, Officer of the Orders of the Academic Palms, and Agricultural Merit of France, GC of the Order of Leopold of Belgium (mil), etc. m. several wives, including (first) Lalla Saliha [Salouha]. m. (second) Lalla Qamar Beya [Kmar] (m. third, 1906, H.H. Muhammad al-Nasir Pasha, Bey and Possessor of the Kingdom of Tunis, GCMG, and d. at Kasr as-Sa'ada, La Marsa, 30th December 1942, bur. Sidi Belhassen Mausoleum, Jellaz), a Circassian lady, widow of his brother and predecessor, Field Marshal H.H. Sidi Muhammad as-Sadiq Pasha, Bey and Possessor of the Kingdom of Tunis, GCB. m. (third) Lalla Zanukha [Zeneïkha], probably a former Circassian slave girl. He d. at his palace at La Marsa, 11th June 1902 (bur. Turbat al-Bey, the Madina, Tunis), having had issue, five sons and six daughters:
