1796 - 1797  H.I.M. Zillu'llah Agha Muhammad Shah, Shahanshah of the God protected realms of Persia. b. at the house of Sayyid Mufid, Astarabad, 14th March 1742, educ. privately. Fell into the hands of 'Adil Shah I Afshar 1748 and was castrated by him. Governor of Tabriz 1757. Ilkhani of the Qajar tribe, 1759. Styled Piran ud-Daula by Karim Khan Zand. Held as an 'open captive' of Karim Khan Zand until his death in 1779. By 1785 he had conquered Gorgan, Mazandaran and Gilan, Qum and Isfahan in early 1786 and occupied Tehran, 12th March 1786. Assumed the Regency of Persia, 30th October 1794. Deposed Shah Lutf 'Ali Zand and assumed the title of Shahanshah, 14th May 1796. Crowned at Tehran, 1796. m. (first) 1779, H.M. Agha Bajji, Mahd-i-'Aliya (d. at Tehran, 1802), former of his brothers Murtaza Quli Khan-e Qajar Quyunlu, Jahansuz Shah, and widow of his elder brother, Husain Quli Khan-e Qajar, Jahansuz Shah, and daughter of Muhammad Agha Khan-e Qajar Izz ud-dinlu. m. (second) Maryam Khanum Bani Israel (m. second, before 1798, H.I.M. Zillu'llah Gity Sitan Sikander Shahan Jam Jah Faridun Far Kisra Shaukat-i-Islam Panah Shari'at Panah Hafiz-i-Mulk-i-'Azam Sultan ibn Sultan Fath 'Ali Shah, Khusru Keshvar-sitan, Sahib-i-Qiran, by whom she left issue - see below), a Jewish lady. He was k. (s.p.) at Shusha, Azerbaijan 17th June 1797 (bur. at the shrine of Imam 'Ali, Najjaf, Arabia).

Zillu'llah Gity Sitan Sikander Shahan Jam Jah Faridun Far Kisra Shaukat-i-Islam Panah Shari'at Panah Hafiz-i-Mulk-i-'Azam Sultan ibn Sultan Fath 'Ali Shah, Khusru Keshvar-sitan, Sahib-i-Qiran, Shahanshah of the God protected realms of Persia. b. at Damghan, 5th September 1772, as Fath 'Ali Khan-e Qajar Quyunlu, educ. privately. Nicknamed Khan Baba Khan during his early years. Appointed Heir Apparent to his uncle with the style of Sultan Fath 'Ali Shah and the title of Vali Ahad-i-Khakan-i-Maghfur, 1790. Appointed General and Cdr. of the expedition to Iraq 1791, Governor-General of Fars, Kerman and Yazd 1794-1797. Styled Nawab-i-Mustatab-i-Jahanbani from 1794, and Nai'b us-Sultana from 14th May 1796. Succeeded on the death of his uncle, 17th June 1797. Crowned at Tehran, 21st March 1798. Founded the Nishan-i-Khurshid (the Grand Order of the Sun) in 1807, and Nishan-i-Shir u Khurshid (the Imperial Order of the Lion and Sun) in 1808. His principal aghdi wives were:
m. (first) at Mazandaran, 1782, H.M. Queen Aisha Khanum-e Qajar Devehlu, Mahd-i-'Aliya (d.1805), daughter of Fath 'Ali Khan-e Qajar Devehlu. She had issue, two sons and one daughter, and two other children who died young.
m. (second) 1782, H.M. Queen Badar-i-Jahan Khanum, daughter of Muhammad Ja'afar Khan-e Arab (son of Amir Qadir Khan-e Arab, Governor of Bastam). She had issue, two sons and three daughters, and three other children who died young.
m. (third) after 1784 and before Sept. 1789, H.M. Queen Aisha Khanum-e Qajar Quyunlu, widow of his uncle, Mahdi Quli Khan-e Qajar Quyunlu, and elder daughter of H.H. Muhammad Khan-e Qajar Quyunlu, Amir-i-Kabir, sometime Governor-General of Erevan. She had issue, one son and two daughters, and two other children who died young.
m. (fourth) (never consumated) H.M. Queen Agha Begum [Agha Bajji] (d. at Tehran, 1823), who was promoted to be an aqdi wife after the death of his third wife, daughter of Ibrahim Khalil Khan-e Javanshir, Khan of Qarabagh. Agha Begum, lived all her life in the Shah's harem, but not pleasing him, died there still a virgin.
m. (fifth) ca. 1798, H.M. Queen Khair un-nisa Khanum-e Qajar Quyunlu, daughter of his uncle, Murtaza Quli Khan-e Qajar Quyunlu, Jahansuz Shah. She had issue, one son and two other children who died young.
m. (sixth) (div.) Badr un-nisa Khanum, daughter of his uncle, General H.E. Mustafa Quli Khan-e Qajar Quyunlu. She had issue, an only child who died young.
m. (seventh) H.M. Queen Nani Khanum, who was promoted to be an aghdi wife and raised to the title of Mahd-i-'Aliya, after the death of his first wife in 1805, sister of Mullah 'Abdu'llah of Sari. She had issue, two sons and two daughters, and one other child who died young.
Fath 'Ali Shah's junior sigheh wives included:
m. (1) 1781, Maryam Begum, daughter of Shaikh 'Ali Khan-e Zand. She had issue, one son and two other children who died young.
m. (2) Agha Begum, daughter of H.H. Said Murad Khan-e Zand, Governor of Isfahan and Regent of Persia in 1789.
m. (3) before 1788, Ziba Kahar Khanum Goraiya, a Georgian slave girl from the Tzicara Chwili family, of Georgia. She had issue, one son and one daughter, and one other child who died young.
m. (4) Bibi Khanum Kuchuk, sister of Sadiq Khan Burujirdi. She had issue, an only son.
m. (5) before 1810, Fatima Khanum, Khanum-i-Mutlaq, alias Sinbal Bajji, taken prisoner by Agha Muhammad Khan when he captured Kerman. sister of 'Ali Akbar Khan of Kerman. She had issue, one son and three daughters, and six other children who died young.
m. (6) before 1791, Zainab Khanum, sister of 'Ali Khan Bakhtiari. She had issue, one son and one daughter, and two other children who died young.
m. (7) before 1792, Begum Jan Khanum, daughter of Hajji Sadiq Qazvini. She had issue, three sons.
m. (8) 1788, Tavus Khanum, Taj ud-Daula, his favourite wife, a former dancer from Isfahan. She had issue, three sons three daughters, and three other children who died young.
m. (9) ca. 1796, H.R.H. Shahzadi Khair un-nisa Khanum, daughter H.M. Hast Sultan bar Salatin-i-Jahan Shah-i-Shahhan Shah-i-Jahan Shahrukh Shah, Sahib-i-Qiran, Shahanshah of Persia, of the Afshar dynasty. She had issue, an only child who died young.
m. (10) before 1807, Khatun Jan Khanum-e Zand, daughter of H.H. Muhammad 'Ali Bahadur Khan-e Zand, sometime Regent of Persia. She had issue, one son and another child who died young.
m. (11) before 1796, Kalthum Khanum, from a family of Sayyids of Pazvar. She had issue, an only son.
m. (12) before 1796, Maryam Khanum Goraiya, a lady from Georgia. She had issue, two sons and three other children who died young.
m. (13) before 1798, Maryam Khanum Bani Israel, a Jewish lady, former wife of his paternal uncle, H.I.M. Zillu'llah Agha Muhammad Shah, Shahanshah of the God protected realms of Persia. She had issue, four sons and two daughters, and five other children who died young.
m. (14) ca. 1798, Taralan Khanum, daughter of 'Allah Yar Khan Qalija, Governor of Sabzawar.
m. (15) 1800, Khadija Khanum, daughter of his maternal grand-uncle, Muhammad Agha Khan-e Qajar Izz ud-dinlu. She had issue, an only child who died young.
m. (16) before 1801, Banafshe Khanum, alias Niqia Badan, a lady from Azerbaijan. She had issue, an only son.
m. (17) Khatun Jan Khanum-e Isfahani [Hajjiya Khatun], daughter of Lutf 'Ali Beg-e Isfahani. She had issue, an only daughter.
m. (18) Khair un-nisa Khanum, daughter of Majnun Khan Pazuki. She had issue, an only daughter.
