Puar, Raja of Dewas (Senior). b. at Supa, 30th
October 1849, as Shrimant Sardar Babujirao Madhavrao
Puar, third son of Shrimant Sardar Madhavrao Puar,
Vishwasrao Bahadur, of Supa, educ. privaely.
Adopted by his brother at Savangpur, 26th
February 1857 taking the name and title of Shrimant
Yuvaraj Krishnajirao Rukmangadrao Raje Puar.
Succeeded on his death, 26th July 1860.
Installed on the gadi, 19th March 1861.
Received a sanad of adoption, 11th
March 1862. Reigned under the Regency of his adopted
mother until he came of age and was invested with full
ruling powers, 23rd March 1867. Granted a sanad
of adoption, 11th March 1862. Rcvd: the
Prince of Wales's gold medal (1876), and KIG gold medal
(1877). m. at Gwalior, 1864, H.H. Shrimant Akhand
Soubhagyavati Maharani Tarabai Raje Sahib Puar (d.s.p.
at Dewas, 1st April 1893), eldest daughter of
General H.H. Ali Jah, Umdat ul-Umara, Hisam us-Sultanat,
Mukhtar ul-Mulk, Azim ul-Iqtidar, Rafi-us-Shan Wala
Shukoh, Muhtasham- i-Dauran, Maharajadhiraja Maharaja Sir
Jayajirao Scindia Bahadur, Shrinath, Mansur-i-Zaman,
Fidvi-i-Hazrat-i-Malikha-i-Muazzam,
Rafi-ud-Darja-i-Inglistan, Maharaja Scindia of Gwalior,
GCB, GCSI, CIE, by his first wife, H.H. Shrimant Akhand
Soubhagyavati Maharani Chimnabai Raje Sahib Scindia,
daughter of Sardar Mama Sahib Kadam, sometime Regent of
Gwalior. m. (second) at Dewas, 1894, H.H. Shrimant
Akhand Soubhagyavati Rani Tara Raje Sahib Puar (d.s.p.
at Dewas, 1930), née Hansabai, daughter of Shrimant
Sardar Balwantrao Jadhav [Mama Sahib], Havaldhar, of
Kolhapur. He d. at Dewas, 12th October
1899 (succ. by his adopted son), having had issue,
two daughters:

Puar, Maharaja of Dewas (Senior), KCSI (12.12.1911). b.
at Dewas, 1st January 1888, as Shrimant
Keshavrao Anandrao Puar, eldest son of Shrimant Sardar
Anandrao [Nana Sahib] Puar Maharaje, Vishwasrao Bahadur,
by his wife Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Annapurnabai
Sahib Maharaje, educ. Victoria High Sch., Dewas,
Daly Coll., Indore and Mayo Coll., Ajmer. Adopted by his
uncle's widow, 4th April 1900. Ascended the gadi
on the same day, taking the name of Tukojirao III Puar.
Reigned under a Council of Regency until he came of age
and was invested with full ruling powers, 1908. Attended
the Coronation Durbar at Delhi in 1903. Granted the
hereditary title of Maharaja 1st
January 1918. Presdt. General Maratha Conf. 1907-1909.
Fled to Pondicherry, French India, after which the
administration of the state was assumed by his eldest son
and heir, 26th July 1934. Rcvd: Delhi
Durbar gold medals (1903 and 1911) and Silver Jubilee
medal (1935). m. (first) at Kolhapur, 21st
March 1908, H.H. Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Maharani
Radhabai Maharaje Sahib Puar (b. at the Old
Palace, Kolhapur, 10th March 1894; d.
22nd September 1973), eldest daughter of
Colonel H.H. Shrimant Rajashri Sir Shahu Chhatrapati
Maharaj Sahib Bahadur, Maharaja of Kolhapur, GCSI, GCIE,
GCVO, by his wife, H.H. Maharani Lakshmibai Maharaje
Sahib, daughter of Meherban Shrimant Gunajirao
Khanvilkar, of Baroda. m. (i) (morganatic) at
Dewas, 1921, Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Sardar Hirabai
Sahib Puar, Sarnobhat, Mushir ud-Daula, jagirdar
of Tikarya. He d. at Pondicherry, French India, 21st
December 1937 (succ. by his eldest son), having
had issue, one son by his first wife:

Radhabai Maharaje Sahib Puar, educ. Christian
Coll., Indore; Rajaram Coll., Kolhapur; Officer Cadet
Sch, Indore, and at OTS, Mhow. Assumed the administration
of the state after his father fled to Pondicherry in
French India, 26th July 1934. Cmsnd. 2nd

4/8/1942; served in WW2 as coy. cdr. Western Desert
(including the dash to the Gazala line) 1941-1942, bde.

King-Emperor George VI, 25/1/1946. Presdt. EXCO and
acting C-in-C of Indore State 20th September

Sahib] Puar, Maharaja of Dewas (Senior), KCSI, by his
wife, H.H. Shrimant Akhand Soubhagyavati Maharani Pramila
Raje Sahib Puar, Maharani Regent of Dewas (Senior), educ.
King-Emperor George V High Sch., Dewas, and Daly Coll.,
Indore. Succeeded on the abdication of his father, 23rd
March 1947. Ascended the gadi, at Dewas, 19th
April 1947. Reigned under the Regency of his mother,
Maharani Pramilabai. The state was merged with other
Maratha states to form the Madhya Bharat Union on 27th
June 1948. MLA Madhya Pradesh State Assembly 1967-1971. A
first class cricketer for Maharashtra 1953-1961. Rcvd:

Indore. Succeeded on the death of his father as Head of
the Royal House of Dewas (Senior), 21st
January 1999. MLA for Dewas in the Madya Pradesh state
assembly since 1990, Minister of State for Technical
& Higher Education since 2005. Presdt. General Cncl.
of Daly Coll., Indore since 2004. Mbr. Bharatiya Janata
Party (BJP), Janbhagidari Samati SKP Post Graduate Coll.
(Dewas), etc. m. 7th February1987, H.H.
