Rajeshwar Maharajadhiraja Maharaja Shiromani Sri Raj
Singh II Bahadur, Maharaja of Bikaner. b. at
Junagarh, Bikaner, 12th October 1744 , eldest
son of H.H. Sri Raj Rajeshwar Maharajadhiraja Maharaja
Shiromani Sri Gaj Singh Bahadur, Maharaja of Bikaner, educ.
privately. Appointed to an Imperial mansab of
4,000 zat and 2,000 sowar by Emperor Ahmad
Shah I, 2nd August 1753. Succeeded on the
death of his father, 25th March 1787. Ascended
the gadi at the Karan Mahal, Junagarh, Bikaner, 4th
April 1787. m. several wives, including, H.H.
Maharani Chandan Kanwar Sahib, from the Nawalgarh
family. He d. at Junagarh, Bikaner,
25th April 1787, having had issue, two sons
and one daughter:

Surat Singh Bahadur, Maharaja of Bikaner. b. at
Junagarh, Bikaner, 18th December 1765, fourth
son of H.H. Sri Raj Rajeshwar Maharajadhiraja Maharaja
Shiromani Sri Gaj Singh Bahadur, Maharaja of Bikaner, educ.
privately. Served as Regent for his infant nephew, 25th
April to 9th October 1787. Succeeded on his
death, 9th October 1787. Ascended the gadi
at the Karan Mahal, Junagarh, Bikaner, 12th
October 1787. Settled the long standing differences of
his house and family with the rulers of Jaipur, by
entering into an alliance with Maharaja Bijai Singh in
1798, and resolving long outstanding boundary disputes
and dissagreements. Conceded an indemnity of Rs 2 lakhs
to the Marathas after their General, George Thomas,
invaded Bikaner territory on twice and destroyed his fort
at Fatehabad. He incurred huge debts due to his military
adventures against the Bhatis, the Dautpuras, the
Marathas and his own recalcitrant nobles, which had
reduced his state to near anarchy. Attempted to place the
state under British protection by offerein the keys to
Montstuart Elphinstone in 1808, but was refused.
Eventually succeeded in his aim and entered into a treaty
of perpetual friendship and alliance with the HEIC, in
return for British protection, on 9th March
1818 (ratified by the Marquess of Hastings on 21st
March 1828). m. several wives. He d. at
Junagarh, Bikaner, 25th March 1828, having had
issue, seven sons and several daughters, including:

Sri Ratan Singh Bahadur, Maharaja of Bikaner. b.
at Junagarh, Bikaner, 30th December 1790,
eldest son of H.H. Sri Raj Rajeshwar Maharajadhiraja
Maharaja Shiromani Sri Surat Singh Bahadur, Maharaja of
Bikaner, educ. privately. Succeeded on the
death of his father, 25th March 1828. Ascended
the gadi at the Karan Mahal, Junagarh, Bikaner, 19th
April 1828. Granted the Mahi-o-Maratib and other
insignia of Royalty, and received the hereditary title of
Narendra Maharaja, from Emperor Akbar Shah II in
1831. Assisted the British during the First Afghan War in
1841, furnishing camels and other supplies at short
notice. m. several wives including (first)
at Dundlod, 1806, H.H. Maharani Sri Raj Kanwar Sahib (d.
at Junagarh, Bikaner, 1852), younger daughter of Thakur
Ranjit Singh of Dundlod, by his first wife, Thakurani
Ratan Kanwar, of Pokharan family. m. (third) at
Udaipur, 3rd July 1820, H.H. Maharani Baiji
Sri Ajab Kumariji Sahib, daughter of H.H. Maharana Sri
Bhim Singh Sahib Bahadur, Maharana of Udaipur. He d.
at Junagarh, Bikaner, 7th August 1851,
