- 1766 Khan Sahib Khan Bahadur Khan, Regent of
Malerkotla, second son of Nawab Jamal Khan, Nawab of
Malerkotla, by his first wife, Nawab Inayat Begum Sahiba,
educ. privately. Became Regent for his minor
nephew, after the death of his elder brother, 1764.
Usurped sovereignty soon afterwards. Lost Jarg, Payal and
Isru to the combined attacks of Patiala and Kapurthala. m.
1764, a lady from the Malerkotla family. He was k.
in a skirmish with Maharaja Amar Singh of Patiala, near
Mansurpura, 1766 (bur. Shahi Muqbara, Malerkotla),
having had issue, two sons:

brother, April 1784. Joined in alliance with the HEIC to
oppose the Marathas, serving under Lord Lake at Laswari
and the conquest of Delhi in 1803. Placed his state under
British protection 3rd May 1809. He d.
at Malerkotla, 14th August 1809 (bur.
Shahi Muqbara), having had issue, three sons:
1) Khan Sahib Muhammad
Rahmat 'Ali Khan, of Rahmatgarh. Contested the
succession with his cousin, Nawab Muhammad Wazir
Khan, July 1810. Reconciled and granted a number
of villages, which he erected into the jagir
of Rahmatgarh. Served during the Gurkha campaign
1818 and the Anglo-Sikh War 1846. m.
Zainab Bibi Sahiba (d. 1819). He d.
at Calcutta, 4th February 1852 (bur.
Malerkotla), having had issue, three sons:

- 1821 Nawab Muhammad Wazir 'Ali Khan, Nawab of
Malerkotla, eldest son of Nawab Bhikan Khan, Nawab of
Malerkotla, by his wife, Nawab Nadira Begum Sahiba, educ.
privately. Heir Apparent at the death of his father, but
usurped by his uncles, 1762. Succeeded on the death of
his uncle, 14th August 1809. Contested the
succession with his cousin, Khan Muhammad Rahmat 'Ali
Khan, July 1810. Appealed to the British authorities and
received recognised as the rightful and hereditary ruler
of the state. Installed on the musnaid at Fort
Kotla, 29th September 1810. He served in
person, during the Anglo-Nepalese War against, in the
Gurkha campaign around the Simla Hills 1815-1816. He d.
at Malerkotla, 4th September 1821 (bur.
there at the Shahi Muqbara), having had issue, one son:

- 1846 Nawab Amir 'Ali Khan Bahadur, Nawab of Malerkotla,

Malerkotla, educ. privately. Succeeded on the
death of his father, 4th September 1821.
Served in person during the First Afghan War 1839-1942.
Granted a salute of 9-guns with the personal style of His
Highness 1840. He d. at Fort Kotla, 8th
April 1846 (bur. there at the Shahi Muqbara),
having had issue, one son:

privately. Succeeded on the death of his father, 8th
April 1846. Ascended the musnaid 9th
April 1846. Served in the First Anglo-Sikh War and
provided a contingent of 700 foot for the Sutlej campaign
in 1845-1846. Granted a personal salute of 11-guns,
together with the style of His Highness, 26th
January 1847. Assisted the government in the Mutiny
campaigns at Ludhiana, and other places in the Punjab,
1857. Granted Fatehpur, Chhanna and Maherna Khurd, in jagir
for loyal service. m. (first) H.H. Nawab Maher
Begum Sahiba (d. at Malerkotla, 3rd
October 1872, bur. Shahi Muqbara). m.
(second) at Malerkotla, 22nd December 1848, a
lady from a Rajput family. He d. at Malerkotla, 25th
November 1857 (bur. there at the Shahi Muqbara),
