BRIEF HISTORY

The rulers of Oahu, like those of the other Hawaiian islands, claim descent from Wakea. Nanaulu, a fourteenth generation descendant of Wakea was the ancester of Kumuhonua, King of Oahu, brother of Moiheka, 1st King of Kauai of the second dynasty. In 1783, Oahu was conquered by the Kingdom of Maui which was, in turn, annexed by King Kamahama of Hawaii in 1795.

17xx - 1730 Kualii, 19^th Alii Aimoku of Oahu and 20th Alii Aimoku of Kauai, son of Kauakahi, 18^th Alii Aimoku of Oahu. m. Kalani-Kahi-Makei-Alii, daughter of Princess Kalani-o-Mai-heuila, daughter of Lonohonuakini, 21^st Mo'i of Maui. He d. 1730, having had issue, two sons and one daughter:

1) Kapiono-o-kalani, 20^th Alii Aimoku of Oahu- see below.
2) Peleioholani, 22^nd Alii Aimoku of Oahu and 21^st Alii Aimoku of Kauai - see below.

1730 - 1737 Kapiono-o-kalani, 20^th Alii Aimoku of Oahu, elder son of Kualii, 19^th Alii Aimoku of Oahu and 20th Alii Aimoku of Kauai. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1730. He d. 1737, having had issue, a son:

1) Kanaha-o-kalani, 21^st Alii Aimoku of Oahu- see below.

1737 - 1738 Kanaha-o-kalani, 21^st Alii Aimoku of Oahu, son of Kapiono-o-kalani, 20^th Alii Aimoku of Oahu. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1737. He d. 1738.

1738 - 1770 Peleioholani, 22^nd Alii Aimoku of Oahu and 21^st Alii Aimoku of Kauai, younger son of Kualii, 19^th Alii Aimoku of Oahu and 20th Alii Aimoku of Kauai. Succeeded on the death of his nephew, 1738. He d. 1770, having had issue: Copyright©Christopher Buyers

1770 - 1773 Kumahana, 23^rd Alii Aimoku of Oahu, son of Peleioholani, 22^nd Alii Aimoku of Oahu and 21^st Alii Aimoku of Kauai. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1770. He had issue:

1773 - 1785 Kaneoneo, 24^th Alii Aimoku of Oahu, son of Kumahana, 23^rd Alii Aimoku of Oahu. Succeeded on the death of his father, 1773. m. Kamakahelai, 22^nd Alii Aimoku of Kauai (m. second, Kae-o-kulani, 26th Mo'i of Maui), daughter of Kaumeheiwa. He d. 1785, having had issue, an only daughter:

1) H.M. Queen Kawalu (d/o Kamakahelai). m. (first) Alii Palikua, Alii of Koloa. m. (second) her half-brother, H.M. George Kaumu-alii, King of Kauai (b. at Holo-holo-ku, Waialua, ca. 1778; d. at Honolulu, Oahu, 26^th May 1824, bur. Waine'e Cemetery, Lahaina), son of Kae-o-kulani, Regent of Maui and Molokai, by his wife, Kamaka-he-lei, 22^nd Alii Aimoku of Kauai. She had issue, two daughters by her first husband, and one son by her second - see Hawaii (Kauai).
