OMAN

ORDERS AND DECORATIONS

The Order of Said (Wisam al-Saidi): founded by Sultan Sayyid Faisal bin Turki as the Order of the Saidi State of Oman (Wisam ud-Daula al-Saidi al-Omaniya) in 1913 and awarded in several classes. Revived and modified by Sultan Qaboos in 1982, reduced to one class only.

The Civil Order of Oman - Special class, collar, breast star, sash and sash badge, and collar badge

The Order of Oman (Wisam al-Oman): founded by Sultan Qaboos on 23^rd July 1970, expanded and modified in 1976 and 1982. Awarded in a special class (al-Sharif, or the Honourable), and five ordinary classes (First, Second, Third, Fourth and Fifth class). The latter, awarded in a military and a civil division.

The Order of the Renaissance of Oman (Wisam al-Nahdat al-Oman): founded by Sultan Qaboos in 1974, modified and extended in 1982. Awarded in a special class (al-Ali, or the Exalted) and four ordinary classes (First, Second, Third, and Fourth class).

The Order of Sultan Qaboos (Wisam al-Sultan Qaboos): founded by Sultan Qaboos in 1985. Awarded in three classes (First, Second and Third class).

The Order of Sultan Qaboos - First Class, breast star in brilliants.

The Order of Na'oman (Wisam al-Na'oman): founded by Sultan Qaboos in 1982. Conferred for outstanding services in the fields of diplomacy and foreign relations. Awarded in a special class (al-Qiladat, or Collar), and three ordinary classes (First, Second, and Third class).

The Order of Na'oman - Second Class, breast star

The Order of Achievement (Wisam al-Amajat): founded by Sultan Qaboos 18^th November 1995. Awarded for outstanding achievements in all fields. Awarded in a special class (al-Qiladat, or Collar), and three ordinary classes (First, Second, and Third class).
The Order of Appreciation (Wisam al-Taqdir): founded by Sultan Qaboos in 1990. Awarded in two classes.

The Order of Appreciation - Second class, badge.

The Sultan Qaboos Order of Merit (Wisam Sahat al-Jilalat al-Sultan Qaboos): founded by Sultan Qaboos in 1977. Awarded for services in the fields of commerce and industry, agriculture and sport, in one class only.
The Order of Honour (Wisam al-Imtiaz): founded by Sultan Qaboos in 1978. Awarded in one class only.
The Order of Merit (Wisam al-Asthaq): founded by Sultan Qaboos in 1982 and awarded in one class with an attached medal.

The Sultan Qaboos Order for Science and Culture - Second class, badge.

The Sultan Qaboos Order for Science and Culture (Wisam Litaqafat wa al-'Aloom al-Sultan Qaboos): founded by Sultan Qaboos in 1990 to reward meritorious services in the fields of science, cultur, the arts and education. Awarded in three classes.
The Special Royal Decoration for Officers (Wisam al-Saghir A'ait al-Sultaniat al-Khasat): instituted by Sultan Qaboos on 18th November 1985 to commemorate the fifteenth anniversary of his accession to the throne. Awarded to Omani and expatriate officers who served in the Omani military forces. Awarded in two classes (1. gold, and 2. silver).

The Special Royal Decoration for Officers, second class in silver.
