  • 1764 - 1766 Khan Sahib Khan Bahadur Khan, Regent of Malerkotla, second son of Nawab Jamal Khan, Nawab of Malerkotla, by his first wife, Nawab Inayat Begum Sahiba, educ. privately. Became Regent for his minor nephew, after the death of his elder brother, 1764. Usurped sovereignty soon afterwards. Lost Jarg, Payal and Isru to the combined attacks of Patiala and Kapurthala. m. 1764, a lady from the Malerkotla family. He was k. in a skirmish with Maharaja Amar Singh of Patiala, near Mansurpura, 1766 (bur. Shahi Muqbara, Malerkotla), having had issue, two sons:
    • 1) Sahibzada Himmat Khan. He d. 1831, having had issue, three sons:
      • a) Khan Sahib Muhammad Faiz 'Ali Khan. m. Mussammat Murad Bibi. He d.s.p.
      • b) Khan Sahib Muhammad Ahmad 'Ali Khan.
      • c) Khan Sahib Muhammad Rustam 'Ali Khan. Remained loyal during the Nawabs absence on campaign in 1857, and opposed a mutinous regiment trying to march through the state towards Delhi. m. Bu Sahi Jan. He d. 1865, having had issue, a son:
        • i) Khan Sahib Muhammad Nasru'llah Khan. He d.v.p.
    • 2) Sahibzada Daler Khan [Zafar Khan]. He d. 1832, having had issue, one son:
      • a) Khan Sahib Ghulam Muhammad Khan. He d. 3rd May 1878, having had issue, five sons:
        • i) Khan Sahib Muhammad Ihsan 'Ali Khan. He d. 1907, having had issue, three sons:
          • (1) Khan Sahib Muhammad Mohsin 'Ali Khan. He d.v.p.s.p. 1888.
          • (2) Haji Khan Sahib Muhammad Ihsan 'Ali Khan [Nathu Khan]. b. 1890, educ. Aitchison Coll., Lahore. He had issue, two sons:
            • (a) Khan Sahib Husain 'Ali Khan. b. 1910, educ. Aitchison Coll., Lahore.
            • (b) Khan Sahib Hasan 'Ali Khan, educ. Aitchison Coll., Lahore. m. a daughter of the Nawab of Kunjpura, in the Delhi dist., Punjab.
          • (3) Khan Sahib Muhammad 'Ali Naqi Khan. He d. 1915.
        • ii) Khan Sahib Baqir 'Ali Khan. He d.s.p. 1908.

        • iv) Nawab Sir Muhammad Zulfikar 'Ali Khan, CSI (12.12.1911). b. 1875, educ. Govt. Ward's Institute, Ambala; Aitchison Coll., Lahore; Punjab Univ.; Trinity Coll., Cambridge and the Univ. of the Sorbonne, France. Hon. Extra Assist. Cmsnr. at Ludhiana until 1895. Mbr. Imperial LC 1910-1919, MSC 1920-1925, Chief Minister of Patiala 1910-1913, MLA Punjab 1926-1933, Mbr. Simon Comsn. 1928-1929, Indian delegate to the League of Nations 1930, Mbr. Indian Franchise Ctte. 1932. Raised to the personal title of Nawab, and Knighted 1919. m. 1903, …Begum Sahiba. He d. at Lahore, 26th May 1933, having had issue, two sons and two daughters, including:
          • (1) Nawabzada Rashid 'Ali Khan [Nizamat 'Ali Khan]. b. 1904.
          • (2) The Hon Nawabzada Khurshid 'Ali Khan, MBE (c 1.1.1938). b. at Lahore, 1909, educ., Cambridge Prep. Sch., Dehra Dun, Barr-at-Law (Inner Temple), Sec. to his father 1926-1933, Mbr. the Viceroy's Council of State 1937, Hon. Lieut. IA.
          • (1) Qudsia Begum Sahiba. b. 2nd April 1909. Mbr. Constituent Assembly of India 1946-1950, MP Provisional Parliament 1950-1952, MP Raj Sabha 1952-1956 and 1962-1968, MLC for Sandila UP state assembly 1958-1989, Minister for Social Welfare, Animal Husbandry, Fisheries, Waqfs and Sport. Presdt. All-India Women's Hockey Assoc., Karamat Husain Muslim Girls' Coll., Lucknow, IR Coll., Sadila, Aizaz Rasool Degree Coll., etc. Chair. UP Minorities Cmsn. 1979-1989. m. Nawab Aizaz Rasool Khan, of Sandila, UP. She d. at Lucknow, 1st August 2001 (bur. Sandila), having had issue, two sons and two daughters.
        • v) Khan Sahib Muhammad Yusuf 'Ali Khan. He d.s.p. 1901.
        • i) a daughter. m. H.H. Nawab Muhammad Ibrahim 'Ali Khan Bahadur, Nawab of Malerkotla (b. 13th October 1857; d. from cholera, 23rd August 1908), eldest son of Colonel Khan Muhammad Dilawar 'Ali Khan. She had issue - see below.

  • 1766 - 1780 Khan Sahib 'Umar Khan, Regent of Malerkotla, third son of Nawab Jamal Khan, Nawab of Malerkotla, by his second wife, Nawab Sultan Begum Sahiba, educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his half-brother, 1766. Recovered many of the family territories, which had been lost to the Sikhs. He d. at Malerkotla, 1st November 1780 (bur. there at the Shahi Muqbara), having had issue, two sons and one daughter:
    • 1) Khan Sahib Husain 'Ali Khan. He had issue, two sons:
      • a) Khan Sahib Sultan Khan. He d.s.p. 1842.
      • b) Khan Sahib Turra Baz Khan. He d.s.p. 1844.
    • 2) Khan Sahib Muhammad 'Ali Khan. He d.s.p.
    • 1) Sahibzadi Jhando Begum.

  • 1780 - 1784 Khan Sahib Asadu'llah Khan, Regent of Malerkotla, fourth son of Nawab Jamal Khan, Nawab of Malerkotla, by his second wife, Nawab Sultan Begum Sahiba, educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his elder brother, 1st November 1780. m. (first) Nuran Bibi Sahiba. m. (second) Sultan Bibi Sahiba. He d. at Malerkotla, April 1784 (bur. there at the Shahi Muqbara), having had issue, one son:
    • 1) Sahibzada Muhammad 'Ali Khan. m. (first) 1782, Musammat Nur un-nisa Begum, daughter of Amir Khan, of Bhattian, in the Hissar dist., Punjab. m. (second) Mussammat Sultan Bibi (d. at Malerkotla, 9th April 1840). He d.s.p.m. at Malerkotla, 1808, having had issue, an only daughter:
      • a) Sahibzadi Bu Jhando Begum.

  • 1784 - 1809 Khan Atau'llah Khan, Regent of Malerkotla, fifth son of Nawab Jamal Khan, Nawab of Malerkotla, by his second wife, Nawab Sultan Begum Sahiba, educ. privately.  Succeeded on the death of his elder brother, April 1784. Joined in alliance with the HEIC to oppose the Marathas, serving under Lord Lake at Laswari and the conquest of Delhi in 1803. Placed his state under British protection 3rd May 1809. He d. at Malerkotla, 14th August 1809 (bur. Shahi Muqbara), having had issue, three sons:
    • 1) Khan Sahib Muhammad Rahmat 'Ali Khan, of Rahmatgarh. Contested the succession with his cousin, Nawab Muhammad Wazir Khan, July 1810. Reconciled and granted a number of villages, which he erected into the jagir of Rahmatgarh. Served during the Gurkha campaign 1818 and the Anglo-Sikh War 1846. m. Zainab Bibi Sahiba (d. 1819). He d. at Calcutta, 4th February 1852 (bur. Malerkotla), having had issue, three sons:
      • a) Khan Sahib Rashid 'Ali Khan.
      • b) Colonel Khan Sahib Muhammad Dilawar 'Ali Khan, of Rahmatgarh. Served with distinction during the Indian Mutiny, 1857. He d. at Rahmatgarh, 1861, having had issue, five sons:
        • i) Nawab Muhammad Ibrahim 'Ali Khan, Nawab of Malerkotla - see below.
        • ii) Khan Sahib Akbar 'Ali Khan.
        • iii) Khan Sahib Asghar 'Ali Khan.

        • v) Khan Sahib Muhammad Inayat 'Ali Khan. Served in the Second Afghan War on the NWF as ADC to General Sir John Watson, 1878. Author of "A Description of the Principal Kotla Afghans" (1882). He d. 1923, having had issue, one son and one daughter:
          • (1) Sahibzada Muhammad 'Ubaidu'llah Khan. He d. 1889.
          • (1) A daughter. m. as his first wife, Lieutenant-Colonel H.H. Nawab Sir Muhammad Ahmad 'Ali Khan Bahadur, Nawab of Malerkotla, KCSI, KCIE (b. 10th September 1881; d. 16th October 1947), second son of H.H. Nawab Muhammad Ibrahim 'Ali Khan Bahadur, Nawab of Malerkotla - see below.
      • c) Khan Sahib Sa'adat 'Ali Khan.
    • 2) Khan Sahib Fazl 'Ali Khan. Served at the siege of Bharatpur 1804-1805. He d.s.p. 1844.
    • 3) Khan Sahib Imam 'Ali Khan. He d. 1839, having had issue, one son and one daughter:
      • b) Khan Sahib Sarfaraz 'Ali Khan.
      • a) H.H. Nawab Karamat un-nisa Begum Sahiba. m. at Malerkotla, 1842, as his first wife, H.H. Nawab Muhammad Sikander 'Ali Khan Bahadur, Nawab of Malerkotla (d. at Malerkotla, 16th July 1871), only son of H.H. Nawab Mahbub 'Ali Khan [Sube Khan], Nawab of Malerkotla, by his first wife. She had issue - see below.

  • 1809 - 1821 Nawab Muhammad Wazir 'Ali Khan, Nawab of Malerkotla, eldest son of Nawab Bhikan Khan, Nawab of Malerkotla, by his wife, Nawab Nadira Begum Sahiba, educ. privately. Heir Apparent at the death of his father, but usurped by his uncles, 1762. Succeeded on the death of his uncle, 14th August 1809. Contested the succession with his cousin, Khan Muhammad Rahmat 'Ali Khan, July 1810. Appealed to the British authorities and received recognised as the rightful and hereditary ruler of the state. Installed on the musnaid at Fort Kotla, 29th September 1810. He served in person, during the Anglo-Nepalese War against, in the Gurkha campaign around the Simla Hills 1815-1816. He d. at Malerkotla, 4th September 1821 (bur. there at the Shahi Muqbara), having had issue, one son:
    • 1) H.H. Nawab Amir 'Ali Khan Bahadur, Nawab of Malerkotla - see below.

  • 1821 - 1846 Nawab Amir 'Ali Khan Bahadur, Nawab of Malerkotla, only son of Nawab Muhammad Wazir Khan, Nawab of Malerkotla, educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his father, 4th September 1821. Served in person during the First Afghan War 1839-1942. Granted a salute of 9-guns with the personal style of His Highness 1840. He d. at Fort Kotla, 8th April 1846 (bur. there at the Shahi Muqbara), having had issue, one son:
    • 1) H.H. Nawab Mahbub 'Ali Khan Bahadur, Nawab of Malerkotla - see below.

  • 1846 - 1857 H.H. Nawab Mahbub 'Ali Khan Bahadur [Sube Khan], Nawab of Malerkotla, only son of H.H. Nawab Amir 'Ali Khan Bahadur, Nawab of Malerkotla, educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his father, 8th April 1846. Ascended the musnaid 9th April 1846. Served in the First Anglo-Sikh War and provided a contingent of 700 foot for the Sutlej campaign in 1845-1846. Granted a personal salute of 11-guns, together with the style of His Highness, 26th January 1847. Assisted the government in the Mutiny campaigns at Ludhiana, and other places in the Punjab, 1857. Granted Fatehpur, Chhanna and Maherna Khurd, in jagir for loyal service. m. (first) H.H. Nawab Maher Begum Sahiba (d. at Malerkotla, 3rd October 1872, bur. Shahi Muqbara). m. (second) at Malerkotla, 22nd December 1848, a lady from a Rajput family. He d. at Malerkotla, 25th November 1857 (bur. there at the Shahi Muqbara), having had issue, an only surviving son:
    • 1) H.H. Nawab Muhammad Sikander 'Ali Khan Bahadur, Nawab of Malerkotla (s/o Maher Begum) - see below.
