GENEALOGY
1669 - 1698 Maharaja
Sri Anup Singhji Bahadur, Maharaja of Bikaner. b.
at Junagarh, Bikaner, 1638, eldest son of Rao Sri Karan
Singhji Bahadur, Rao of Bikaner, educ. privately.
Succeeded on the deposition of his father and raised to
the title of Rao, 11th January 1667
(confirmed by Imperial firman, 22nd
July 1669). Granted the hereditary title of Maharaja by
Emperor Aurangzeb for his services at Bijapur in 1675.
Entered the Mughal service and appointed to an Imperial mansab
of 2,000 zat and 1,500 sowar 11/1/1667,
prom. to 3,500 zat 1687. Served in the Deccan
campaign at Salher in 1672, Bijapur in 1675, and the
siege of Golconda in 1687. Adstr. of Aurangabad
1677-1678, Hakim of Adoni 1678, Imtiazgarh Adoni
1689-1693, and of Nasratabad Sukkar 1693-1698. Granted
the Mahi-o-Maratib and other insignia of Royalty.
A great patron of literature and learning, he ammassed a
rare Sanskrit library of nearly 10,000 manuscripts. m.
(first) a daughter of Thakur Lakshmi Das Sonagri. m.
(second) Sisodiji Maharani Sri Kalyan Kunwarji Sahiba,
Regent for her son 1698-1700, elder daughter of
Maharajadhiraj Maharawat Sri Hari Singhji Bahadur,
Maharawat of Kanthal, by his wife, the Rathorji Maharani
Sri Anand Kunwari Sahiba. m. (third) the Rajawatji
Maharani Sahiba, Regent for her son 1700. m.
(fourth) 1697, a daughter of Maharana Shri Jagat Singh I,
Maharana of Mewar. m. (fifth) Khandeliji Maharani
Sri Lad Kumari Sahiba, daughter of Raja Shri Birsinh Deo,
Raja of Khandela, in Jaipur. He d. at
Adoni, in the Deccan, 1698, having had issue, four sons:

Maharajadhiraja Maharaja Sri Sujan Singhji Bahadur,
Maharaja of Bikaner. b. at Junagarh, Bikaner, 28th
July 1690, second son of Maharajadhiraja Maharaja Sri
Anup Singhji Bahadur, Maharaja of Bikaner, educ.
privately. Succeeded on the death of his elder
half-brother, 15th December 1700. Ascended the
gadi, at the Karan Mahal, Bikaner Fort, 26th
December 1700. Ordered to attend Emperor Aurangzeb in the
Deccan, where he remained for ten years. Faced invasions
from Maharaja Abhai Singh of Jodhpur and Bakht Singh of
Nagaur, but succesfully repulsed both. m. ca
1720 (d. by sati, at Bikaner, December
1735), a daughter of Rai-i-Rayan, Mahimahendra, Maharawal
Shri Rama Singh Sahib Bahadur, Maharawal of Dungarpur. He
d. at his camp at Raisingpur, 16th
