GENEALOGY

Rana Shri Sugan Singh [Singhandev II], Rana of Gohad (1505 - 1524), fifth in descent from Rana Shri Ratan Pal, of Bamrolia. Entered the service of the Tuar Raja Man Singh of Gwalior, and received Gohad in reward for his services in 1505. Invested with the hereditary title of Rana and with the Royal insignia, comprising a parasol and the chamra or yak-tail.

1699 - 1713 Rana Shri Gaj Singh, Rana of Gohad, eldest son of Rana Shri Bhagraj Singh, Rana of Gohad, educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1699. He d. 1713, having had issue, five sons:

1713 - 1717 Rana Shri Jaswant Singh, Rana of Gohad, second son of Rana Shri Bhagraj Singh, Rana of Gohad, educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his elder brother, 1713. He d. 1717, having had issue, one son:

1717 - 1756 Rana Shri Bhim Singh, Rana of Gohad, son of Rana Shri Jaswant Singh, Rana of Gohad, educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1717. Occupied Gwalior 1740-1756. He d.s.p. from wounds received at the Battle of Saloo, at Gwalior Fort, 1756.

1756 - 1757 Rana Shri Girdhar Pratap Singh, Rana of Gohad, fourth and youngest son of Samant Rao Balju, of Nimrol, educ. privately. Adopted by Rana Shri Bhim Singh, and succeeded him on his death, 1756. He d. young, 1757.

1757 - 1784 H.H. Rais ud-Daula, Sipahdar ul-Mulk, Maharajadhiraja Sri Sawai Maharaj Rana Shri Chhatrapat Singh [Chatrajit], Lokendra Bahadur, Diler Jang, Jai Deo, Maharaj Rana of Gohad, third son of Samant Rao Balju, of Nimrol, educ. privately. Succeeded on the death of his younger brother, 1757. Advanced a large sum of money to Emperor Shah Alam II on his return to Delhi in 1771. Granted the titles of Maharaj Rana, Rais ud-Daula, Sipahdar ul-Mulk, and Diler Jung, as his reward. Entered into treaty relations with the HEIC, 2nd December 1779. Recovered Gwalior 4th August 1780, but lost the fort to Maharaja Madhoji Rao Scindia, after a prolonged siege lasting nearly five months, 21st July 1783. Expelled from Gohad 23rd February 1784. Concluded a Treaty of Alliance with the HEIC, which restored Gwalior to him. Lost Gwalior and Gohad to Scindia in 1784. Fled to Karauli but was captured and kept as a prisoner at Gwalior fort. m. H.H. Maharani …Sahiba (blew herself up with her followers during the taking of Gwalior, 1783). He d.s.p. (poisoned) at Gwalior, 19th April 1788 (succ. by his cousin).

1803 - 1835 H.H. Rais ud-Daula, Sipahdar ul-Mulk, Maharajadhiraja Sri Sawai Maharaj Rana Kirat Singh, Lokendra Bahadur, Diler Jang, Jai Deo, Maharaj Rana of Dholpur. b. at Adhupura, 1763, son of Samant Rao Tara Chand, of Adhupura, educ. privately. Unanimously chosen by the Jat chiefs, after fifteen years of anarchy, bloodshed and plunder, in 1803. Installed at the Baghthurra Fortress, near Gohad, Chait Sud Chodas, Sambat 1845. Restored to the greater part of Gohad by the British in 1803. Granted Dholpur, Bari and Rajakhera in compensation for the seizure of Gohad by the Scindia of Gwalior, December 1805. Established his capital at Dholpur, from which his new state took its name.  He d. at Dholpur, 12th November 1835, having had issue, two sons:
